  • I grew up with this. probably because my dad is the trombonist following Ronnie Corbett around. Absolute classic still, and one of the greatest events of my dads life.

  • 6minutes 42 seconds of pure, unadulterated joy, this is surely one of the greatest Two Ronnies sketches ever,I watched this before I went to work today and I have been smiling ever since.

There is no other word for it than brilliant,a classic piece of British comedy the likes of which we are sadly unlikely to see again.

  • Ronnie Barker and Oliver Hardy = seperated at birth

Imo the classiest and funniest two men that have ever lived

  • thank you for posting , me n the wife have been looking for aint it a pity the pubs in the city for ages ,at last a decent upload

  • hillarious lol

  • Long Live Ronnie Barker! We lost an absolute smasher when he passed away!

  • Is the band miming?

  • Absolutely bloomin fantastic.

  • Comedy is all about brilliant timing..this is a great example!

  • up there with four candles!!!!!!!!

  • 'URRY AND FINISH WITH THESE BLEEDIN' GLADIATORS :D

  • This sketch must have been REALLY HARD WORK! Their timing and technique is masterful, what a wonderful finale to the show!

  • Just Awesome :)

  • the two ronnies were always comedians of the people but this sketch gives you an insight of a working class pastime you don't see a lot of anymore... the local brass band.

not only were the two ronnies funny but they had their finger on the pulse as well, and that's why we love them.

  • @leeclaxton, what the hell is not funny about this? These guys are nearly as good as ken dodd and morecambe and wise! Besides, ricky gervais isnt funny, hes racist and mean. Comedy should be about joy. Try watching ken dodd!

  • Have a look at their majorettes sketch - you will roar with laughter!!!

  • GREAT FUN LIFTS YOUR HEART UP

  • @LeeClaxton erm...

  • @LeeClaxton

    learn to type properly please

  • @LeeClaxton In English please? Ricky Gervais wouldn't have been fit to clean these guys boots.

  • Cheers for sharing that...still chuckling...

  • they r the 2 gods of comedy

  • RIP Ronnie Barker. Anyone see the One Ronnie. Painfully obvious Barker was the genius nor Corbett.

  • @Charlievil I dunno I quite liked it. It was never going to be as funny as the two ronnies but I do think it was at least good christmas viewing as opposed to all the other crap we've been bombarded with over christmas.

  • LOL

  • Comedy genius!

  • Brilliant! Still brilliant years later!!

  • How can anyone dislike this, its bloody brilliant !!

  • @Monarchoflos I know, it's the kind of thing you don't stumble on by accident, what kind of person seeks something out just to dis it?, Weirdos.

  • Hilarious, got to go along way to beat the two ronnies, comedy genius!!!

  • They are the 2 greatest comedians ever to live.Sadly now there is only 1.

  • im only 20 but thank god my gran us o wach the two ronnies god bless her i cant ge anoe o them they are the best

  • The Jehovahs witnesses once had a hymn to the first tune. It was called "Happy is the man who stays awake".

  • im used to live up north and theres nowt like a good old brass band the two ronnies are great as always

  • Aldershot? My Grandad's funeral service took place in Aldershot.

  • Oh my god, this cracks me up! Pure and utter genius!!

  • Prawn chop suey and a chicken fritter.

Large Strambui and a pint of bitter.

  • @fredandmish4ever Large Drambui, actually. A strange and rather sicky liqueur.

  • Comment removed

  • even though this is sometimes on the TV. I wish i was growing up with this sort of comedy.

  • @nasa06 I totally agree with you. Can't beat the Two Ronnies.

  • @nasa06 I make sure that i grow up with this sort of comedy, i hate the moden stuff :)

  • @nasa06 I did grow up with this. Imagine watching an episode of the 2 ronnies followed up by an episode of the dave allen show.

  • sachamoggy- first saw this on their tv show over 40 years ago.- and i remembered most of lyrics. what a treat. they were the best!

  • They were supremely talented.

  • They were superb!

  • hang on... they SHOULD put beer on the National Health.

