Night at the museum 2 ... Actually not bad at the beginning . But the end sucks like hell !!! Ben Stiller sold his company and be a night guard once again ??/ That's the stupidest thing i've even watch .. hey , People , I wanna ask you one simple question ... If you have a succesful job , a good company , will you leave it all and become a NIGHT GUARD at a museum ??????
@ritojavrie It's not about beiing a night guard. It's about doing what you love, with people that you love. Larry is far more happier in the museum than in that other job, so he went back to the things he love and I would do the same!
I loved the first Night at the Museum! It was both fun and interesting, whether or not it's historically accurate. Battle of the Smithsonian is a decent enough sequel, but not superior as some would say. It lost the interesting characters, but gained a sense of adventure, while still being fun.
It makes me wonder what they could possibly do for the third one.... :)
amazing movie, it made no sense to half the people there but that didnt stop everyone from laughing and having fun, from a critics point of you its not that good but for having fun its probably the best movie out right now
Not bad movie but inferior comparing to first one-It's simply too childish but despite that ben stiller remains one of the best comedians today,i give it 6 out of 10
Night at the Museum would be fantastic in the Louvre!
I think Hollywood should put more effort into following historical facts better, but in saying that - their job is entertainment, historical facts can be found through books and the internet.
A huge flaw for me was that their were so many loose ends that were never taken care of. I would have given it an 8, maybe a 9.
I enjoyed the film but it didn't have the same depth as the first, I mean you had Stiller's relationship with the girl and the evil old guys, but this one had just one layer. I liked the comedy but there is better out there. It's a film for a rainy day 8.7/10
I loved this movie! It was fun, funny, and boy did i have good time! Although, Amy Adams' Amelia Earheart ruined the movie for me a little bit. Earheart wasn't any thing like Adam's role! Still, I loved it.
As far as should Hollywood concern themselves with accuracy, I don't expect it when I see a comedy but for a drama, I think they should. I work in health care & cannot stand movies or TV shows set in a hospital due to the ridiculous amount of in accuracies. In fact, of all the TV medical shows out there, the one closest to what really goes on in a hospital is Scrubs. That should tell you a lot right there.
number 2 was very funny, great characters. number one was better but your still gotta love # 2. i think the enemy (cahmunrah) should have been related to someone people would remember more, i mean, achmanrah didn't even come to the smithsonian. and also amelia airheart was a lot different then i thought she would be, not that i would know what she is supposed to be like but still,..... anyway good movie, must see!
if hollywood is going to make a "historical" movie, they should either go out of their way to get it right, or dont even bother with trying to add historical aspects
What do Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen (eww), Jonah Hill (eww), & Bill Maher (eww) & Sarah Silverman ALL HAVE IN COMMON?
Hint: They are blood brothers / sister with Adam Sandler, Larry King, Jerry Seinfeld & Jon Stewart as example. Give up? They ARE ALL JEWISH...
Lets play count the Jewish actors...
Search for: An Empire of Their Own: How the Jews Invented Hollywood. The Jewish are prevalent in movies, TV, & the media because they invented it! COOL
No, I don't think so. It's Amy Adams, that's for sure but the girl at the end is not Amelia Earheart. It's a girl that Larry just meat in the museum. I didn't like the ending cause I think Larry was better with Amelia.
Night at the Museum 1, instant classic. You feel sorrow for a Dad in a tough time. Plenty of character development, etc. 9/10*
Night at the Museum 2, instant crap. You feel dumb with every nonchalant conversation a nightguard has with Al Capone. You care about no character, Larry Daley is a millionaire with no problems, all characters are underdeveloped, and all beloved characters from the previous movies that aren't huge name actors get very few scenes, etc. 5/10*
I don't think #2 has much of a chance as #1. Half the comedy in #1 was Larry finding out that the museum did indeed come to life, and learning how to cope with it.
the problem with being historically inaccurate is the same problem you get from telling lies. people find out, then they start questioning the whole thing. either that, or the lie becomes 'reality', which causes all sorts of problems when people make decision on it.
in this film, the 'great historical figures' are mostly white. . . this is inaccurate but more than that, it promotes racism by omission.
entertainment is important, but using it as an excuse to lie about reality is not ok.
It promotes racism? I think that you promoted racism by actually addressing that fact. It isn't something you notice and as crazychris said, "you really need to shut up."
Historically accurate? Are you joking?! This is a movie for children! Do you really believe any of the historical figures act as they do? Come on. Seriously get over it. This is a movie...Not a documentary on racism.
that is my point. you are teaching kids that everyone in history who was important was a white man. almost all the leads in the trailer are white guys. even the egyptian is played by a white guy. its like that scene in malcolm X where denzel tells the pastor that the picture on the wall is wrong. . . jesus was not a white guy. that is not just about 'historical accuracy' anymore, it is about how people use history to justify discrimination based on race and gender.
