I love this worship! but Stu G their guitar player is in this worship band now called One Sonic Society! seriously go check this band out. they are doing incredible things for worship music!!
WHA??? Did i just saw a angel??? look good behind the guitarist at 0:57- 1:00! You can first see a shadow, than it clearly becomes shapen like an big person with wings.THATS RAAAW!:)
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
I wish people wouldn't say things like this. Do you really know who Jesus is?
"Let those who don't believe perish"? Don't you know that His heart breaks for each who does? Is it too hard to see the lost as someone God loves and therefore you should too? Jesus didn't just die for you so that you could sit in a high and mighty place. He sacrificed Himself so all could be rescued.
Get off your pew and start loving people the way God does.
Of course there is proof of God. It is everywhere. Ive seen enough to not have any doubt. From my friend suddenly getting his hearing back while we prayed and his jaw being rebuilt to a friend with Breast cancer that disappeared the day before the operation to a man I know who was crippled in a motorcycle accident suddenly not just walking again, but running. And then we have the change that gets made in people. It is amazing to watch.
I've seen things like that too. A friend of mine had a baby...it was born with no brain....so how that babies brain generated out of nowhere (God) and yes the case is documented and doctors classify it as a freak miracle
i am a biology major at UAB in birmingham. and after studying the world of biology up-close, i cant believe anything else besides that everything is wonderfully created by a higher being. sure, there is some possible evidence of evolution, but no solid proof. theres no solid proof that there is a God either; but after seeing how complex living creations are, i know my God is real
Have you read the part of the bible that outlines when employing apologetics of the christian faith you should do so with love and respect?
And i dont think calling someone who is not yet christian a "lesser mortal" is doing so. The reality is infact that christ done for our sins while "we were still sinners" so therefore some one cannot be anyless of a mortal than anyone.
Paul who is possibly the greatest example of a christian refered to him
God is bigger than the economy, McCain, Obama, foreign policy, abortion, bills, mortgage, debt. God is bigger than all the issues that we encounter everyday.
I always wonder why people feel compelled to listen to music that is designed and created to glorify God and then trash the listeners and try to talk us out of believing what we know to be true...any explanations?
"I'd like to see you design a better universe...".
As you know, the human race has been around for a heartbeat, relatively speaking. We have only stopped ourselves from perishing at birth, from teeth problems or by sickening wasting disease for, oh, the last 300 years. We are on a knife-edge of ability to be here, we're not even able to survive on much of this very planet and will die very soon (in universe terms). This is some design. Some universe created for us by the creator.
(cont..). If you are currently suggesting that is any evidence (let alone some) that belief in a creator is somehow justified, apart from the fact that we don't know everything (which is not a good reason), then please share it. Dark matter, our so far limited knowledge of quantum mechanics and personal experiences of God are not good arguments, that's just negative evidence (cont..)
Black holes haven't been found. Regions of space that appear to obey the predictions about the areas around black holes have, however, been identified. And, yes, I know about Newton's rules for experimental verification.
Proof by failure of disproof by elimination is a valid method. Provide proof that God doesn't exist. On a simpler note, why would organisms "evolve" traits that are useless until other organisms evolve systems to take advantage of them, such as flowers producing nectar?
If you seriously think that black holes do not exist, then I hardly think this conversation is worth continuing.
I will start looking for proof that God doesn't exist as soon as you start searching for evidence that fairies don't exist.
Your question about evolution shows that you have a sever knowledge deficit in the area of evolution and natural selection. I suggest you read up about it, I don't have enough space in this box to explain it all to you.
It's not up to me to provide proof of God's non-existance; I'm not the one making the claim. I'm also not going to look for evidence for the non-existance of unicorns. The onus is on you - the claimant - not me. By definition you can't see black holes since there's nothing to see, although the heat around them can been seen, since they generate huge amounts of energy. Animals evolve to suit environment. By the way, humans used to be shorter, just 150 years ago women were taller than men.
... That last comment... "humans used to be shorter, just 150 years ago women were taller than men."
That's a common misconception, largely started and perpetrated by the fact that doorways were made low for structural support/heat retention/to stop people riding in on horseback. If you look at suits of armour from a couple of hundred years ago, you'll soon see the average was about the same as it is today...
I'm 6'3", my best friend is 4'11"... I believe that in "the old days" there were people of heights ranging between both our heights, and outwards in both direction. There are archaeological records of people from thousands of years ago who were easily 6 foot.