  • @Kinlochbervie50 And brandy :D!!!

  • Me again!!! Watch these sketches over and over again and am dismayed that the Morris dancing one just before they sing Bold Sir John has vanished!!! Anyone any ideas???

  • 3.45... Oh my god I laughed my socks off.. they went wrong and then got it right again... Fantastic and filmed LIVE too... Brilliant Mr Corbett and Mr Barker... Absolutely fantastic.. :0)x

  • While this ranks among the very best of their frequently superlative work for me, each time I see it I am struck anew by the amazing choreography and, perhaps above all, by the discipline of the brass ensemble members. To pick up all the cues and hit every mark whilst the Two did their bits appears to me the height of professionalism.

  • how could anybody give this work of genius the thumbs down?????

  • @orichalcum1 Only someone who requires the surgical removal of a broom handle from his or her rectum?? :D

  • how could anybody give this work of genius the thumbs down?????

  • Haha, at 2.30ish you can see Ronnie C checking his mark on the floor - a wonderful sketch, beautifully executed.

  • What a performance. Well written, well delivered. It puts the arse into class!

  • By a girl who likes cooking, who's big and good looking, whose dumplings are double the size.

  • Does anyone remember the Two Ronnies song where the singers sing a song to the tune of The Entertainer? Really clever.

  • Found another great sketch featuring Morris dancers. Look up "the best of the two ronnies part 10. The "sod off song" LOL!!

  • its called Bold sir John. Its awesome as!!! :D

  • @misscjrennie Thanks for that. Looked it up and found out that Ronnie Barker wrote it! :)

  • @Scotsbell I have the two ronnies autobiography or whatever it is, Its great reading! Aparently Ronnie Barker wrote most of it all and he would send them in annoymously. Eventually he gave himself up LOL! Hes a genius! I love his work!

  • @misscjrennie

Do you know the actual name and publisher of the Autobiography?

  • @rabbileblanc Ronnie Corbet wrote it, not sure about the publisher. Sorry.

  • They should put beer on the national 'ealf......

Hahahaha I can watch this over and over again, I think they keep time really well considering everything they need to remember.

    One of my faves!!!!

  • So clever and hilarious without being mucky!! Like a pair of favourite uncles.

  • That's the best description I've ever heard of these two, love them both!!!

  • do any one have the any clips of the two ronnies songs for sale on dvd i have some but would like more

  • Back when comedy didn't have to do anything more than be clean and well structured.

The orchestrations for this routine, and the band rehearsals, would have cost 50,000 pounds or more.

  • This is wonderful, really wonderful

  • Look up "The Last Post" and from those that you get scroll down to find the Two Ronnies doing a majorette routine .... six minutes of sheer humour!

  • "The one with the enormous---"

    BOOM!

    CHASH!

    Classic!

  • a true classic

  • Absolutely amazing. It puts some of today's comedians to shame.

  • I cried with laughter! :) :) :)

  • they SHOULD put beer on the National Health!

  • Correct!! At the same time it you can't trust the government to get it right

  • They (the two ronnies) Should be put on the nationl health

  • classic!

where did you get that hat

i got it from the stores isnt it a little one i think it might be yours

i have got a big one

    im quiet sure of that

i didnt mean my flaming head

and i didnt mean your hat

  • Top clip, been trying to find it for ages - Cheers

  • must have seen this hundreds of times over the years and never fails to make me laugh out loud. ..by a girl who love cooking who's big and good looking who's dumplings are double the size!! god bless you both for the laughter you provided me as a youngster as now I reach 40, you're still doing it

  • Wonderful! Genius, pure genius

  • Priceless!

  • A source of constant amazement, wonder and joy. And also bewilderment that the clip of 2 cats meowing for a minute has reaped 35 million viewers while this has only got 41,000. No accounting for taste! Nothing like this wondeful duo!

  • haha! their slip up at 2:41! i wonder if that was intentional?

  • What's the slip up?

  • oh, sorry, I meant at 3:41

  • anybody know where i can get the lyrics for this?

  • I think I can make out all the words. Which bit did you want the lyrics to?

