  • I've had this my whole life been homeless most my life. Living in a shelter now but I tell you it never goes away. My years of drugs and alcihol abuse just made the ride more Insane.veen on meds for 3 years but they dont help much. I am 40 now but feel it the same as when I was 7.

  • I swear to god, sometimes I want to kill myself because of this HORRIBLE disorder. At school, I feel like a total outcast and people just alienate me because I don't ever say anything. I want to but it's just so damn hard. If I ever get put on the spot by the teacher in class, I start having an anxiety attack because i can feel other people's eyes on me. I hate it. HATE it when people stare at me...

  • The people that don't understand usually tells me to just "snap out of it". If I could just do that, I would in a heartbeat, so I just fake it. It's the most terrible feeling. I try to fight it, but whether I win over it or not, at the end of the day, I still feel defeated, weak and burned out. Since we have to be exposed so we can put food on the table, it's become a daily event for me.

  • i think of this as a perfectionist disorder

  • not being vain but im really hot but i cant manage to talk to anyone properly because of this shit..it makes people think im stuck up but im just a shy loser lol

  • @MsThegirlyoudontknow Yeah, people are always saying that life is easier for good looking people, but what's the point in attractiveness when a person is so shy they can't talk comfortably to anyone?

  • Now I'm in a dorm in college and I panic. I get too scared to go to the bathroom that I'll hold it until late at night when everyone is sleeping. I want help, but it doesn't help you have SA and are scared of going to a therapist.

  • @beanybudd

i know i'm a total stranger, but if u need someone to talk to , msg me. hang in there, ok?

  • @dojobsu i really appreciate it :) Some moments are better than others, but I think it's time I put this problem to an end and get help! Thank you :) :)

  • @beanybudd i failed college last year because of s a d man i threw a whole lot away im 20 and life has been shit

  • These quotes are soooo inspiring to me. Kim Basigner said things exactly as they are going for me. I'll go out in public, have a good time maybe, feel drained after, then want to hide as long as I can. When I dress up, I regret it, knowing that I don't want people looking at me. I get so scared of seeing people I may know or any kind of situation I can't control, and never want to leave my house.

  • I think it's very empowering to read quotes from people who have suffered from SAD and to consider what they have achieved.

  • Idk what I have.. I always get nervous when I'm put on the spot in school or asked to answer a question and do presentations but I think most people are like that, but I'm not afraid to go out and do stuff and talk to people I'm fine with that no problem I just hate public speaking and presentations.. Idk what's my problem

  • I've been struggling with this my entire life and I'm 35. This disorder sometimes makes me feel like I'm broken or something. Very frustrating! The worst is having SAD while being in high school ... Now that is hellish.

  • @kljMN2 Agreed, worst time of my life, felt like a concentration camp.

  • @kljMN2 That's great to know. Next year I'll be in high school :( I have SAD and I've had it all my life too.

  • @kljMN2 im in highschool now, and yeah, it sucks . im thinking maybe i can try starting over, and going to a new school , in a new town..but thats not going to change because i will still have this disorder.

  • @kljMN2 Yeah, same for me except I'm 15...

  • @kljMN2 I'm in highschool right now. I have SAD. Its not that bad.

  • @XxOneTrueKillxX It gets bad at times - during presentations and group work. >.<

  • @XxOneTrueKillxX You don't have SAD if you don't think highschool is bad. Your just shy

  • @B9King937 It is bad trust me I do have SAD i have been diagnosed with it. I'm just strong and can live through my problems.

  • @XxOneTrueKillxX There are no legit tests for psychological problems such as social anxiety. Any pyschologist can "diagnose" you with that but it doesnt mean it is true. Now a days you can get an anti depressant drug soo easily. SAD breaks you down if you are "strong" and can fight through it that means you do not have SAD. SAD is for people who can't hide it. SAD is not something you can't hide or ignore if you have it there WILL be a toll you have to pay.

