I know why the monster "respawns". He's still an event in the game, just like the shadows and sounds, but with a much lower chance of showing up. Regardless, he can appear again, but you don't get to see that happen because the game closes the first time you see him so he's not able to spawn again further down.

It's based off of a creepy pasta (creepy story, p much). There's a link in the description you can go to for more information.

It's basically a randomly generated game. You go down stairs for a time, it can be from 10 minutes to a few hours, and random things happen. You shrink, shadows appear, etc. until you reach the weird glowing-face-monster that attacks you and closes your game.