Actually, it's a perfect example of a sarcastic pedant (like me) deciding to annoy a lesser mortal (e.g. you)
The average height in in a continual state of flux. It is currently slightly higher than it used to be, but not my a significant amount, and largely due to improved diets.
Here you have sought to credit evolution for something it had no effect on, and put down religion using similar reasoning.
You failed at both executing sarasm correctly and identifying an annoyed person.
50,000 years ago, we were all alot shorter and not quite as upright as we are today. New evidence suggests that we have actually only increased by approximately 2.5 inches over the past 1,000, but we're increased nontheless.
The point is, my simple and easily influenced friend, that evolution is a reality. Simple people are easily lead, ergo - you believe the Bible.
(it's "a lot", not "alot". Surely someone as intelligent as you should have known that. Plus, I don't know about you, but I wasn't around 50,000 years ago.)
I said I was a sarcastic pedant. At that point, I was being pedantic, not sarcastic. I can, however, do both simultaneously if I so wish.
If you think I am simple and easily lead, then your personal feelings are obviously clouding your judgement. Declaring evolution a reality is a bold statement. Publish your proof, and you'll be rich.
It's more likely that evolution is a reality than otherwise. Read about radiocarbon dating. Read about archaeology. Heck, read about science.
Just because something hasn't been proved, does not mean that the opposite argument is as likely. You know that to be true but you stop yourself, in the case, believing it because you are an easily lead religious person.
I know about Radiocarbon dating, and how easily it can be fooled. I know about Archaeology, and know several archaeologists. I am reading Mathematics and Physics at University, which are the "purest" of the sciences, in that all other sciences may be explained as sub-subjects of them.
It was thought more likely the atom couldn't be split than that it could, but hey, it was.
So you don't believe that those "fooled" evolutionary biologists and their silly consistent double-blind radiocarbon dating and multiple condition experiments that yeild similar data are correct. Wow, you really have something there.
Wait a minute - I'm getting the feeling you're a young Earth believer? Please tell me you are, then I'll know it's not even worth talking to you.
Oh, good, you believe in evolution, then you're not entirely fooled.
Just as all the others, you either want or need to believe in God, possibly both. More than likely due to your parents. Well have fun with that, but why not just believe in Zues or somethin? Because you were accidentally brought up in a Christian culture, that's why.
I'm not a "young Earth" believer. In case your bias against religion has hid the fact, I'm more intelligent than you seem to think. And you using my logical, scientifically supported (where I can recall evidence from my memory) arguments to get the feeling that I believe something proved incorrect means you must be less intelligent than I thought.
It may not even be worth my continuing if you're not going to be able to comprehend the information I give...
Don't be silly. There is lots of evidence for evolution and no evidence for God. Neither have been proved completely (clearly in the case of God), but since there is more (much, much more) evidence for evolution, that means that evolution is more likely.
I cannot believe that people reject evolution *because* of what is said in the Bible.
When you say evolution do you mean macro or micro? They are two very different things. To have the faith that all this could have started with a single celled organism is amazing. But where did that life form come from? Those theories are interesting. Do you not see the design that went into a cell? Perhaps the complex machines inside the cell with irreducible complexity? Or maybe you wonder how many generations died perfecting blood clotting? That is just the beginning.
I mean micro evolution, macro has never been seen to occur in science at this point.
Where did life come from... by far the most likely theory currenly is abiogenisis, a formation of amino acids (naturally occuring) put together by nucleic acids. The only remaining question is where the nucleic acids came from, it's exciting finding out though, and we will find out.
The irreduducible complexity theory is flawed, since things can build up and increase i complexity, therefore would not ..
And I know Ill not convince you, but there really is a God who loves you. I look at the world and see His magnificent creation. Youll see the processes of the works of His hands, but that is what they are. Ive always chuckled that I believe in the Bing Bang, God said and there was. My favorite evidence is a man Ill call Tom. There isnt room to detail it, but Tom was healed one morning. Hed been deaf for 20 years out of one ear. His jaw that was destroyed by the bullet rebuilt itself.
you mean life from non-life....nope im pretty sure that was shot down 200 hundred years ago....in one of Louis Pasteur's experiments he was able to make a couple amino acids...however these amino acids were actually hazardous to life....and could not have formed DNA or any protein which is absolutely necessary for life of the simplest kind, its simply impossible to form a living cell from non-life
Life is everywhere, it's common knowledge that life can be anywhere where there is water, including Mars (underground) and probably billions of other planets. It's a shame that you shoot down the scientific method so willingly in favour of ancient books.