I'm black but I still can't name very many famous blacks that I would like to watch share comical exchanges with Ben Steller. Cultural history, sadly, doesn't make film like standard does. Usually it is way to sad and depressing. If Martin Luther King was in the movie children wouldn't care about him unless he wasn't unfunny or vulgar. Children. who this film was made for, care nothing about color if they are nurtured correctly.
I'm going to see this. The girl who plays Amelia is pretty hot. This girl in the review has a bit of man voice. If she gives a sucky review of Transformers ROTF I'm gonna be angry. Wow those kids are cool for saying it was so childish and crap >_> so gangsta' >:/
I think Hollywood should strike a balance between history and fun. This movie was a little bad though... there was almost no story. They could have thought of something better. Bill Hader was awesome as Custer though and Amy Adams did well too.
If hollywood is specifically going for a historical film, than yes it should be as accurate as possible.
Night at the museum is a fantasy, with a magic egyptian artifact making them alive. By logic they should all be Egyptian people in those bodies, not the actual people they look.
who cares about accuracy, kids still learn, just by asking who they are, like amelia earhart.. she died doing what she loved .. but it doesnt say in the film and it leaves it open for children to look things up, and learn in their own time..its a great movie, just enjoy.. boom, boom firepower!
Asking people to grade movies two steps out of the theatre can be tricky, because everyone's so juiced up. I've been in love with movies on my way to the car that I went on to hate a few days later.
Like some others have said, if the movie is slated as a "true" story or as being historically accurate then I think they have an obligation to live up to that claim. However this movie is clearly fantasy so I think it's ok.
Also, some leeway is allowed for historical things as there is usually not cameras or dictators around recording exactly what happens at any given moment. Just as long as it remains true to the source of the material.
I think Hollywood only needs to be concerned about accuracy if they specifically come out and say that something is true, or do a film that implies historical accuracy like a biographical film or the "true"/behind the scenes story of something. I think this film is fine because it's about wax figures and statues, etc. and drops a few facts carelessly. No one's watching hoping to pass a history class. Hopefully.
Holywood has no obligation to make things accurate as long as they let the public know that the film is based on true events. Unfortunately this does not process for some that it's not ALL true.
I dunno if I wanna see this cuz I saw the previews and it looks like there's funny situations but the writing isn't funny. I saw a sneak peek with Jonah Hill and Ben Stiller having a conversation and it wasn't really funny. It was a good idea, but the writing didn't make it funny. I guess I need to see the movie though but I can wait for DVD
I think that movies like Gladiator, 300 and so are just made for entertain... but when you get "historical" references, like having Lincon, Rossevelt or even Amelia Earhart... you got to keep faithful to history
I'm not really looking forward to this movie so I give it a 7
I think I might see this movie, the trailer was pretty funny and I enjoyed the last one.
About movies being historical accurate, why not. I don't see why a movie cant be entertaining and accurate at the same time. That way it satisfies all.
AMC theaters have fake IMAX and need to be referred to as "fake IMAX". The screens are only alittle bigger then regular screens and the theaters don't use the true IMAX sound system. Don't throw your money away. If you want a IMAX experience go to a true IMAX theater, hear and see the difference!
300 is meant to be more geared towards following the graphic novel correctly than historical events. I think you could say it was more for entertainment.
I say that a movie like this should be historally accurate because some kids will take all the info to heart and will be falsly informed but other movies like braveheart,300 and gladiator should not because those movies were not made to be educational and most adults will see that it is just a movie.
i dnt like this movie, i dint like first one either, its just stupid and i cdnt reeally care about the characters much like most of Ben Stillers movies
I really didn't like 300 but it never said it was historically correct and more based on a graphic novel. So as long as film makes sure that it says its been made more fictionally then its ok by me.
Not a huge Ben Stiller fan but I can see a third one based in London.
Historical accuracy should be taken into consideration but not at the expense of story and entertainment. Audiences should know it's a movie, meaning they need to adapt it for the film medium.
Ohh & I Noticed More People Showed Up For Night At The Museum 2 Than Terminator Salvation Wonder If That Could Affect The Box Office Results Or If Is Too Early To Tell. But Is It Worth In Imax Or What? Anybody!?

Not a huge Ben Stiller fan but I can see a third one based in London.
great 'eh' shirt btw

Historical accuracy should be taken into consideration but not at the expense of story and entertainment. Audiences should know it's a movie, meaning they need to adapt it for the film medium.

I think Hollywood makes historical movies just to entertain audiences, as none of the ones I seen is historical.
