The reason I love this commercial is because this dude is not a bad guy. He just speaks the truth: what we all think in our heads or share among our friends. He doesn't hide behind anything. If he sees something good he speaks it; something bad...he speaks it. He tries to compliment and advise people but he wasn't equipped with the know-how to do so. I personally want people around me who are like him. #justSayin'

just saw this commercial for the first time tonight...and it was sooo adorable :)) i loved it, its kinda funny how he messes up on everything and then all of a sudden..halmark saved the day!!

Here's a conundrum: if you leave out the part where he admits that he's not using his own words, the commercial keeps its sense of humor, can be considered edgy and also memorable. But it also acknowledges Hallmark's role as a purveryor of pure insincerity. That would be part of the humor and it would take a company with balls. Predictably, they end it with the same sappy bullshit that made the company infamous, and I'll have forgotten this commercial a week from now.

Brilliant commercial. We saw the Hallmark Hall Of Fame movie last night: "Front Of The Class". Great flick. The Hallmark Card ads were almost as good as the movie. Great stuff - sentimental and inspiring without being too syrupy sweet.