  • @B9King937 I have SAD. I always feel self-conscious, I blush easily, I always care about being judged. The 1st day of this semester I started blushing just because the teacher asked me a simple question. I'm really awkward and I isolate my self sometimes so I won't have to talk. I get panic attacks and everything else in class. This valentine's day I couldn't do anything because I was to anxious to talk to the girl. I have it I just view life openly and make the best of what I have.

  • @kljMN2 I feel bad for you man. I wouldnt be able to live with that the rest of my life. I had it bad when i was a kid but with practice i got it reduced to just being a little shy so its not even a disorder for me anymore thank god. You got a lot of balls living with that tho

  • @kljMN2 try seredyn it works for me

  • Life is more complicated with social phobia/Social anxiety

normal situations as go to the university can be transforming into difficult and stressful experiences or go to a restaurant or a shop

    Greetings from Catalonia

    sorry for my english

  • @DeLightToDeLirium thumbs up!

  • The other day I visited someone and I had the worst behavior my smile twitched so much and i grabbed my mouth and uggghh it was so horrble

  • Im 50 years old and have suffered from Social Anxiety from my childhood. I believe it comes from a lack of self confidence that people love you and that you care whether they love you or not. Its a self perception that you have to be perfect to be normal and your worst critic is yourself. I became a Christian at 25 and learned there is no perfection in this life and that Christ loved me at my worst so its has rehabilitated me mentally, but the flesh is slow to learn.

  • @JesusNonEnviromental

Perfectionism is dangerous, progress is good. My therapist used to say.

  • what is the name of the song in the video?

  • thank you for posting this message!

  • I got social phobia nd adhd nd will smith got adhd so i remind people of will smith wen im not fellin social anxiety

  • I love watching this video. It shows me that there are people out there just like me and I'm not crazy.

  • Shit's fucked.

  • public speaking sucks balls

  • @somotastic21 social anxiety isn't exactly the same as public speaking...just sayn

  • @karp821 They are very much interlinked

  • @somotastic21 Not saying they aren't. However, you don't have to be anxious about speaking in public to experience social anxiety. It could be as simple as walking through a crowded store. Even when there are no expectations of speaking social anxiety can occur.

  • @karp821 I know. I have social anxiety

  • @somotastic21 Yea. It sucks. I hate trying to explain it to people. I pretty much gave up on it. The worst is when people say, oh I have social anxiety too. They think being nervous is the same thing. It's not. Well, since you have social anxiety too, I'm glad to know you.

  • @karp821 Same here :) And yes it is frustrating when people don't understand it

  • @karp821 yeah its definitely not the same. Living with SAD limits your every day life to almost nothing.

  • You didn't mention Trent Reznor, he had a very severe S.A.D., which reflects in his music.

  • @Vojife Trent Resznor, are you serious? Where is this documented?

  • I feel like I might have this im such a loser. =[

  • @27tmangs I do have it...

  • @27tmangs your not a loser!

  • @27tmangs Your not a loser, I have it too, I know how you feel.

  • @Brittnoiserz

what have u done to overcome this piece of shit

  • (3rd part) then, all of a sudden...I just broke down, I was crying....I'm all like, Oh shit...this isn't happening! I was so embarrased. So, I'm there crying in front of my Mom, Dad, and sister...they were just looking at me like, "what's wrong?" I just told them that I didn't really want to be there cuz I was freaking out...yes, it got that bad...so, I leave the restaurant...holding my tears cuz I didn't want other ppl seeing me cry and I just went to the car and cried. It was the worst...8(.

  • @TheLiZabe89 Ugh dude, whats the big deal with restaurants?? No one cares about what u eating or how you eat, they're more worried about themselves, just like you are with yourself..People are selfish, they only truly care about their own nose. Keep that thought in ur head.

  • @Mursilia Do you have social anxiety disorder?

  • @TheLiZabe89 Yes i've struggled with social anxiety. Not a extreme case but still.

