NOOOOOOOO dont use camstudio. Use screen-cast-O-matic OR hypercam2, ( which i use ) those are the best ones. Camstudio sucks!!!!

@GaeriSummer the reason camstudio is not good, is because after youve had it for a month or so, it records horrible. My friend named popingoocp, asked her fans why she was recording with camstudio, when she imported it onto sony vegas, everything was green and red for about 10 seconds. Just saying if camstudio works good for you, Good. ( I found a new one called camastasia, its the best! I have know idea if i spelled camastasia correctly :3 )

well i am happy you successfully made your video already ...even though noone seemed to give you a freeware program suggestion. just for the record, i have camstudio20 on my harddrive .. which is freeware. i cant give a review, because its been too long. but all the other software i downloaded seems to be gone .. so i guess this program might have been the winner.

Look at Snag-it from Techsmith. You can capture to AVI, lots of options, not to expensive at all.

If it's not about capturing video (like webcam stuff) but "just" GUI action, I usually shoot with cannons at sparrows as I have the cannon handy: Good old VMware which is able to capture any screen action from the guest virtual machine.

It's of course no screen capture software as such: It's a virtual machine monitor to run multiple guest operating systems on a host machine at the same time for testing purposes and/or software development. - And as a bonus it can capture screen vids from the virtual machines.

That's what I meant with "if I had to capture screen action, I'd use VMware as I have it handy, but for someone else it should be like shooting sparrows with cannonballs".

I use capturewiz for all my digital theft. it's about $30 and easy to use and has a good trial period without lots of annoying limitations

ich bin mal aus zufall auf ein programm namens "screen virtuoso" gestoßen. das konnte meines wissens "desktop activity" aufnehmen (qualität fraglich)... kannsts ja mal ausprobieren.
