  • Wow! Thank yopu sooo much for the information really, it's obvious that you are a big big fan of Rosy Armen and the Armenian culture, to be sincere I have never had any exposure to this beautiful culture, so Rosy Armen is my first link. As you may have seen, I'm a deep admirer of the 60s, and wow, Rosy Armen is amazing. I'm biting my nails to see more from your amazing collection!

    Cheers,

    JP

  • can you tell me which songs were recorded in the 1960s?

  • My first exposure to Rosy Armen was around 1972, 1973 or 1974 when she visited on TOUR. It is possible it was even 1971. It also could have been 1975.

In the 1970's we heard this music in our home.

Years later, I found out she had a French album, and purchase dit immediately.

Also, she did a cassette in 1989 or 1990, about a year or two after

the devastating December 1988 earthquake in Armenia, with a portion of the proceeds (profits) going to Armenia.

  • In about 2000 or 2001, possibly 2001, those songs were re-released by Dikran or Dickran Bezirgenian, in Los Angeles, himself a singer (from a not-so great selling Armenian music cassette I have) if I am not mistaken.

  • These 'classical' sounding songs combined the music of great Armenian authors / folklore populaire, and the 15-piece orchestra playing re-arrangements of them authored by her (I believe) Spanish husband -- the late Armand Migiani. Armand Migiani's music, as you can hear, was incredibly well-arranged. Some of the songs were made more Spanish, European, or even Hellenic in sound or singing quality, but it made the forgotten songs more appealing to wider audience, but not to ALL Armenian purists.

  • So...the songs I heard in the 1970's were recorded in the 1970's, or more probably, in the late 1960's, in France or Spain. The label was IBERIA so it was probably recorded in Spain.

I have ARANJUEZ and a BUNCH of songs written by MICHEL LEGRAND and ARAM KHACHADOURIAN sung in FRENCH, including LA ROSE NOIRE and VANIA by A.K and the 1970's classics written by Michel LeGrand.

  • I found out most all of her songs were recorded in the late 1960's but were made popular in the 1970's, and on occasion re-recorded.

  • ARTSAKH IS ARMENIAN FOREVER.