If you are basing this common knowledge off evolution processes then wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that water would not have to be the foundation for life. But when it comes to the scientific method, arent all conclusions left on the table until disproven in the absence of bias? Im biased and say that God exists while you are just as biased saying He doesnt.
I don't know what you mean by "If you are basing this common knowledge off evolution processes then wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that water would not have to be the foundation for life."
I am not biased in thinking that God doesn't exist, I am being completely objective, if it turns out that there is a single piece of evidence for him, then I'll look into it more than willingly, but there is none. We do not even know for sure who wrote documents making up the bible.
I mean, that if evolutionary processes are the basis of life, then life should be everywhere. It is not inconceivable that life could exist without the need for water.
But you are biased, if not it wouldnt matter to you if there was or was not a God and clearly it matters to you.
I dont think you can rule out irreducible complexity simply because things are built upon one another especially if you cant document how that process could have happened. Blood clotting is one such example. There are about 200 triggers that have to happen for blood to clot properly. I dont deny changes occur within species, but I believe those are processes that are designed and not some chaotic happenstance based on need and the right amount of luck. All of creation is too ordered for that.
you can rule out the irreducible complexity theory extremely easily, take scaffolding for example - there, it's ruled out with just one example
Why is it that, because we haven't (YET) completed the puzzle of how life began, do you immediately jump to the conclusion that God did it.... you do realise that you have created a far greater issue - i.e., how did God get there? You are far more clueless about that than the origins of life issue, yet are more comfortable with it.
Obviously, the scaffolding example was a metaphor. Evolution is the process of making simple things (in the beggining), into more complex beings. Once it has reached an advanced stage (like us now), you cannot then take away anything that won't produce a serious danger, as we now rely on everything we have (eg, if we lost our eyes, we don't have a strong enough sense of smell to rely on that. It's an extremely fickle argument.
The human system is not irreducibly complex, you can live without your arms, but systems within the human and animal kingdom are. The cell is one such system consisting of machines that build other machines and they use information to build those machines. Remove any part of any of the machine and it breaks down, but where did the information come from? Even the smallest known single cell organism would take reams of paper to encode.
Here is the crux of all this - neither you nor I know all the answers regarding DNA and similar information. However, you have decided to postulate a God as the answer. The reason that you have done this is that you want to believe in this, or that your parents indoctronated you as a child. There is no other reason for jumping to that answer (and dedicating your life to it), rather than waiting for a reasonable answer - which we'll almost certanly have in the next 100 years.
Actually, I believe it because I choose to believe it. I witnessed the things God was doing in the lives of people and made my decision. If youll look down youll see a few posts of the things Ive witnessed with my own eyes. I believe it because it is real, because of what God has done in my life and in the lives of the people around me. I couldnt deny the existence of God if my life depended on it any more than I could deny this keyboard I am touching is real.
You confirmed what i said in your first sentance, "I believe it because I choose to believe it", that's exactly why anybody believes in God. You cannot possibly believe in God due to it being anything close to likely, since God is exceptionally unlikey, of that there is no arguing. Just as there is little/no chance of Thor or Zeus, you find it rmarkably easy to be an atheist as far as they're concerned, so you know what it's like to be me, the naturalist/atheist, after all.
What I confirmed was that I made the decision for myself and that decision is based in part on evidence. I've seen people healed before my eyes. Oh, I wish you could meet my friend. Miracles large and small still happen today. And, I simply know this living God in a real way.
I really do hope you get the opportunity to see God for who He is. He loves you and wants to be a part of your life. Jesus died for you so that you would have the opportunity to know Him. Feel free to email me.
Do you actively give daily credit to God for slaughtering thousands of babies every day, or do you just offer credit for the "good" miracles that he does, it seems awfully convenient , don't you think?
And why do you keep saying that God, the creator of the entire universe and the trillions of stars is a HE? That would imply bieng male with male features. This is all so rediculous, and you can't even see it.
Why would God kill thousands of babies? That sounds like choices we've made not God. Consequences of a fallen world sadly and something I am opposed to. I'm talking about someone who couldn't hear out of an ear and suddenly could, not a choice someone made.
