0:38 Berglas moves the card to the top of the deck. Giving himself time by asking the same question a few times. "Did you... The one you... eventually wanted?"
Saw him once at a north london theatre...the most boring mentalist i have ever seen. Only entertaining to magicians who think of him as god! He did such long drawn out routine, we walked out and went to the pub
The Berglas effect 'Any card at any number' is a myth. The reason it has never been marketed is because he always used stooges to do it. The method does not exist! He always wanted to impress magicians who still think there was a secret method!!
@trantricity Read Barrie Richardson's Theatre of the Mind. Toward the end, he talks about how Berglas did it twice on him. Barrie worked out his own method, but of course it's nothing like Berglas's.
Possible explanation: the gentleman with the bow tie is an accomplice. He is asked if his pockets are empty, yes, and his left hand pocket may have a double pocket, containing a single card (the previously decided card chosen off stage). David asks him to remove a card quickly, (adding to the effect). The cards were not counted in front of the audience, there would be 51, as the chosen card was already in the pocket of the accomplice. However, how is the famous Berglas effect achieved, genius !
you are right!, i hope someone does it beacause it so interesting to see in a video what i've read so many times, they way he fans the cards, it's fantastic!

1:24 Berglas rushes him so he takes the top card
1:45 is sleight of hand, it isnt a trick deck, he just keeps showing the same card but moving the other cards around it.
2:00 Brilliant misdirection. He passes the deck to the man to his right hand whilst placing the jack of hearts back on the table with his left hand.

But it's not Marvin its David isn't it?
Capricorn229 3 years ago
Yes, Marvin is his son. If I remember correctly, he was also present at this party.

Great to see live footage of a legend like Marvin but I don't get it?! he tells you how the tricks are done - all the cards are Jack of Hearts.
iseeeeyou 3 years ago
he was joking though? Didn't you see? There was only one Jack Of Hearts
