  • It's a shame they don't have the children in this performance as well :(

  • Best. Show. Ever.

  • just saw this live last night at the QPAC. Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!

  • @myyKINDALOVee I saw it a few nights ago there too!!

  • wish i had mary poppins umbella so i can just fly and fly away lol seeing them at the theartre

  • is sarah bakker (understudy for mary poppins) one of the dancers? unless its a dancer who looks very much like her!

  • @XDmiyukii yeah thats her

  • I was there that night at the helpmann's. brilliant.

  • I went and saw this show... IT WAS GODDAMN FANTASTIC.

I wanna go see it again D':

I fell in love with Mary Poppins ALL over again :)

  • @nicki446 I agree with you that it does need the kids, but my guess is, this is during the Melbourne production and this performance was in Sydney, so I'm guessing that it was just a thing to either save money or just to have to not worry about child rights and all that, so instead of having to fly kids up to Sydney and figure all their stuff out, they just got Matt Lee to do their bits, though I agree it's better with Jane and Michael.

  • ...Where are Jane and Michael? Because as much as I adore this cast and this song, it doesn't work without the kids...

  • Sorry, but Verity Hunt-Ballard has a very screechy voice, not at all what I imagined for Mary Poppins!!!

  • @cutes22 WHAT Aussie accents???

  • i would have to admit... this girls understudy Sarah Bakker was SOO much better then her... just saying

  • wher's the kids?

  • Saw Mary Poppins last night, it was amazing and i loved it so much. Recommend it for everyone to watch. This act is a lot better in the actual play though

  • Cute with little Aussie accents.

  • Watch an interview with Mary Poppins leads Matt Lee and Verity Hunt Ballard on ABC Radio National Youtube channel

    youtube.com/watch?v=iHk42WPq1XM

  • where are Jane and Michael

  • @peterboq1 Yeah, where are they?

  • @peterboq1 it was too late for them and they probably couldn't pick which two would have done it because i think there were like 4 boys and 4 girls :)

  • Very little scares me, but her interpretation is The Shining.

    Here's MARY!!!!

  • Matt Lee is a good bert, but he is really quite different from the others.

  • I love Verity :D

  • go tori, sara and trent! woo!

  • great video but it kept stopping.

  • Saw this 2 days ago... Matt Lee was awesome!

  • I don't know well who he is but I think this Bert is very good. Well done!

Yep, I know everyone has a favourite Mary, but regarding English accent, Scarlett has the most distinguished one. ( Love LMK and Caroline too!) No offence to Ashley's fans, however Hers was terrible. It ruined her great dancing and singing voice. This Australian Mary has a lot better one than Ashley's.

  • @Senkyakubanrai see i think this marys accent is the worst...but her dancing is the best of all the marys x 10

  • @jakeve2 I agree, although it is a pretty good english accent generally, it just doesn't seem practically perfect the way mary poppins' should be.

  • Where are jane and micheal????

  • @terigirl23 it was too late for the kids to perform...

  • @forthewinkitty It wasn't too late. It is just to do with scheduling. Company management wouldn't want to waste doing a 3 minute song which they would have been at the Opera House all day to do which would throw them out for one of the shows the following week.

  • @forthewinkitty Not to mention that this was performed in Sydney whilst the show is on in Melbourne. The kids are Melbourne based and paying for flights and then they have school the next morning would have been a problem. If you watch Step In Time performance which was done the following year, the Sydney based kids were in the number.

  • She sounds and looks too much like Lisa O'Hare

  • no kids?

  • @anchorman87 It must have been very late for them to perform.

  • Verity is brilliant!

  • i REALLLYYYY wish they got the accents right. but still pretty good :))

  • @89broadwaystar not wanting to be parochial - but they did a far better job than Broadway!! At least Mary sounds English in this one - and besides it is Cameron Mac's favourite cast of the show - the Premier was one of his top 3 best events in his career, as said by himself!!

  • @fatheranthony4pope Well, there you go then! :) guess its just opinion, really. the bway leading lady I saw was Laura M. Kelly, and she's actually english, so I guess im a little bias :P

  • @89broadwaystar in that case then I retract my statement - noone can beat Laura!! She just is Mary Poppins - I now think of her as Mary more than Julie Andrews.

I don't hate her, but it is Ashley Brown that I think is not all that good. Sorry to all Ashley lovers out there - she just doesnt sound English

  • @fatheranthony4pope totally agree! she just oozes mary! haha. Ashely sounds ok....but still not super english.

  • @89broadwaystar

I saw this today with the same actors in it. The lady playing Mary Poppins has improved her accent a lot. It sounds way better now. :D

  • @MissChessur oh, awesome :) glad to hear! i spose they'll improve all the time. hoping it gets up here to brissie soon!

  • I LOVE CHRISTINA TAN

  • Christina Tan!

  • Verity's Mary is very different from the other actresses who've played it in London and in America.

  • I under estimated Matt Lee... he was quite brilliant!!

  • <3 Verity