  • 4:29

Danny Baker plays this on his radio show most days and seems to know all the words.

If you're reading this Danny,I love you Man!

  • i dont know how the rest of the band kept going, i would have been collapsing in laughter

  • A lot of rehersals methinks!

  • What a wonderful play on words and a great send up of the Yanks. Only the Brits can come up with something as clever as this.

  • Brilliant. God rest Ronnie B.

  • I thought this sketch was brilliantly done and perfectly executed. Praise the 2 Ronnies. A wonderful influence for future comedians.....and music players and singers. Comic precision used here. Wonderfully done, guys. Ronnie Barker, keep the heavens laughing. If the heavens laugh, the world laughs too. God bless.

  • Pure Genius!

  • Does anyone know any of the band playing the lovely music?

They would all be in their 70s/80s now but didnt they do well as brucie would say!

  • if England had The Two Ronnies running the country for the last twelve years instead of scum blair and brown we wouldnt all be skint and depressed!

  • i don`t think you`ll ever find a pairing like these that could not only do normal comedy but musical comedy as well

  • Loved the 2 ronnies

  • Played tuba in this sketch. It was great funand Ronnies were superb!!

  • Wow, I'm jealous! What fun! I'll have to watch for the tuba player!

  • @csr57 how the hell did you keep a straight face and not miss a note in the whole sketch?!?

  • @Willbutler beucase hes lying

  • @csr57 well for a start there isnt any tuba's in this there are bases but no tubas

  • @thethebigman01 I can see a tuba.

  • @thethebigman01 There's plenty of bloody tubas! ¬¬

  • @csr57 You played in a sketch from the 1970s when your profile says 30? Most impressive.

  • BOOM TISH, BOOM TISH!!! The funniest 2Rons song they did.

  • I recognise most of these tunes, possibly played them - in a brass band

    love and hate em XD

    isn't Washington post played?

  • lol i just realised at 4:57 he's taking a breather :P.

  • The Two Ronnies weren't to everybody's taste but they had millions upon millions of fans and a lot of people love this.

Just concentrate on filming 9 year old girls in short skirts and leave us to enjoy this great clip without having to read your claptrap!

  • very clever writing a sheer joy to behold their brilliance

  • The order or the songs are:

    1) Stein Song

    2) Where did you get that Hat

    3) Anchors Aweigh

    4) Soliders Chorus from Faust

    5) Starts and Stripes Forever

    6) Blaze Away

    7) Entry of the Gladiators

  • Those glasses that Ronnie Barker is wearing reminds me of my grandad for some reason.

  • actualy ronnie Barker looked like my grandad before he died (ronnie barker that is)

  • My Grandad doesn't look like Ronnie Barker, nothing like him at. It's just Ronnie's Glasses and Moustache in this sketch that make me think of my Grandad.

  • You got to admire the band they're playing with, I don't think I couldn't help myself from laughing. Pure genius!

  • Brass bands are wierd, I'm in one. but this makes them awesome

  • true comedy geniuses

  • These men never failed to impress!

  • 3:17 is the march of the priest from 'faust'

  • a brilliant sketch from the two ronnies

what is the song at 3:55?

  • it's stars and stripes forever (a song from the U.S of A)

  • where did you get that hat class just class

  • Blaze Away is the tune at 4:28

  • This is Wonderful what is the first March? they used to play it every Sunday on the Bandstand across from My Gran's House.

  • My Dad is one of the guys playing, great side burns. Glad I found it on You Tube.

Wish tv comedy was as 'innocent' these days.

  • Rest in peace great man. Wherever you are I bet there's load of laughs

  • "Is it still that six foot brunette? The one with the enormous boom, tish, boom, tish".

    Just brilliant!!

  • Is there anywhere you can download this as a mp3?

  • You could try and download the actual video itself which is easy to do, check Google etc, then convert the video file, ie the FLV file to a music file of your choice, ie MP3. I have the track on my Ipod.... :o°)

  • Thank you. I'll try =)

  • Google DVDVideoSoft - you can download the video as avi and the audio as Mp3

  • These kind of actors and the script writers/producers etc are what proper television was all about...... absolutely a cut above to the majority of whats on offer these dyas.

