  • Nice, Steve did a credible job on this...now, this shows the magic that Michael had because he took this song and just made it blossom and shine. #musicalgreatness

  • @shyshotcaller27 I don't know, this version is really good, yes Quincy and Michael polished it up very nice, and I'm not knocking it at all but this version has more soul to it IMO.

  • I have the CD This Is It so i can listen to it

  • Beautiful song - for all of them

  • whenever i listen to the into of the demo, i just feel so warm and the empty heart is filled fully<333

  • incredible!

  • Also, "Thriller" the album, had several members from Toto in it.

  • I am not surprised Steve Porcaro and Toto were associated with the super-production known as Thriller ( Album )

    Great session-musicians that united ( Toto )

  • CREEPY VERSION -_-

  • one of the great black ballads written by two white guys. HOORAH!

  • This is really fascinating.

  • RIP to both SP & MJ

  • @digga2k6 - Steve Porcaro is still alive

  • @boozygrogy YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! I was thinking of Jeff Porcaro!!!!

  • @digga2k6 hahahahhaa SP is alive :P

  • Congrats on talking bollocks in the description. A deaf baboon can hear its not MJ.

  • FEELING SPECIAL ONCE AGAIN...THANX 4 THE POST!...,,SO HAPPY!... :D

  • Steve Porcaro wrote this song for his daughter. She was being bullied and he wrote this to make her feel better. Quincy heard this by accident when it was on the same tape as another tune he was intended to hear. John Bettis was called in to re-write the lyric and that's how we got the "Human Nature" we hear today.

  • @Nostaljack

cant imagine the song is related to bullying,it just sounds so romantic!

    how do you know this?

can you give me the website??

    thank you so much!!!

  • @kaicc Sure. Search "Inside Musicast" on Yahoo or Google (they won't let me post the link here). When you get there, search the archives for the Steve Porcaro interview. He goes into detail about the tune.

  • @Nostaljack It wasn't by accident, Quincy went to Jeff Porcaro and asked him to compose a song for Michael. Quincy did that often with many groups. I don't know if the bullying thing is true or not, I never heard that might be true might not, but I remember reading an interview and it was said that Quincy asked them to make a track for Michael. If you listen to it though it has Toto written all over it, it has their signature sounds. The song kinda remind me of their song Make Believe.

  • @MrSilksoul With all due respect, it absolutely *was* an accident according to Steve Porcaro. It was on a cassette with another tune they intended to submit to MJ. Q heard the tune they submitted and passed on it. The tape continued to roll after that song ended and Q ended up hearing this demo - which he decided on for "Thriller" - of course, with re-written lyric by John Bettis. I agree that it is *very* Toto. Great tune!

  • The music is arranged in a creative way.

  • I don't believe this is the original version because Quincy Jones said that he made up the "why, why" part after hearing the demo with MJ. If you don't believe me about, Quincy then just listen to the bonus track on the thriller special edition where Quincy says what i told you guys! ZING!

  • @BIGRE21209 Then either he has remembered incorrectly or he's not being truthful. The "why, why" tape-slap thing is in the original Steve Porcaro demo.

  • A lot of Chris Tucker here...

  • toto loool

  • Steve Porcaro (member of the band Toto) wrote this song for Michael Jackson and this was his demo version presented to Michael and Quincy Jones. Michael and Quincy picked it up, recorded it and made the final tracks on Thriller!

  • @moopy999 Alot of people don't know about Toto. Yet everyone has sampled their music. From my understanding it was Jeff Porcaro who did it.

  • @MrSilksoul Again, demo recorded by *Steve* Porcaro, not Jeff. Steve was the synth guy for Toto in the early days. Jeff was one of the most incredible drummers ever. Just clarifying....;)

  • @moopy999 i thought rod temperton wrote this song ?!!!

  • It's Tito Jackson.

  • No, it's not MJ.

  • i dont think it is michael jackson

  • This sounds like MJ on some weird drug!

  • from witch album??

  • @iyadh71 It isn't on any Toto album. However, Toto has added it to their recent concerts.

  • what hell you guys are saying?

MJs version is always better than this

  • @octavio001331

Michael's version is also played by Toto. In fact it's Toto featuring MJ. And off course, no one could sing this song better than MJ. In fact, I believe if the song ended up on a Toto record, it would never be a significant song as it has become today.

  • Anyone could have sung it but it would have not been a hit if MJ didnt sing it.

  • Andre Vollienweider, Jermaine Jackson, These guys could have written this song for anybody! I forget how fantastic TOTO is! I am still going Gaga over their soundtrack to Dune!

