Unfortunately I do not know any websites off of the top of my head, as I taught myself this song by simply listening to it and then learning it note by note. I'm pretty sure, though, you could do a simple search on google or dogpile and find exactly what you're looking for. Just search for "totoro sheet music" or "spirited away sheet music." I'm sure something is bound to come up.
Totoro was the first cartoon movie I ever watched. I will always love and respect it :]
Aghh! Then Disney went and destroyed it with Dakota Fanning. I don't get angry easily but the second I saw that they changed so much i just really wanted to punch John Lasseter in the face. Whew.
Haha my point is that when I hear this song, and especially your rendition of it, I feel less...hostility towards Disney
I'm struggling to use both my left AND right hand at the same time, any tips on how I'd be able to improve this co-ordination? :\ Great tutorial btw, they sound great separately (And I'm sure they'd sound better together if I could do it! Haha)
Instead of playing the complicated left hand at the same time, try using one note at a time. For example, when I begin to play, I make a C-G-C chord, but if you just use C, it'll be easier and help you get used to using both hands at the same time.
hey, the tutorial was great, thanks. i made it a little more complicated by adding extra notes etc. but i wouldn't have been able to learn the base of the song without you XD. can you do a princess Mononoke tutorial next please? thanks loads.
I'm glad you were able to learn something from my tutorial. ( : I, actually, want to learn the theme song from Mononoke Hime, so if I get around to that, I certainly will make a tutorial.
There are black keys used. The Gsharp is used in the beginning. I think there is a couple others used throughout the song. I recommend watching my videos in high quality to get a better view of which keys I'm hitting. Don't forget that you can match notes by playing on your end while watching the video.
But... Doesn't this go in F rather than C? Not to be picky or anything, just sounds more like F when I listen to the song at the end of the movie and play along on my keyboard.
Haha hilarious, I love the ending "the video ends suddenly because..." :))) And thanks for the tutorial, am seriously considering starting taking piano lessons 'cause I love all Hisaishi/Miyazaki collaborations too much.
On Totoro or Castle in the Sky? If it's Totoro, then I'd recommend reviewing this song a couple more times and try to play it at the same time on the piano to learn the timing for the bass and treble.
on totoro, i can easily play the right hand, but than when it gets to the left hand i get kind of confused cause when you play left hand, i look at the right to see what goes with it, then i miss what the other note was for left hand, and even pausing over and over again doesnt work for me : /
My mother is from Fukuoka, down in Kyushu. My father is basically "American." He's half Irish and half English...with possibly a tiny bit of French thrown in...maybe 1%.
can you give me the notes?

its not bad. but why do u only use the 2nd finger for both hands for most of the song
its much easier if you use all ur fingers
WestleyLam 2 years ago
Oh, for tutorials, I just use one finger at a time to show viewers which keys I'm hitting without confusing them.

ladulaser 3 years ago
You're probably right. Often, when I get a song stuck in my head, it's in the key of C due to how often I play on the C scale.