  • @TheLiZabe89 How old are you?

  • (my 2nd part to my story)...and, yeah...I just wanted to leave but I couldn't because my food wasn't served to me yet. Couple of mins. later, my food got here...and I couldn't eat, I was too nervous. I froze up, I felt horrible...I couldn't move because I thought I was gonna have a muscle spasm or something...and I didn't want to look stupid. I didn't want people looking at me...my heart was beating so fast, my palms were sweating, I felt hot n cold...I was really nervous and then, all of

  • The worst experience I've had with my s.a.d. was this year...it happened in a restaurant, I didn't even want to go there...I was already foreshadowing how scary and how nervous I was going to get before going in. So, I was just telling myself..."I can do this, it's no big deal." Boy, was I wrong! I went in and it was okay...not many people, so I wasn't that nervous but then more people started coming in and I was sitting at the worst spot, right in the middle tables...surrounded by many people.

  • @Brittnoiserz: hey research something called EFT which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique which is a useful, quick to learn tool that can ease phobias, anxiety etc. Have a look at this site for more info or do your own search on Google: eftuniverse(.)com

  • I've been a performer and on stage from one degree to another since I was 15 years old and now, in Hollywood, persuing my dream as an actor, 30 years later, I still deal with anxiety that is debilitating. I have asked myself, "why do I subject myself to this pain" and, yet, in spite of such self reflection I still press forward; auditioning, new situations, etc... I have no anwer. It is what it is- though, after watching this video, for the first time, I do not feel alone in my struggle. - L

  • @Lawrencebucher66 I am an actor too, Lawrence. Being in a scene is one of the few times I feel completely free, at least at the moment. I really do think we must have more courage than most people-- because to be in a profession which REQUIRES all attention to be on you, and to be afraid of being the center of attention, that's really something.

Besides, I KNOW I can get over this-- I haven't had it all my life, and neither have you. It's not something you are born with.

  • i got over my social anxiety so easily and didnt realize it...if you want to ask me questions about how i did it message me..it all wont fit in this description..ill tell you 1 thing that for sure works....think before you speak...and be realistic..all people have anxiety when speaking to others..its human nature...why do you think loud people hang with other loud people...they have ANXIETY around quiet people..its life..just talk to people if you want to..any questions message..happy to help!!!

  • @FLATFEET3 you probably didn't have it in the first place if it was THAT easy for you. Cause I damn sure couldn't do that even if I tried.

  • @RockaWear2183 nah mines was ROUGH and on top of that im black..its ALOT harder for us on the count of social pressure such as stereotypes...the standard for us is higher..people in my community dont help or understand the situation..one thing i did was get self esteem..focus on your good qualities and not the bad..thats how i got over my anxiety..trust me..i almost didnt graduate becuase i couldnt look people in the eyes..my family thought i was weird..i was always bullied but not anymore!! :)

  • You forgot to mention Kristine Stewart! She totally has it!

  • @kimkrisrich I know right? I was gonna say that myself... hers is very apparent and people often mistake her for being shy or worse 'cranky' :( ... I soo feel for her

  • @Brittnoiserz ive had it nearly all my life since 12 years old, im 27 now. Its funny to think of it at an outsider view, but for me everyday im so damn tired. Everyone asks me why are you so tired, college is so easy compared to a job you should be enjoying it. Well I do enjoy college but, when panic attacks start coming its like hell.

  • how did ricky williams do so good playing sports in front of ppl

  • Thanks for this video Stuart! Helps to know your not alone

  • It sucks having social anxiety disorder! I hate it. Most people don't understand what it is so they just think your crazy or weird or somethin. I don't know where to get help but I still try doin things. I manage to go to the movies and shoppin sometimes. I go out to eat rarely like once or twice a year. I can't work, going thru a interview and workin with people I don't know is torture. Its a struggle to do anything. I just stay in my room online or somethin. Anyone want to talk, message me.

