Formidable en effet. Chaque sorte d'amour est dépeint. C'est le jeu de l'amour en plus beau "Comme ce type doit m'aimer puisqu'il m'a inventé".

Qui n'a pas un peu connu un Lancien? Ceux qui s'aiment plus qu'ils n'aiment l'autre, et font souffrir. La force morale des soeurs est un hymne à la femme, à la liberté, mais aussi au respect. Ce film n'a pas pris une ride, il est de plus en plus beau et on y trouve 1000 inspirations.

Example: "Chanson de Maxence", from this film, became "You Must Believe in Spring" for American publication.

I researched this film and learned that the English version of this film has disappeared. It was shot, but there are no extant copies anywhere. It has simply vanished. If it weren't for Agnes Varda's restorative efforts, we might not even have the French-language version to enjoy.

I have the english version on video. It played on tv here in Australia about 15 yrs ago and luckily I taped it. I'm constantly on the lookout to see if it ever airs again. For years it was the only version I'd ever seen, and it's still the version I'm most familliar with. Seeing the remastered French version was amazing when I saw it. The colours are so saturated!

As interesting as it is to have two versions of the film, I have to say it's a better movie in French than it is in English.