  • @Truthnuff I like so much this primitive version of "Human Nature" too, I never heard this and I like so much.

But I like both versions: Michael Jackson's Human Nature & Toto's Human Nature. For me the past decades were a beautiful times for music, and it's so stupid try to compare singers with others. I would never say Lady GaGa is way better than Michael Jackson, even Beethoven. Try to think better at that point of the time.

  • I actually really like this version also...

  • Does this version of the song scare anyone else?

Sounds like a demon singing...To me anyway

  • OMG this version is SOOO SAD and depressing! I cry almost evertime I hear it.

I mean, some sad songs are good but the Michael Jackson cover is 100000000x better... as his version of any other song anyways :X

  • @hiltonlive32grnrngr I have to disagree with you on this one! This is angelic to me! I wish I had heard this sooner. This is 1billion x4 times better than the MJ version!

  • @Truthnuff You are on crack. MJ is way better and you can understand what he is saying!

  • @jammasterzapp Deare. you're on Meth! TOTO is Way Better!

  • @Truthnuff Whatever idiot. You dont know talent. Toto is good but the way they did this song was not good. Thriller album and michael was magic and no one could touch michael. Not even toto. retard.

  • @jammasterzapp

Whatever moron, it is obvious that you were probably raised by lemmings! I bet you have never even listened to a good album! There was no magic in Michael, There was simply "pop" which for the most part was pure crap! Rock, Soul and Jazz were lost to that nonsense! Nothing that Michael did will ever replace it!

  • @Truthnuff you don't have to like michael but his music wasn't crap and not all of his music was just pop.

  • @Truthnuff If you don't like Michael Jackson, apart that dislike from his music.

For some reason he rocked the world with his songs, his dances, his costumes, his beatbox's collection, his demos, his concerts, his guiness records around the world, his support to make this world a better place, his etc...

He didn't a simple "Pop", you're totally wrong, and if Toto read your comment, they will be disappointed on you because they likes MJ and they worked with him.

  • Isn't this song written by someone from the 80's band 'Toto'??

Could it be a 'writers version', or something? =o

  • michael says in his autobiographie moonwalk that when quincy and he listened to that they tought this is the most beautiful melody they ever heard :D

  • @DjIceCnS When I first heard the song, I thought the same thing.

  • StevePocaro and David Paich are so smooth, it's not even funny.

  • it's tito. toto was the dog from wizard of oz

  • This demo is a TOTO demo sung by Steve Porcaro... So it isn't a Michael Jackson Demo....

  • dude this is Toto xD looool

  • and they thought the middle piece was a better intro and the signature intro was born

  • I love the echoes of his lyrics in this demo!

  • yea this is steve p from toto.but its def the original demo of human nature

  • man, that's not michael jackson singin. for sure! it sounds like a white guy in his bedroom to me. It misses the michael jackson soul feel!

  • Comment removed

  • @louie77 Toto?? XD

  • @anoksenyamen no toto is what we ate at the Chinese restaurant last night

  • @MetaITV lmao that is so wrong....so i guess instead of garfield on ur fork it was toto

  • Nope this is not Michael, but the guy with who he worked on this track ;) The people i am gratefull that they worked on this track are Steve from the band Toto & John :)

  • So it is gentle.... ^^

Now I understand, why it was pleasant to Michael)

  • This was the demo given to Michael and Quincy to record. Michael kept "Why" but changed most of the words

  • What the Hell?? This is NOT Michael.. No matter what the description says.. Cuz Michael has songs that he released with his deep voice.. And it sounds nothing like the guy that's singing in this.

  • @siaisthebest It's not Michael---it's the writer of the song, Steve Porcaro of Toto; it was going to be on Toto IV, but the band didn't feel it fit in. The song was then given to Quincy Jones---and the rest is history.

  • According to one site, Steve Porcaro came up with the idea for this while Toto were mixing Africa.

  • Untill now I'd only read about this demo ... COOL ... I was so sure the arpeggiated lead synth was a Steve Porcaro idea, but nope (:

  • If this was the original he really worked magic on it lol

  • Sexy chords and great melody. Micheal had a great foundation to build on and his vocals really brought it to the next level.

  • That's NOT Michael.

  • @KingCorny93...you're right. it's not him. But the demo wasn't recorded by Micheal because it wasn't written specifically for him. It was simply written as a demo and Quincy Jones got his hands on it and had Micheal sing it. Either way I couldn't possibly imagine anybody else singing this tho lol...