  • I sit and say nothing. Thinking of how the fuck i can fix myself. But to no avail. Nothing changes.

  • The celebrities in this video do not necessarily have SAD. Only Donnie Osmond actually said he has it in an interview. Everyone else just made comments about anxiety or other issues and you are assuming they have SAD. It would be nice if a video about celebrities that have SAD actually HAD the disorder.

  • This really made me cry.

  • Well of course their number ONE fear is speaking in public and THEN death. Because speaking is something you face when you're alive, death is something that happens when it happens, most of us don't have to face it any time soon and when we do, that's that.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, for making this video. It really made my day a lot better. <3

  • This was really well done. Thanks.

  • Thankyou so much for giving us this video. I had no idea so many celebrities had SAD and it helps to know that it can be overcome and you cans till reach your dreams. Btw what is the music used?!

  • Thank you for this video, you are encouraging so many people.... :) good for you

    Aimee

  • I have an anxiety disorder, and agoraphobia. I feel bad for Kim Basinger because she is such a beautiful talented lady. :( Hopefully it is better for her now.

  • See, I have no problems getting up in front of a bunch of people and talking, but having a conversation with people I don't know well scares me so much that I've barely done anything social for years.

  • We are still very strong inside. Nothing can defeat that.

  • Is the text on the screen real? How could an actress have such bad grammar?

  • @nintwiggy6491 oops it was only the 1st celebrity

  • This made me cry

  • Such a brilliant video. Thank yuo so much! Could you possibly tell me the music used in the background throughout?

  • wow , thnx .... but what about stutter ??!! do u think of any celebrities have any stuttering or being so so shy ??!!!

  • Thank you for this video.

  • @Brittnoiserz I agree, and to anyone making this a superficial matter: anxiety isn't intrinsically caught up in physical appearance. It comes about due to subjective experience. It doesn't matter how attractive you are if you have had inadequate parenting or experienced trauma. Countless things can lead to paranoia.

  • @DeLightToDeLirium And on a sidenote, I've seen StarburstChic and she's cute.

  • @DeLightToDeLirium : thank you.

  • @DeLightToDeLirium its not paranoia, but hyper sensitivity. i had to change many aspects of my life. what i ate and drank, my sleeping patterns, excercise and things. my whole life i felt completely alienated from the world. to many i was a dumb mute. but over the years (im 24 now) im getting better. i'll never be perfect but no one is :)

  • that is very amazing i need to clear my anxiety because i want to become an actress one day. i have always wanted to be an actress ever since i was a little girl. i also have the aspergers syndrome which is a different form of autism. my mom says the autism part gives me the talents... and i was shocked.

  • @krnekiizhriba They are clearly lying about some of these celebrities. A person with social anxiety disorder could never be like Barbra Streisand. Even the thought of public speaking is to much for someone with SAD.

  • this made me feel less alone

  • @shinznay I feel your pain. There are so many of us who are suffering alone from this disorder. I'm 28 and i think the older you get it's even worst. I'm so tired of people asking why a good looking guy like me is still single. We need to really support each other. Contact me anytime if you wanna talk or chat.

  • @demarioda1 the same with me! they ask me why i dont have a boyfriend, why i dont want to go out to parties, im just like some freak :( its horrable. and thank you, i feel less alone knowing there are people in the same situation as me xxx

  • @demarioda1 You are definately not alone. There are millions of people who suffer from this. What's crazy is that no one really seems to talk about it.

  • @demarioda1 im 28 too with fresh onset anxiety...and im really attractive.... with BDD too. ive never seen a dr before in my life until i started having panic and anxiety.. thot i was dying. anyway message me sometime. :)

  • @shinznay : yea, me too.

