  • can you give me the notes?

  • hey can you tell me where i could get totoro or spirted away pianos songs notes . please

  • Unfortunately I do not know any websites off of the top of my head, as I taught myself this song by simply listening to it and then learning it note by note. I'm pretty sure, though, you could do a simple search on google or dogpile and find exactly what you're looking for. Just search for "totoro sheet music" or "spirited away sheet music." I'm sure something is bound to come up.

  • My keyboard :)

  • Omg thanks

  • You are most welcome. ( :

  • Thank you!!

  • Sure thing. ( :

  • It's 2 am and I now I can't stop playing it! damn youuuuuu!!! I'm kidding, you made my day :)

  • Hehehe, it's such a fun song to play. ( :

  • Do you have sheet music for this song?

  • I'm sorry, but I don't. I can't read sheet music, so I never got them.

  • @ryukenosuke Okay, thank you. This tutorial is great, though! Maybe I'll try and write the sheet music based off of it.

  • Sounds like a great plan. ( :

  • Thank you for making this! ^_^

  • Sure thing. ( :

Thank you for watching this! ^_^

  • Could you post the notes for this song?

  • Is it possible for you to post the notes on this for both parts? I really like this song!!!

  • Thank you so much for making this video! It helped me a lot!

  • You're welcome. I'm glad that it was helpful to you. ( :

  • @ryukenosuke These movies are so cool, aren't they? I've learnt how to play 'One Summer's Day' From Spirited Away too.

  • thank you .-)

  • You're welcome. ^_^

  • Totoro was the first cartoon movie I ever watched. I will always love and respect it :]

Aghh! Then Disney went and destroyed it with Dakota Fanning. I don't get angry easily but the second I saw that they changed so much i just really wanted to punch John Lasseter in the face. Whew.

Haha my point is that when I hear this song, and especially your rendition of it, I feel less...hostility towards Disney

    I love what you've done

That's so amazing Truly Truly Amazing

Oh and I play by ear too! :D

  • Wow, that's a crazy explanation, but thanks for saying so. ^_^

This is precisely why I will always watch anime in Japanese so long as I have access to it as such.

  • OMG YOU'RE GREAT! I always wanted to learn this song but i can't read notes -_- know i really can learn playing it! thank you!!! Love U!!!!!!!

  • You are very welcome. I hope my tutorial will provide you with enough instruction.

    ^_^

  • thanks so much!!

usually i like more chords and to be more complicated. but I can change some of keys and add more (: Thanks!!

  • You're quite welcome.

Great idea. I'm always glad if my tutorials can at least give other musicians a foundation to build their own versions from. ( :

  • thank you so much for this tutorial! ive been looking for a decent one. :] great job!

  • Sure thing. ( : I'm always happy to help out the community as best as I can.

  • instructif !! continu

  • ???

  • @ryukenosuke LMAO ...."WTF?" xD

  • Thanks. ^ ^

  • You're quite welcome.

  • I'm struggling to use both my left AND right hand at the same time, any tips on how I'd be able to improve this co-ordination? :\ Great tutorial btw, they sound great separately (And I'm sure they'd sound better together if I could do it! Haha)

  • Instead of playing the complicated left hand at the same time, try using one note at a time. For example, when I begin to play, I make a C-G-C chord, but if you just use C, it'll be easier and help you get used to using both hands at the same time.

  • hey, the tutorial was great, thanks. i made it a little more complicated by adding extra notes etc. but i wouldn't have been able to learn the base of the song without you XD. can you do a princess Mononoke tutorial next please? thanks loads.

  • I'm glad you were able to learn something from my tutorial. ( : I, actually, want to learn the theme song from Mononoke Hime, so if I get around to that, I certainly will make a tutorial.

  • @ryukenosuke thanks =D

  • You're welcome. ( :

  • THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • You're very welcome!!!!

  • this is so good. my 10 yr old playing it now! Thankyou. Any chance of seeing some spirited away?

  • Actually, I, too, would like to learning some songs from Spirited Away, so I will in the future.

  • ThanX very much ^o^

  • in birds eye view:D

  • Yep yep! ( :

  • kk thanks:D:D:D:D:D:)

  • its not bad. but why do u only use the 2nd finger for both hands for most of the song

its much easier if you use all ur fingers

  • Oh, for tutorials, I just use one finger at a time to show viewers which keys I'm hitting without confusing them.

  • @ryukenosuke ooo okay

  • @ryukenosuke i was wondering if you had the sheet music for this song that i could have?:)

  • Sorry, but I do not know how to read sheet music, so I never got any.

  • thankyou so much!! :)

  • No no, thank YOU so very much. ( ;

  • omg i have that keyboard!

  • It's a fantastic keyboard. Great sound, 76 keys, and light enough to take it places if you need to.

  • I agree! You are great at playing, by the way.

  • ( :

    Thanks for saying so.

  • so is the whole song played on white keys only? are there any sharps or flats to play?

  • There are black keys used. The Gsharp is used in the beginning. I think there is a couple others used throughout the song. I recommend watching my videos in high quality to get a better view of which keys I'm hitting. Don't forget that you can match notes by playing on your end while watching the video.

  • But... Doesn't this go in F rather than C? Not to be picky or anything, just sounds more like F when I listen to the song at the end of the movie and play along on my keyboard.

  • You're probably right. Often, when I get a song stuck in my head, it's in the key of C due to how often I play on the C scale.

  • Haha hilarious, I love the ending "the video ends suddenly because..." :))) And thanks for the tutorial, am seriously considering starting taking piano lessons 'cause I love all Hisaishi/Miyazaki collaborations too much.

  • No prob. I hope my tutorials can be of use to you, and best of luck in re-learning the piano should you choose to do so.

  • you're so awesome!! thanks for posting this :3 i cant read notes.. xD

  • Not a problem. I wish vids like this were around when I was just beginning to learn the piano/keyboard.

  • But the only thing i cant really play is the bass part cause i dont know which notes go with which keys on the right hand.

  • On Totoro or Castle in the Sky? If it's Totoro, then I'd recommend reviewing this song a couple more times and try to play it at the same time on the piano to learn the timing for the bass and treble.

  • on totoro, i can easily play the right hand, but than when it gets to the left hand i get kind of confused cause when you play left hand, i look at the right to see what goes with it, then i miss what the other note was for left hand, and even pausing over and over again doesnt work for me : /

  • Thank you ^^

    i learned this song in

2 days since it was easy to understand :D

Can you do one on the castle in the sky theme please?:)

  • I cannot read music either. Thank you so much for uploading this!!

  • You are very welcome. (|:

  • oh ok ;D awesome tutorial anyways

  • No prob. ( :

  • hello, lol do u have the sheet music for tonari no totoro

  • Unfortunately, I do not. I cannot read music.

  • Haha, this is my favourite version of all Tonari no Totoro!! XD

Woopie for the tutorial!! :P *sucks at playing by ear*

  • Aww, I'm glad you liked it. ( :

I hope my tutorials can continue to be helpful for you.

  • thanx! acually, i'm half japanese too my mom's from nagasaki. my dad's from sweden. where are your parents from?

  • My mother is from Fukuoka, down in Kyushu. My father is basically "American." He's half Irish and half English...with possibly a tiny bit of French thrown in...maybe 1%.