  • FOR ALL OF YALL OF COURSE THIS IS NOT MICHAEL, SEE IN MUSIC, IF SOMEONE ELSE WRITES A SONG FOR AND ARTIST THEY RECORD A DEMO, AND THEY SEND IT TO THE ARTIST HOW IT SUPPOSE TO GO, AND THEN THEY RECORD MICHAEL'S VOCALS and make a better beat!

  • this one sounds 80s michaels version is forever

  • Not just Human Nature. The music is from For All Time.

  • Michael Jackson killed this song. He made this song classic. MJ IS THE BEST. WE LOVE HIM

  • at first Quincy didn't like it. but when he was trying to fast forward through it, he came upon the end, and change his mind due to the fact, he was looking for a replacement song for the Carousel song he already had

  • God, this is such a beautiful melody. This is a nice demo but honestly, Michael Jackson made this song what it is. Nobody can sing it like him.

  • this is not MJ thats why I feel the voice is very strange

  • This isn't Michael singing. It's Toto.

  • @Gates4President Well to be more exatly it is Steve Lukather who is singing with Toto

  • @nikelovesrock true that. Lukather is the man. Love him.

  • @nikelovesrock Demo song written by Steve Porcaro at beginning for 'Toto'.

A 'Toto' does not liked too the song, Quincy Jones then liked the demo song .. Steve Porcaro left him this for his new album Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Not Luke singing is STEVE PORCARO :).

Reaching number two on Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary chart and number seven on the Hot 100, the song became Jackson's fifth Top 10 hit from Thriller.

  • @Gates4President Tito ... are you a Jackson fan ?

  • @NormansTVProgram I am a Jackson fan. But it's not Tito. It's a band called Toto playing it. They wrote the song. Search their version, it's this.

  • @Gates4President Oh sorry :$

lmfao now I sound like the idiot xD

Well this Toto doesn't match up to Michael <3

  • @Gates4President tito you mean lol

  • @Gates4President Tito not TOTO! AHHAHAHH ROFLMAO

  • @ladidivine123 Toto is what we ate last night for dinner!!

  • @BrandonSaldana HAHAHA!!

  • the singer from Toto said the song was written about his daughter. Great demo...

  • aight heres the story this is steve from toto he had the idea for this song an was trying to get toto to do it for therselves but the band wanted to go in a more rock format so he stuck this in at the end of a cassett of demos he sent to q for mj to possibly do for thriller>it was a after thought really an had they trun off the tape human nature may not have happened>go fig divine intervension i guess

  • @louie77

    that's exactly right

  • the mj final version sounds better, thanx to the arpeggiated synth that's missing from this demo version

  • What does Steve sing after "Teacher shouts..."?

  • @TheIntruders his balls is stuck there

  • Its Definitely a Steve Porcaro demo for Mike and Quincy.

  • How do we know if this is really Steve Porcaro's original demo?

  • @TheIntruders

    It is ;-)

  • @GODZILLA1998FILM Well then he should change the title to who is singing this. Just saying I know it's not MJ. Title of this is very misleading. I'm not the only one on here who is saying this btw. :)

  • Yeah this is the demo to "Human Nature" by Toto. :) Quincy didn't like the lyrics in this one so he hired John Bettis to write different lyrics, the rest is history.

  • @JekkuFan It's Toto, not Phil Collins, dumbass. Learn your history.

  • please send me the link to download this sing...

  • @louie77 Actually Steve Poccaro said they tried to not let Quincy have it for Michael but eventually they gave in.

  • okay well , hmm , i can tell you this is not MJ Signing , its the writer of Human Nature

  • Michael jackson took this song, tweak it, and then killed it lol

King of pop only can do that :(

  • That's awesome that Toto did this :) I love Toto and I love MJ.

  • this is steve pocaro's demo, he then gave it to quincy jones......................and that's how it became a hit

  • this song sounds like. for all time and human nature mix together....lol

  • you mean that the one who's singing in the demo is Michael??

  • @kaicc No, its Steve Porcaro of Toto

  • This is Steve Porcaro singing. It's a demo that he recorded.

  • hey it's toto!