  • What's the name of the song

  • actually I was quite heartened by this clip. It's good to know there are people out there dedicating their time and talents to helping others without any thought of reward for themselves..thank you Stuart for making this

  • Please read the book: The highly sensitive person and The introvert advantage. There is nothing wrong with you. You live in a society that suppress your personality. A society where people put a smile on and act nice, but the truth is different, and the vibes they send out, you feel. So in reality you are an Empat. Psychiatrist and the extrovert society do not feel this way, and make you feel wrong instead of researching what it’s really about. You FEEL others feelings.

  • ever wonder why hot people dont usually have social anxiety? lol

  • @Since1907baby i thinks its because as much as people hate to admit society still really cares about looks. unnattractive people have to replace their deficit in good looks for other stuff such as being nice or funny and if they feel that they don't than their going to feel more anxious about people liking them since they don't have as good qualities.

  • @Since1907baby for example my best friend happens to be very attractive and me not so much, guys tend to flock to her and accept her flaws more because she is beautiful then you have me who has to work at getting them to warm up to me by finding some way to make myself more appealing so i have to depend on my personality. I don't think I have a good personality so the thought of conversation makes me nervous

  • @MsStarburstChic I know what you mean. Thats why some girls give it up easy, to make up for their relative disadvantage. Looks are very subjective, most hot girls don't even have a perfect face or body. Its really the way they carry themselves. Its psychological, guys pick up on attitude just by looking at them and automatically decide if their hot or not. If you act like your hot and always have been, dress and carry yourself that way...they will believe your hot! Unless your verydumb & hideous

  • @Since1907baby : not always true. I've met a few attractive people with it.

  • @Since1907baby Attractiveness has nothing to do with social anxiety. Anxiety is something thats felt on the inside, so a "hot" person can appear perfectly fine but have internal anxiety. I have this disorder and am complemented frequently on my appearance. I have known tons of outgoing people who were unattractive and quieter people who were attractive.

  • 1:25 hey spooky vision

  • @MarieIris what are those books titled?? :)

  • doesnt jonny depp have it too? i've seen his interview in one of the night shows and he did look nervous.

  • you forgot kristen stewart,she's REALLY messed-up...and thats why i love her : )

  • thank you so much. I am just like these people...can put on a front and people would never know how much it takes to get out of the house....thank you for uploading this....I pray for better days...days when I can hold down a job and things :-)

  • @Lyn7721 Ok, but. In every day language people may say: she had a panic attac because she saw a spider. However that DOESN'T mean that this person actully has a diagnosed panic attac disorder, where panic attacks are caused by nothing specific, not being afraid of people or animals. It's just every day language, that we hear often, it's a mistaken diagnosis of aragnofobia(fear of spiders). People just see a reaction for spider or smt else. It's not panic attack disorder, it's other fobia.

  • @Lyn7721 I have had panic attacs, and agorafobia, and let me guarantee you , they have nothing to do with other people, or being afraid of social situations or other people. it's just simply a fear of leaving your safety place too far. Panic attacs are caused chemical inbalance in brain. It's lack of serotonine in brain.Nothing to do with other people.

  • english isn't my first language, but according my understanding agorafobia and social anxiety ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS. They are not the same at all. Person can have agorafobia, but isn't not afraid of social situations or other people at all. It annoys me when these 2 are put together. as if agorafobics would be afraid of social situations.

  • this disorder is baffling to me and i have had it for more than 20 years. nothing has helped...

  • @delisubgnome Have you tried cognitive behavioral therapy? It worked for me. I can recommend some good books, too.

  • Check my channel for a documentary on S.A.D. called "Afraid of People: A Social Anxiety Disorder Documentary"

  • Only evil in this world are negative thoughts. Once you get into trap of brain you can never come out of it. by watching these type of videos. I am originally from India. try breathing exercises that will make you fearless as god. You all will become super confident but for that you have to put slight effort and keep faith in it. Visit my channel and try" kapalbhati pranayama" or just search for it in you tube. Just practice every day 15 minutes.