  • Messrs Barker and Corbett never fail to make me laugh out loud. My son has only just discovered these two genii and their fantastic body of works... Brilliant job, fantastic of you to post this fabulous gem...:0)x

This is as good if not better than 'the Morris dancers sketch'

  • That is amazingly well put together and very very funny- they make it look so easy!! LMAO :)

  • LOL @ 1:31 verse!! lol

  • I saw this sketch -once- like fifteen years ago and I still remember it today. Not the words, mind you, just that the two Ronnies did a song to the march of the gladiators.

With that said, what's the name of the tune at 4:28? I've heard it so many times but never known what it's called.

  • sometimes geniues too give average performances sometimes. But that does not reduce their stature because they stand apart from other performers. You see other performances. They surpass even the extraordinary! I always find their comedy subtle and original. But different audiences have different taste. Some like loud comedy. Some like two Ronnies....

  • Agreed. It's very dry slapstick(if there is such a thing) Next to "fork handles" this is one of my favourite Two Ronnie skits.

  • @adhmochroi Hope you feel better after your operation x

  • Absolutely hilarious! Nothing on TV really makes me laugh out loud anymore, but I can watch these guys over and over and still roar with laughter!

  • Genius is a word bandied around too much these days, but these two guys deserve the status of comic geniuses, they've earned it. The modern 'shock' comics of today are amateurs skulking in the shadows of great men of mirth like Messrs Corbett and Barker.

  • Omg I actually love these guys! I raw laughing every time i watch these! I'm only sixteen and think that more kids my age should learn to appreciate the funniest men ever!

  • haha, same

  • R.I.P. Ronnie Barker.

As a British Brass Band player I love this.

    This is classic British Comedy

  • When oh when will the BBC release a DVD of all the Two Ronnies songs?

  • im only 13, and i think these guys are classic xD

  • when their stuff was good it was pure gold.

Imagine if laurel & hardy and the two ronnies had worked together WOW !

Ronnie Barker was pure genius. RIP

  • "... and lots of other things as well!" wonderful! one of my "all time favorites".

Does anyone know the original titles of the numbers the aldershots play?

    Thank you uploading!

  • They are (in chroinological order): The Stein song, Where did you get that hat, Anchors Aweigh, Segue to soldier chorus (Faust), Ain't it a pity and entry of the gladiators.

Its listed in a book Ive got called "All I ever wrote", It lists all the things Ronnie Barker ever wrote.

  • Thanks a lot! The Book will arrive in a few days! :-)

  • oh right cheers for telling us that. I wonder where can you get that book from and has it got the tunes?

  • Incredible footage and I just love the Washington Post where they sing "Isnt it a pity the pubs in the city all close at half past ten etc etc. They sure as hell dont have comedians like that any more.

  • does anybody know what the sketch is call where their dressed up as two soldiers songing with chefs songing along??

  • Lmao they are legends, the best comedians ever.

"As soon as we both finished here

Why don't we have a meal round the chinease

or else I shall go off me nut

cause my stomach thinks me throats been cut!"

    LMAO!

  • Perhaps you are right - maybe the only comedians who could give them a run for the title of best comedians ever are Morcambe and Wise (for such sketches as singing in the rain and of course, the breakfast sketch) What does everyone else think?

  • My mum knew a bunch of the guys in this because she was in the army in the seventies in the womens band!!

  • i bet she did ;)

  • 'Where did you get that hat??

I bought it at the stores.

    Isn't it a little one??

I think it must be yours.'

'I have got a big one

    I'm quite sure of that!!

I didn't mean my flamming head!!

And I didn't mean your hat!!'

LMAO!! Those two were brilliant when it came to double entendres like that!! :D

  • timeless classic. ppl will still be enjoying these clips in 50 years time imo.

  • Hear hear - you can tell that from that fact that people young and old still appreciate these clips today and still find them funny
