Para mim a única falha no projeto de Modernização do A4 foi a não colocação dos canhões DEFA 554.Então a grande escorregada da marinha.De resto a aeronave merece cada centavo investido nela,é um poderoso tanque de guerra alado!
parece que o governo do Brasil quer comprar novos aviões agora e por isso esta se fazendo uma operação conjunta com aviões das forças aereas do Chile, da Argentina, do Brasil, da Europa e até dos Estados Unidos para mostrar como é a operacionalidade dos sistemas de cada tipo de aeronave. Ainda não sei quais são mas me parece uma ótima idéia o pais ter aviões mais modernos para patrulhar suas fronteiras, inclusive a Amazônia.

In Falkland war (MALVINAS ISLANDS), the Star of the sky was the french Super Etandard and the Exocet misils, during the war, of our navy, now, the Etandards flys no more, but many A4, now A4-AR, flys with F16 Avionics. we still have some Mirages too.
I thought it was the Harriers that were the stars. They shot down 26 skyhawks with no air to air combat losses. I remember the Exocet misile was a problem for the British, and I remember the British SAS sneaked over to Argentina and destroyed many of the Super Etendards.
that's not true. the plan wasn't a "sneak" either, they were going to land a transport plane in the middle of the air base, but the SAS guys said it was suicide and wouldn't do it (with good reason). The Argentine military still thought it was a threat so they moved the aircraft to tierra del fuego

The A-4 Skyhawk is a lightweight, single engine attack aircraft. It is said to be one of the most famous attack aircrafts ever designed. The short range attack and close support aircraft was originally intended for the U.S. Navy and Marine forces. The A-4F variant was a refinement of A-4E. I wish i had gone to the navy to ride one of these little beasts. I know they are old. but they look very pretty, as classic cars from the sixties or seventies. Yea, A-4s don't have launch bars so they have those cable setups. Honestly, I have no idea what they're called, before my time, but I know they used to be pretty common (F-4s used the same thing)
"Catapult bridle". It's a short piece of cable, and the protrusions on the front of the US Ships (up until about CVN-70 i think they were still commonplace) were for catching them.

Old planes!? Please, take a look in the "old" F5-M that belongs to Brazilian Air Force! They have: BVR Missile, LDSD, HOTAS, Night Vision, display in the helmet, datalink, glass cockpit, etc... This "old" plane shot down 2 French Mirage 2000 in a exercise here in Brazil!

True enough... but it doesn't mean the old design is necessarily obsolete. Take the 747 for example, it is still in production after 48 years. The 757 line by comparison is out of production and was produced for 22 years, even though it's a newer aircraft (deployed... 13 years after the 747). So, yes, sometimes 10 (or more) years may be a difference, but a good design makes a larger difference!
By the same token doesn't mean all F4's were built before Vietnam... And even if they were, ever heard of MLUs? A certain north american country is really fond of them, and for very good reasons.
Anyway, the whole discussion is moot since we're talking of a country that was last "threatened" in the 19th century and whose need of an active air force is mostly for search and rescue, and to shoot down drug dealers flying Cessnas over the amazon.

I'll speak in english because is the universal language. Nice clip, soon I'll join the Brazil Navy and I can't wait anymore, I'll be a skyhawk pilot and maybe F-18 or Mirage 2000 pilot and I want to walk over a carrier, never seen one in my life, only on tv. And Brazil and USA are allies, they train us with they Goshawk in they army so we can learn how to pilot a jot aircraft and land on the carrier, by the way, Whats the name of the first song? The A-4 Skyhawk is a lightweight, single engine attack aircraft. It is said to be one of the most famous attack aircrafts ever designed. The short range attack and close support aircraft was originally intended for the U.S. Navy and Marine forces. The A-4F variant was a refinement of A-4E. It has extra avionics housed in a hump on the fuselage spine. Some of this variant served with Blue Angels acrobatic team during 1973 to 1986

The pilots of the Blue Angels enjoyed flying the A-4 Skyhawk because it is easy to maintain and the accident rate was quite low. Eventually, there were new aircrafts that replaced the Skyhawk. It retired in 1976 for the U.S. Navy while in 1998 in U.S. Marine Corps. However it is still active in other countries.

I wish i had gone to the navy to ride one of these little beasts. I know they are old. but they look very pretty, as classic cars from the sixties or seventies. The newer jetfighters arent pretty they are really ugly things like the stealth fighter. I love the Phantons, the F5´s Like I love the Mustangs
or the Trans Ams ( cars form the 70´s ).
Nice to see these classy jets piloted in Brazil.

Yea, A-4s don't have launch bars so they have those cable setups. Honestly, I have no idea what they're called, before my time, but I know they used to be pretty common (F-4s used the same thing)

"Catapult bridle". It's a short piece of cable, and the protrusions on the front of the US Ships (up until about CVN-70 i think they were still commonplace) were for catching them.

I think brazilian pilots seem well trained, however, they have no history of being involved in any such air battles. But it doesnt matter. They are flying well in this video...

Old planes!? Please, take a look in the "old" F5-M that belongs to Brazilian Air Force! They have: BVR Missile, LDSD, HOTAS, Night Vision, display in the helmet, datalink, glass cockpit, etc... This "old" plane shot down 2 French Mirage 2000 in a exercise here in Brazil!

True enough... but it doesn't mean the old design is necessarily obsolete. Take the 747 for example, it is still in production after 48 years. The 757 line by comparison is out of production and was produced for 22 years, even though it's a newer aircraft (deployed... 13 years after the 747). So, yes, sometimes 10 (or more) years may be a difference, but a good design makes a larger difference!

Anyway, the whole discussion is moot since we're talking of a country that was last "threatened" in the 19th century and whose need of an active air force is mostly for search and rescue, and to shoot down drug dealers flying Cessnas over the amazon.
