f you ever suffer from Alzheimers or have a loved one who does, there is hope. If you want to know more detail about Nita Scoggan's story you can go to nitascoggan.comand hear her story. Hope this helps
Hi, this is NOT a drug it is a supplement and it is in food. Lambs liver, eggs and chicken liver have it. It is in lecithin and is manufactured by the brain. If you look up Nita Scoggan's story you will see she cured her husband of full blown alzheimers with this supplement on a dose of 500gms per day.
@songster117 drug, supplement, it's just a name and doesn't matter.
I know where it comes from, what it is, and what it does, since i'm not a retard and was able to spend 10 minutes with google.
Unfortunately, 'full blown Alzheimers' means nothing. Are you saying he had gotten to the point of losing the ability to recall memories, or that his brain was pretty much starting to fall apart from the inside, which is what eventually happens?
@songster117 what's also funny, is that nowhere else, other than this woman's website, and that of a company selling the drug, is this cited as a cure for the desease. When your brain is literally falling apart, there is nothing that can be done.
even if this supplement can 'help promote a healthy brain', it cannot reverse brain damage
No I don't think he's doing the right thing especially as the cure for alzheimers is to take a supplement called Phosphatidylserine, 500mgs to 1500mgs per day. You'll start to see an improvement after 6 weeks or so. Nita Scoggan cured her husband who had full blown Alzheimers with this supplement.
@songster117 Pratchett is well on top of keeping up with research regarding treatment. if this drug woks, then he'll have heard of it and will be trying it.
He's not given up hope, he has given huge amounts of money for research and is trying everything he can. All he wants to do is die as himself with his own mind
@songster117 I just looked up that drug you mentioned. Phosphatidylserine is NOT a cure for alzheimers. even the website of the producers of the drug doesnt make any such claim. In fact they are very careful about their wording. Anyone thinking this is a 'cure' has misunderstood both, this drug, and what alzeimers actually is.
Heavy. I believe that you can chose when you time has come. Whether that is a good choice, or made for the right reasons is where the gray areas lie. I think that suicide is a cop out, a selfish last "fuck off" to the world. A complete lack of responsibility to the pain of life. But, shrug, if you have terminal cancer, or are a total shit bag... Sure. Do it.
i completely agree that it's a complete cop out under most circumstances, selfish and cowardly. But if you are terminal, and you know you don't have a massive amount of time left, you should definitly be allowed some degree of control
it's not legal in the UK, but he he's allready decided what song he is going to be listening to, where he is going to be, and what bottle of whisky he is going to be drinking from when he downs whatever bottle of pills he ends up using. I'm not sure about his wife, but his assistant has said that he will be willing to help him if he cannot do it himself.
We are the mind, losing the mind is more of a death than losing the body. I'd rather take physical damage over mental damage in any situation. Then again... I think I'd accept the Alzheimer's and live with it out of interest in seeing what I become as a person, how I see the world and my life. Probably try to live for the moment more, it could work out a positive thing.
I am not sure I follow. I am not trying to be dumb, but how can he choose to kill himself and tell the world about it without being thrown in the loony bin. I know here it is a crime to try and kill yourself so to come out and say you are going to do it will get you put away.
at the moment he still has a sound state of mind. You'll only get locked up if you are mentally unstable here, or at least i think so. When a sane person says that when they start to lose their mind they are going to commit suicide, there's not much anyone can do

Ah just looked it up. I did not know that euthanasia was legal in the UK. In the US is is only legal in three states. Crazy. I do not believe in
suicide, BUT I have also never been put in that kind of position. It is really a tough call.

I know what you mean. I'd rather lose both legs than my mind, but then again who knows? If i lost what made me, ME, then would it really matter?
The 'me' that types this right now would be 'dead' for all intents and purposes, even if the body were to be walking around and talking to toaster