  • @jason25k It's not Toto...It's Steve's song he had in his head and he used to play the hook all time but the others of Toto never heard the song properly and Steve was the only one to record it. This is the version Quincy accidentally heard at the end of the demo tape and loved it for Michael !!!!! So Steve agreed that it was better for Michael and this happened just after Steve left Toto and they were kicking themselves lol

  • Quincy Jones said when they got human nature it had the baisic sound this was probably the version they got b4 mj worked on it or its some1s lame cover

  • Quincy Jones was an absolute genius for deciding to have MJ do this song. This is one of those kind of songs you never would see an R&B singer of that time do, but MJ made it work so well and it's definitely one of the key songs that makes Thriller the incredibly special pop album it is. This was actually the last song that made the Thriller album, unseating a song called "Carousel", and I think this emerged as a particularly special song.

  • This isn't Michael Jackson, for sure.

  • this is toto!!! Its really rare though!! Good job!!

  • This isnt Michael Jackson.

  • Thanks ive been looking for this for ages!!! And yes this is the origional demo with Steve Porcaro singing, Yet to have MJs vocals added and the arppegiated intro and bridge that David Paich came up with.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the original demo sung by Steve Pacarro on the tape he have Mike..

  • its sounds good i think they should have used this melody

  • it is the same melody

  • The voice in question is likely Steve Porcaro. He composed the music. Only after Quincy heard the track did he bring in John Bettis to write lyrics for the song that would become the "Human Nature" we all know.

  • This isn't MJ singing. I know his singing and it's definitely not him.

  • I won't tell you exactly where I first found this, but based on the place where I first got this, it is physically impossible for this to be "just a cover"

  • @culafi1

    Can I have this demo??

    I love it so much!

    Thank you so much!

    L.O.V.E

  • @culafi1 I'm so jealous you found this!

  • @culafi1 : Do you not remember where you found this or do you have a secret spot where you found it? ;-)

  • @culafi1 this isnt michael singing idiot. if you'd done your homework you'd know who made the demo. just go to wikipedia. i dont even believe that you found the original tape. you found the song on youtube or the internet or somewhere

  • @culafi1 How come you won't say where you got it from? Doesn't sound like you "stumbled" upon it.

  • @Number1UltimateMJFan most mj fans have it now. title is misleading. go to mjjc and you'll find a download. if not pm me your email and i can send it you. i hate when mj fans are stingy. imagine if mj refused to share his work!

  • @culafi1 You will not tell, whence at you this demo? It is awfully interesting to me, after all it..... It has been written specially down for Michael and this record lies somewhere at him, and here is for the whole world filled in by video with this record!

  • @culafi1 this is the original writer of the song :) i have the thriller alternate version that was floating online there was trouble too with the original writers

  • @culafi1 this is from Toto, not Michael.

  • This is not the Demo. The Demo Toto gave Q & MJ didnt have any words except for Why Why with a base line. It never had words. This is some band with their cover of the song. Not from the Thriller Sesions people

  • Thank you culafi1 for posting this. The song Human Nature was written by the band Toto ("Africa") for Michael. Michael and Quincy Jones heard the demo and fell in love with the song. So this isn't Michael singing.

  • @siforestify This song wasn't written for Michael. Toto sent Michael and Quincy a tape with songs on it. Michael and Q didn't like the songs, however, they forgot to turn the tape off, and the song (human nature) came on. Steve Pocaro couldnt find a tape to send MJ and Q the demos, so he used a tape they (ToTo) already recorded a demo on (which was human nature).

  • Huh......this is from the Thriller sessions, I guarantee that. If it wasn't Michael. I just couldn't imagine a circumstance other than either Michael singing it or it was recorded FOR Michael

  • @culafi1 This isn't MJ. I know when I hear his voice. I think this you passing off and thinking we want to believe it's MJ or you are using stupid bad auto tune software! Think you bet start telling the truth about this anyway but if you don't then that's a shame then. :(

  • @Rock2HAL No, it isn't MJ. It's Toto. A very popular band in the late 70's early 80's.

They already recorded this on a demo tape when they sent MJ the same demo tape with other demos on and Michael loved this so asked if he could do it and Toto agreed.

  • @chem1988 Thanks for the info. The person who uploaded this needs to change that title. lol

  • @culafi1 But very often songwriters record a version of the song before they give the song to the artist to give the singer an idea of what the song should sound like. For instance there are early versions of Butterflies, Heaven Can Wait, Whatever Happens and Break Of Dawn known which contain (almost) nothing of Michaels vocals...

  • quite obvious not mj, 100% sure. not about octave range, can just tell by style of voice.

  • I would be very surprised if this was Michael Jackson. My first thought was what Quincy Jones was speaking of at the end of the Thriller Deluxe album. This was probably the original demo written at the end of another song written for Michael and Quincy. If I recall, Quincy said the only part he heard was the "Why, Why" section. Good find!
