@Chaosmarine1 Space Marines are powerful, in Tabletop but so are all the other races hence why they still need large numbers. Have you ever faced a death company army before or 1st Company of any SM chapter in the TT. I'm sure you will agree then that SM are fine as they are.

Your assuming SM are the most powerful militry force in W40K universe, well they arn't. The only exception to this would be Custodes considering they are gene-seed from the emporer.

@alterdbyme it's more like, the only thing the mechanicus CAN still do is maintain and repair the stuff that is there. the tech isn't forgotten... What is forgotten however is how to build most of it from scratch. Even Space marine armor gets Recycled. there's just no progress because all creative thinkers are deemed heretics and therefore either expunged or turned into Battle Servitors. The rest of the people is turned into cannon fodder, since it's compulsory to join the Imperial Guard.

thats wrong the imperial guard are more defence and the space marines (the original gene seeds were from the emperor.) the space marines are the warriors they attack while the guard defend hence in the book battle of ultra mar they defended and space marines attack however they do sometimes attack but only if they have high command or inquisitors tell them so or sumin similar to that i cant remember

the imperial guard often get's thrown into battle for offence, if there are no space marine battle barges avalible, therefore the imperial guard are with milions at the time, they simply swarm the plannet first to soften up defences, then the space marines come in and finish the job. that's why I think the guard are the real hero's of the imperium.

Excatly, I have just started playin 40k table top and ur right. U can easily make a space marine strong enough so a chapter is small but badass. Im daemonhunters but used to be space marines. My marines were composed of mostly heavy support troops. Dawn of War exeggerates WAYY to much. It takes at least a couple shots to kill a marine. I perfer the table top but onece Again ChaosMarine1 is very right. YOU ROCK and SO DO THE MARINES!!!

Think your confused, this is the Introduction to Tau Fire warrior mixed in with the Dawn of War Original introduction, a good mix but everyone seems to forget "Fire Warrior" ... You're both right. There could be more Space Marines, but that would be considered heresy. However, it would be enormously expensive and there are not nearly enough suits to equip the entire Imperial Guard. There could be a significantly larger number of Space Marines though.