He would be the best term that we have for His essence as a father figure, but Genesis clearly describes that God made both male and female with characteristics of His nature.
Cot death? Any generally unexpected failure of the body which isn't explained, since you attribute sudden healing to him, why not the sudden deaths of failures?
Please don't talk about the old testiment, the most evil book ever written. Unless you agree with all those innocent people that God slaughtered for NO REASON.
First, no one is innocent in the eyes of God. We've all sinned. You, me, the preacher down the street are all guilty. That is why Jesus died, to complete the law and offer pardon. The Bible makes it clear that God does on occassion demand someone's life of them, but you cannot attribute every good or bad thing solely to God. But why not suddent healings? What is it about them that offends you so?
Since you bring it up, what is evil? Where does it come from?
I don't really care if nobody is innocent in the eyes of God, I am more moral than your God. I do not reqire the arbitrary death of innocent virgins, I do not murder, I do not cause mass genocide, thus I am more moral than your God, I don't see him asking for my forgiveness for murdering a distant relative of mine.
So, any 'sin' I have commited doesn't compare to his, and I do not require his forgiveness. You are the slave of a muderer and you actually enjoy it, it makes me feel nauseous.
So much for polite conversation. God is no murderer, but He is righteous, just, and thankfully merciful. If youll recall He is the one who said murder is not good and that even the blood of Able cried out to Him.
If you wish to continue this conversation, send me an email. Your questions deserve more of a response than the comment limit.
The supposed vicarious redemption of my 'sins' are not, in fact, redeemed at all just because a man died on a cross. If I've done wrong in my life, I actively put that right personally, I do not want somebody else to shoulder the punishment, that is a disgusting idea thought up by men thousands of years ago. And can't even prove that that happened.
Okay, there is a way to shoulder the burden of your own sins. It's called Hell. I'd rather no one put themselves on the path to there. There is plenty of historical proof that a man called Jesus existed and died on a cross. The sticking point is if he rose. And who said we don't try to make our right with people. We do, with PEOPLE. But Jesus' death was about putting us right with GOD. Not people. You can't put yourself right with God. It's only be God's grace that we can be saved
Where is Hell? I can't see it. The Hubble telescope certainly hasn't picked that up.
You are so lacking in humilty think you think that a being possessing such power that YOU could never concieve would be so petty as to send a human to Hell.
If there was a creator, IT would be so much more infinate, wise and pure than the absurd charactor that moronic men came up with 2,000 years ago.
Well firstly I'd like to point out that if God was made up it would eb the Jews who made him up way more than 2000years ago =)
The point is that God is offering salvation through Jesus. He wants you to take it, but if you don't you will be seperated from God in Hell. Hell is really just the total absence of God. Hell is no physical place. God does not send people there, only you can set yourself on the path to there.
I seriously doubt that the Jews were the first to come up with the idea of "God", there are lots of Gods, remember? Precisely which one you believe in depends on where you were brought up - fickle, isn't it?
Hell wasn't even mentioned in the old testiment, incidentally.
You have no idea what hell is, i don' blame you, it's like trying to describe an invisible animal.
I simply cannot believe that people still believe in God, heaven and hell.
I know that other people came with ideas of gods. But I refered to God as in worshipped by Christianity. Which IF he was made up would have been "made up" by Jews.
Hell isn't mentioned in the old testament? Really? The Jews have a word for it in Hewbrew. She'owl. Which we would translate as, Grave, Hell or pit. It's mentioned many a time in the old testament. There is a description of Hell in revelations. A "lake of burning sulphur" Where do you think the traditional image comes from?
Before we go any further, I need to know if you take the word of the old testiment seriously? Because I'm not sure that I can continue to take *you* seriously if you do...
Because somebody said that I should check out this 'Christian Rock Band'. That is the interesting answer to your interesting question. So, is it old or new testiment for you..?
Actually the question is why you are debating theological matters on Youtube? Someone told you to check out a rock band so listen to the rock, dammit. No one's life is gonna be changed on Youtube. Shut up and headbang.
Oh dear... You're still stalking the video, looking for a chance to troll.
Once proven wrong on a point, you instead drop to trying a personal attack, undermining any attempts at a reasoned argument you have already built.
