  • I would like to ask from everyone of you to take a moment and think about the things happening in the motherland. The tyranny in Africa today is not different from the slavery of our ancestors a few decades ago. We are all enjoying ourselves. However, we ignore the fact that billions of kids dream to have just a quarter of this. Lets take advantage of this privilege we are given and use it to help those who dream for it. Check out my organization's page on facebook it is called Imani Children.

  • i think my cousin may have played keyboard on this? verden allen.

  • His voice is what pure joy and elation sounds like in my soul. Personal demons and subject material may give depth, but I think he's a rare talent where I just enjoy the vocals and forgo the scrutiny. Oh, and I fucking love the depth too.

  • when i'm down i get up and jimmy's there to help me

  • My version..pls have a look at my profile~

    title: the harder they come~

  • one of the first reggae songs i ever heard (way back when the flick hit the states), and to this day, brings a tear to my eye... thanks for a trip down memory lane

  • Nothing today can touch this, NOTHING

  • @neally76 except for his other songs ;)

  • im one honky white bread cunt, but i love reggae, specially jimmy cliff,

  • @jelleyman123 stop demeaning yourself

  • By the way, I can play this song on my keyboard. J.T.M.Smooth can play alot of songs on his keyboard. That is me!!

  • Yes. This is great Reggae music. SKA. My father plays these sort of songs in a Reggae band called "The Arsenals". My father plays the trombone. His name is Dizzy D. Real name is Paul Minott.

  • *Peace* from -ALBERTA CANADA

  • sad song

  • Beautiful - Just Beautiful :-)

  • Ah ... those were the days ... Jamaican music scene was never better than during the 70s. And not just the songs : the BEST dub was produced in that decade. That's a feeling and a spirit and a movement the like of which we will never see again.

    LION!

  • Don't knock UB40, signing off is a great album.

  • @Deepred67 There great album ... though Present Arms in Dub ain't too bad.

I used to listen to them practising in Moseley, Birmingham when I was a teenager. The old stuff is the best, as with so many artists.

  • @reincarnatedman RESPECT TO U BRO I LOVE ALL THE OLD STUFF !! BUT PRESENT ARMS WAS MY ERA FUCKING GREAT ALBUM !! YOUR FROM BRUM SO U A ZULU OR THE VILLA !! BCFC BARTON HILL BRISTOL !!

  • @bristolcityifcation I am not from 'Brum', just used to live there. I am not a Zulu, and I don't support 'Villa'. I don't support any football team. I agree, Present Arms is a great album.

  • Love from London .

  • Luv this 1 2 the Max

  • anyone else seen the jimmy cliff movie?

  • @PootieTangsBelt Harder they come, is this on your mind, mane?

  • @PootieTangsBelt - Hi , yes we saw it on DVD a couple of years ago ...........Jimmy Cliff was ripped off big style by the big fat cats of Jamacia.#

They got him to record and then paid him a paltry $20 dollars or close to and he lost all rights to the song..........it was his best and they made a fortune with it , still do !!!

  • Why would anyone dislike this video? One of the greatest songs ever. And such a good message.

  • this is a song for life time, not mere words, but the true meaning behind it.we need music like this in Jamaica man.

  • welsh socialist saying: POBL CYN ELW / PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT!

  • yes sire ire as long as da sun shine GANJA WARRIOR!!!!!!!

  • This is the reprise, not the original

  • music that comes from the bottom of the heart! not like the new shit that is only recorded for fu***ing profit! peace and love is the only way to survive the upcoming "change"!!!

"There are no others, it is all one!"

  • Proper music!

You can shove your xfactors/pop idols where the sun dont shine :)

  • @fimbles101 aint that the truth!

  • the movie this comes from shows a jamaica sadly long gone...the unfairness of the music business was bad but the people were all heart compared to the gully/gaza generation

  • @TheBad63 I agree with you 100%. Nothing is from the heart anymore. This modern dancehall preaches no good message, and is all for popularity

  • Joyful!

  • love.

  • @DJPaulgee1 yeah man reggae for life!

  • @DJPaulgee1 UB40? Poor cover band...compare Kingston Town by Lord Creator with their effort...oh and you missed Toots off your list.

  • Jimmy Cliff music is essential spirit-lifting music.

Anyone who has ever felt downtrodden and oppressed will find such liberating emotional release and true inspiration in the lyrics and melodies of his music.

    God Bless Jimmy Cliff!

  • I Love this Song

  • I'd rather be a free man in his grave, than living as a puppet or a slave!!!

  • @MrBothersome That was Che Guevara's thinking. He seem to be so peaceful in his death, may be he rather be a dead Guevara than a living Castro. Interesting person, with all his hits and misses and, of course, his passion.

  • this song heals the broken spirit.

  • go jimmy tell them black peoplewill get stronger

  • you can complain all you want about the shit on the radio today, but, as harsh as it sounds, the people who care dont matter and the people who matter dont care. the world is backward in more ways than one

  • @150rex Reminds me of one of my favourite quotes. "Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted." - Albert Einstein.

  • @150rex So true. I hope you're talking about the right people who matter. People making real, soulful music don't care if they're on the radio. They'll always get love from those of us who can see the love they spread.

  • @150rex fuckin ay

  • 3 ppl missed the like button,..too high or just clumsy I guess

Big anthem tune!!
  • One person fell.......hard

  • I felt compelled to come back to this song and write this comment. I'll always think of you when I hear this tune, as it was on my channel when I learned of your untimely and tragic death. For us, it was not meant to be. I wish you eternal peace resting beside your beloved. I'll never forget the laughs and the time we spent together.

  • 11 February 2011 ... viva Egypt!

  • Ahh, the times when you needed talent to sell albums.

  • @maxsims11 i cant stand how im forsed to live in a generation that cant produce anything good half the time.

  • @IiMZSlyboy I bet you really can't stand how you're forsed to have horrible spelling!

But seriously, bub, it doesn't matter what 'generation' you are supposedly in, all that generation gap stuff is a myth anyway. Nobody is less capable simply because of when they were born. However, if everyone says that you or your generation is stupid, and you believe them, then being 'forsed' to live in an unproductive situation is precisely what you deserve. So quit whining and good day to you, slimy boy!

  • @BernardIsReal i can spell properly. i was tired, and i wasn't thinking about it. I get what you're saying, but face it, the music that's out now, isnt as good as the music was back then. There are extraordinary artists out right now, but they don't get as much attention as the people who don't know how to make good music. Im not sating my generation is stupid, or incapable of making good music at all. and im not some dumbass that listens to what everyone tell me to. You don't know me.

  • @BernardIsReal hahaha it's funny how you criticize someone for bad spelling when you spell forced incorrectly and don't try and say typo because s and c are not that close.

GOOD DAY TO YOU OLD SIR!

  • @abercrombiegal198 If it were possible to use italics when writing comments, I would have italicized the word "forsed" to emphasize the fact that I was doing it on purpose in order to mock the user I was criticizing, who spelled it in exactly the same way. Now let us put an end to this silly insult-fest and get on with our lives!

  • Id rather be a free man or a slave...people wake up

  • @maxsims11 and music was actually MUSIC!

  • @maxsims11 Couldn't put any better..

    I love Jimmy Cliff :)

  • @maxsims11 I hope to even the balance of power.

  • An artist like no other.