  • Omg I love this song! Gladiator is one of my favorite movies! And this is a very well made video :)

  • this is a joke, If she had social disorder, you would just freez up or studder, then feel like shit and just leave.

  • @JayMunozMMA

    Wrong.

  • @YourGamesAndMusic no ur wrong dipshit i have s.a.d i know serious cases of social disorder. she doesnt even have it. You wouldnt even be able to talk infront of people on a microphone like that.

  • Marilyn Monroe's diary pages were published in a book called Fragments recently and it sounded like she had bouts of anxiety disorder at certain times.

  • Wow, I didn't now that Kim Basinger had social anxiety. Thanks for that video!

  • what song is this? This video is beautiful, thanks so much for sharing:)

  • @XsoEmiXD

Soundtrack from the Gladiator, the movie.

  • well if people like them can have it and get over it , there is hope for all of us!

  • I think Michael Jackson might have had Social Anxiety Disorder but never knew it.

  • @barnesfam Michael Jackson did surely have some form of anxiety disorder. It's hard to tell what kind it was though, but SAD fits a number of his symptoms, like the perfectionism, lack of self-assurance and lack of love life. He was also very self-conscious, about his looks especially. A lot of ppl wear sun glasses so that they can avoid eye contact, and I think that was the case for him.

  • sweating is what i fear, speacially in publick or new friends

  • truly inspiring for a person like me with social anxiety. I didnt know that some of these celebrities use to have this disorder. I love this video, thank you.

  • This brought tears in my eyes

  • Wow I can't thank you enough for this. I had no clue about Ricky Williams - now I have someone I can look up to

  • Thank you for this, I want to be a filmmaker when I'm older and seeing these people achieve what they have with the same problem i have is truly insipiring

  • I have only left my house around five times in the last six months.

  • wow....i really had no idea famous people had what i have...

    this is really inspiring.

  • This made me tear a little! :'( This is like having cancer! Except no one understanding how it feels.

  • Ah Lisa Gerrard, one of my fave vocalists from that Dead Can Dance group. And thanks to Kim for this. Bless the Child is one of my favorite movies that she was in. I have this disorder around all of my family members and my friends as well. It is a constant conflict between the emotional fear of being rejected and just flat out wishing that you did not or do not have to be somewhere. May God bless your work here and everyone who reads this post.

  • I too have agoraphobia =[

  • hey stuat. what is the name of the song? thanks!

  • @runtubefantasy The song is by ( Lisa Gerrard) from the Gladiator sound track. Its the last song on the CD.

  • BTW, THIS VIDEO ISNT SOCIAL ANXIETY

    SHE IS MISTAKEN.

  • @word85208 what do you mean?

  • Michael Jackson had this near the end of his life.

  • I LOVE IT.. THANK YOU FOR THIS..I love kim basinger, had no idea she was a sufferer as well.. makes me feel not so alone in this, even celebs have S.A.D. - some of which have gotten past it (:

  • I love that song!

    (Now That We Are Free)

  • Thank you Stew, I dont know you but I love you. thank you

  • Very nice indeed! just realized a few days ago i have a SAD and am going to nail that motherfucker in a little while.. There is no way im going to tolerate this shit that has been fucking up my life for so long.. thinking of all those wasted opportunities just flips me out!

  • I am not afraid of public speaking, meaning doing a speech, or performing a role etc.

But I always find that when im trying to talk to people in conversation, unless they are the closest of close friends, I feel like I dont want to talk because I feel I will say something wrong and I hate just walking with someone and not saying a single thing...

Does this mean I have a form of social anxiety?

  • @xaxie1 I have this too! Social anxiety, I think, only refers to social situations. Day-to-day things in real life, not situations where it's all set up and people therefore know exactly what to expect. say, with a speech - loud voice, say your words clearly, have good content and it's done! but when talking in conversation...I always wonder why people don';t want to talk to me again - am I being annoying or do I just remain at bare acquaintance status with them? But I'm confident acting roles