Greater thinkers than any present here have toiled for decades over these matters. Perhaps you should let the theologians do the theology, and get on with whatever your speciality is.
Unless this pathetic posting is your speciality, in which case you need a new one.
I'm not stalking this video, as far as I know, a puplic youtube video can't be stalked by definition.
Moving on, I've had a few interesting debates on this particular post board about life, the origin of life an God, so I don't know which one you're refering to, please let me know so that I can respond to your aggresive and sarcastic post properly.
Whilst 'stalking' is most commonly used to mean following someone, it can also be used in the same manner as 'prowl' to refer to moving around a location in a manner that makes you hard to notice. E.g. 'The lion stalked the savannah'
It just seems that upon any of my sporadic visits to this video, the first page is you having an argument. Whilst this might be interesting for you, YouTube is not the correct place for the debates...
I apologise if my (mild) sarcasm seemed overly aggressive
Erm, Evolution and God's existence are not opposite arguments.
That is quite a common misconception amongst those who do not know quite what they are saying. Modern day scientists have used systematic evolution as a method for designing optimal systematic circuits. Just because they evolved does not mean the scientists do not exist, and vice-versa
Furthermore, I have never declared evolution doesn't exist - just mentioned that it is merely theory, and encouraged you to open your mind. Advice you seem to give to people about their beliefs on God, but do not accept on your own beliefs.
There is a difference on HOW something happens, (the method) and WHY it happens. (the reason) As such, science and religion are not against each other, as one regards the method, the other the reason.
Paul who is possibly the greatest example of a christian refered to him
Urgh... Methinks both the "happy, happy, God loves you" and "bible iz leik totly fake man" guys need a reality check.
1) samuelodog, explain gravity. Any decent physicist will tell you it can't be done yet. We can't explain why it's so weak, in comparison to the other fundamental forces.
2) Everyone else, life is not just about being happy and praying. Jesus didn't say "pray and it'll be good", he said, and lived, "It's gonna be hard, but stick with it".
What about the many millions of women and children that have died terrible, painful deaths during the course of the evolution of the human race? Things like disease of the teeth, still borns and cancer? This is a little more than "hard". Even if God did exist, he's a terrible designer, practically evil.
If God gave us free will, and has a master plan, then he has to interact in a way to perpetuate said plan, without impeding free will. As such, disease and natural disaster are the logical choice for aforementioned intervention, as they have both widespread and localised effects, and can completely change a view of life.
Also, gravity? Easy? As an Undergraduate Physics and Mathematics student, I'd like to quote my Mechanics lecturer on the first day: "While we can explain the effects of gravity, no-one can yet explain how it works, or why it is so weak compared to the other forces"
Please check your facts before replying in future. You'll only look like a fool to those who do.
Good, then you should already know that any experiment requires consistent and predictable outcomes before it can be asserted that it is a reliable theory. Gravity is not fully explained, although is well described in the theory of relativity which, while not perfect, is very good at predicting outcomes, such as black holes by Stephen Hawking (before they had even been found by humans), just by using mathematics and the theory itself (cont..)
Arent they working on this with string theory? Because we dont understand something does not make it God - this is basic 'god of the gaps' principle, and a very weak standpoint.
let us unite in prayer for samuelodog that God softens his heart and realises he has fallen on the wrong path, and that God is real and alive in us and has everlasting, unfailing, unconditional love for everyone :)
"FAITH..." IS something u BELIEVE in...u don't have to see it my friend.....GOD plans always lead to his GRACE.Lets be greatfull everyday, life is Beautiful.
I don't think so. For sure you do not know God.I am sure God is pleased by their songs and he wouldnt't "cast them straight to hell for this shameless brown-nosing" caus' God looks at the heart and not at the appearance. And I know that the members of this group (I was at their concert)love God and sing for His glory and not for their own one...
and BTW God really exists even if you do not believe...He is not waiting on you to believe that he exists to really exist...caus he was there before the earth was created (as he has created it...) and...BTW... why woulnd't you change your mind about Him ? what would you lose ? nothing I tell you...cause He loves you even if you don't....and Jesus died for you so that you can know His great love....so...
Yes, but science does provide a more rational alternative. It also debunks alot of Christian nonsense, so although it cannot disprove God - it can disprove religion.
curious.... if you do not believe in God why are you at this video in the first place? it's seems as if you are curious and are looking for some more than what you have or understand now.
wouldn't u rather live life like God does exist and die and find out that he doesn't, instead of living life like He doesn't exist and die and find out he does....
Hamstrahammer - this question you have posted is known as 'Pascal's Wager'. An example of poor reasoning and grotesquely twisted morality. Look up 'Pascals wager criticisms' and this will answer your question.
a more rational alternative? would that be the big bang that your refering to? the odds of the big bang happening are the same odds as a tornado going through a junk yard and leaving behind a brand new 747 jet. theres more holes in that theory than a chunk of swiss cheese. if you study science and biology, its apparent that a higher being created all living beings bc they are far too complex to have arived from nothing. aristotle even admitted this himself
The tornado junkyard allusion is an AWFUL argument. When spacetime curvature is infinite, what exactly are 'ODDS'?! It is actually more likely that something happens than nothing does!
And the tornado does not apply because in nature, complexity is cumulative and gradual.
Idiots like you always refer to the irreducible complexity of the eye. Look at photosensitive cells on slugs, look at all the various stages of eyes we have in the animal kindgom. It is not hard to see that there is a gradual progression. And if your science has not 'evolved' past Aristotle! LOL! We are in trouble. NEXT!
well if we evolved then explain to me where exactly we came from in the begining. the variations of the eye are not from evolution; why would a slug need the same vision as humans? im not attacking you and im being respectful. as opposed to calling you an 'idiot' for your beliefs. your not going to push me off of my beliefs and im not going to be able to push you off yours so theres no point in this
Ok - fair enough, I'll be respectfl - it is just frustrating when christians use a mis-application of science to undermine science. I dont use Jesus to undermine Christianity.
But to answer your point- you have misunderstood. A slug does not need the same vision as humans, this is why it has a very rudimentary eye, photosensitive cells to be precise. The variations of the eye are a good example of how something that appears to be irreducible complex can in fact be broken down into simple stages.
ok...but i just dont see how you can look around and think that it all just accidentally happened. out of curiosity, what is your belief on how everything was created?
I don't think it was an accident at all. The more you learn about physics and biology , the more amazing everything becomes.
I think it does the world an injustice to say that someone up there 'just made it'. It is much more complex and beautiful than that. I believe with infinite possibilities, something happening was inevitable. And from this chaos eventually comes processes of order such as evolution. Look up the anthropic priciple debate.
but as Christians we dont refer to God as a 'person'. that should be apparent through this song. when you say 'something happening' what are you refering to? if we evolved from nothing, can you trace humans back to nothing and tell me where everything started? some things science just cant explain.
Yes, some Christians do, and you attribute to God human characteristics. This is a key sign to atheists that 'he' is a construct. 'something happening' means a change in the frequency of the infintite curvature of space-time. We can trace humans back along the animal family tree, as for the first cell - there are many theories here, science can offer explanations, ones that are always more plausible than superstition and sorcery.
well to me it seems that atheists dont believe in God because there is nothing scientific that can prove that there is a God. however, theres nothing that can disprove it either. its just easier for them to believe in a theory that is at best extremely unlikely and has gaps in it with no answer. and also, how do Christians refer to God with human characteristics? its pretty obvious that humans couldnt create all that our God has
That is not the reason for Atheism. It is one, yes. There is also nothing that can disprove fairies either, but you don't believe in fairies do you? The theory science poses is ALWAYS going to be more plausible because it does not invoke the supernatural, and the supernatural is increasingly being disproved in this day and age. Christians give God human characteristics when they say he 'loves, has a son, thinks and feels etc'. What exactly does your god 'have?'
yes it is always plausible if you can prove that there is no supernatural. how is the supernatural being increasingly disproved? it just comes down to the fact the God cannot physically be seen, felt, or heard. again, thats physically speaking. if you believe in God then there is an emotional feeling that just cant be false. you wouldnt understand that since your not a believer. our God has everything becasue he created everything. i cant prove this to you but at the same time u cant disprove it
I used to be a believer. But deep inside I knew there were other reasons for my 'belief' and these 'feelings and emotions' I had. I knew I wanted to believe, but the more I learned about the world and about Christianity - its history - and the bible - the more holes I found.
The supernatural is being explained for example we no longer think medicine is witchcraft, we know stigmata is psychosomatic, the list goes on and on. There are many lies at the heart of religions. Learn about them.
well im pretty confident that as many times as the bible has been translated and revised that somebody somewhere down the line altered it. but still, even with that being said, it all had to come from something to begin with. the bible has been proven historically acurate. your refering to a different supernatural aspect than i am. i was talking about the supernatural as in un-seen spirits. the only reason i am refering to God as supernatural is bc God cant physically be seen, touched, or heard
There are many flaws to the bible and koran. Muslims can see the flaws in the bible, christians cant, and this works the other way round too! Athiests realise that they are both flawed! 'It all had to come from something' - what do you mean by this? By 'supernatural' I mean above the natural laws of nature. Un-seen spirits? You really believe in these? How about ghosts? Do you believe in ghosts!?
i mean that the entire bible wasnt just made up out of nowhere....there has to be some basis from which it came from. the bible says there are spirits on earth. not necessarily 'ghosts' but spirits. ive never seen a ghost; however there are things that cant be explained
There is nothing that can't be explained, people always say 'this cant be explained' until it is explained! Learn about bible history, you will see that it is a re-hash of old pagan religions and mythology adapted for political purpose. If Rome hadn't adopted christianity (for political reasons) you would be worshipping Mithra right now and saying how special he is. Its not truth - its just the dominant trend - and its all flawed.
well that could just as well be speculation as anything else. and just as everything else, it cant be proved or disproved. even if you dont believe in the bible, it is still full of good teachings that would make this world a better place if everyone followed them. but back to your view on how everything started, how do you believe everything started?
The bible and Koran are both full of good teachings, and some awful parts too that people exploit. This is the danger of religion, a book that people say is the word of god and cant be questioned. I believe it all started with an infinite curvature, read stephen Hawking - he explains it well.
... Jesus said "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father, because the Father is in me and I am in the Father. All must go through me to get to the Father." He also said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." Hallelujah! <3 peace friend.
this song is awesome...my band is covering it at our next show and it is going to be our opening song, and it will definitely be a great way to start the show!
I love the song and all, but the one thing that bothers me is that people think that a huge concert like this, is not where we can see God the most. We have to remember that it's not about us, and how this worship may feel, just because it feels like this is true worship, we must remember there are other ways to glorify God.
S'all good if you're not Christian. Though I'd love it if you were, God gave us free will for a reason, and I shall not deviate from that system set up by the One that I believe in and (try to) abide by.
And for me, it's a tie between Delirious? and Switchfoot.

For those arguing evolution/creation, etc. Look up laminine. It is basicaly the glue that holds every cell together.
Then read Colossians 1:15-17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Crusader4Christo9 2 years ago
I wish people wouldn't say things like this. Do you really know who Jesus is?
"Let those who don't believe perish"? Don't you know that His heart breaks for each who does? Is it too hard to see the lost as someone God loves and therefore you should too? Jesus didn't just die for you so that you could sit in a high and mighty place. He sacrificed Himself so all could be rescued.
Get off your pew and start loving people the way God does.

thesethreekings 2 years ago
Of course there is proof of God. It is everywhere. Ive seen enough to not have any doubt. From my friend suddenly getting his hearing back while we prayed and his jaw being rebuilt to a friend with Breast cancer that disappeared the day before the operation to a man I know who was crippled in a motorcycle accident suddenly not just walking again, but running. And then we have the change that gets made in people. It is amazing to watch.

Genii- I am assuming you are a christian, yes?
Have you read the part of the bible that outlines when employing apologetics of the christian faith you should do so with love and respect?
And i dont think calling someone who is not yet christian a "lesser mortal" is doing so. The reality is infact that christ done for our sins while "we were still sinners" so therefore some one cannot be anyless of a mortal than anyone.

Some universe created for us by the creator.
thesethreekings 3 years ago

BestOfGenii 3 years ago
If you seriously think that black holes do not exist, then I hardly think this conversation is worth continuing.
I will start looking for proof that God doesn't exist as soon as you start searching for evidence that fairies don't exist.
Your question about evolution shows that you have a sever knowledge deficit in the area of evolution and natural selection. I suggest you read up about it, I don't have enough space in this box to explain it all to you.
thesethreekings 3 years ago
It's not up to me to provide proof of God's non-existance; I'm not the one making the claim. I'm also not going to look for evidence for the non-existance of unicorns. The onus is on you - the claimant - not me. By definition you can't see black holes since there's nothing to see, although the heat around them can been seen, since they generate huge amounts of energy. Animals evolve to suit environment. By the way, humans used to be shorter, just 150 years ago women were taller than men.
thesethreekings 3 years ago
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
Wait - do you think that people were always as tall as we are?
Do you believe that they were ever shorter?
Simple question, yes or no.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
"As tall as we are now"...?
I'm 6'3", my best friend is 4'11"... I believe that in "the old days" there were people of heights ranging between both our heights, and outwards in both direction. There are archaeological records of people from thousands of years ago who were easily 6 foot.
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
You know very well that I'm talking about average height.
This is a perfect example of religion encouraging junk science and ignorance.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Actually, it's a perfect example of a sarcastic pedant (like me) deciding to annoy a lesser mortal (e.g. you)
The average height in in a continual state of flux. It is currently slightly higher than it used to be, but not my a significant amount, and largely due to improved diets.
Here you have sought to credit evolution for something it had no effect on, and put down religion using similar reasoning.
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
You failed at both executing sarasm correctly and identifying an annoyed person.
50,000 years ago, we were all alot shorter and not quite as upright as we are today. New evidence suggests that we have actually only increased by approximately 2.5 inches over the past 1,000, but we're increased nontheless.
The point is, my simple and easily influenced friend, that evolution is a reality. Simple people are easily lead, ergo - you believe the Bible.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
(it's "a lot", not "alot". Surely someone as intelligent as you should have known that. Plus, I don't know about you, but I wasn't around 50,000 years ago.)
I said I was a sarcastic pedant. At that point, I was being pedantic, not sarcastic. I can, however, do both simultaneously if I so wish.
If you think I am simple and easily lead, then your personal feelings are obviously clouding your judgement. Declaring evolution a reality is a bold statement. Publish your proof, and you'll be rich.
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
It's more likely that evolution is a reality than otherwise. Read about radiocarbon dating. Read about archaeology. Heck, read about science.
Just because something hasn't been proved, does not mean that the opposite argument is as likely. You know that to be true but you stop yourself, in the case, believing it because you are an easily lead religious person.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
I know about Radiocarbon dating, and how easily it can be fooled. I know about Archaeology, and know several archaeologists. I am reading Mathematics and Physics at University, which are the "purest" of the sciences, in that all other sciences may be explained as sub-subjects of them.
It was thought more likely the atom couldn't be split than that it could, but hey, it was.
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
So you don't believe that those "fooled" evolutionary biologists and their silly consistent double-blind radiocarbon dating and multiple condition experiments that yeild similar data are correct. Wow, you really have something there.
Wait a minute - I'm getting the feeling you're a young Earth believer? Please tell me you are, then I'll know it's not even worth talking to you.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Oh, good, you believe in evolution, then you're not entirely fooled.
Just as all the others, you either want or need to believe in God, possibly both. More than likely due to your parents. Well have fun with that, but why not just believe in Zues or somethin? Because you were accidentally brought up in a Christian culture, that's why.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
I'm not a "young Earth" believer. In case your bias against religion has hid the fact, I'm more intelligent than you seem to think. And you using my logical, scientifically supported (where I can recall evidence from my memory) arguments to get the feeling that I believe something proved incorrect means you must be less intelligent than I thought.
It may not even be worth my continuing if you're not going to be able to comprehend the information I give...
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
"Just because something hasn't been proved(God's existence), does not mean that the opposite argument (evolution) is as likely." Exactly!!
GuerreroGuitar 2 years ago
Don't be silly. There is lots of evidence for evolution and no evidence for God. Neither have been proved completely (clearly in the case of God), but since there is more (much, much more) evidence for evolution, that means that evolution is more likely.
I cannot believe that people reject evolution *because* of what is said in the Bible.
It is begger's belief.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
When you say evolution do you mean macro or micro? They are two very different things. To have the faith that all this could have started with a single celled organism is amazing. But where did that life form come from? Those theories are interesting. Do you not see the design that went into a cell? Perhaps the complex machines inside the cell with irreducible complexity? Or maybe you wonder how many generations died perfecting blood clotting? That is just the beginning.
It is plain to me.
blindreal 2 years ago
I mean micro evolution, macro has never been seen to occur in science at this point.
Where did life come from... by far the most likely theory currenly is abiogenisis, a formation of amino acids (naturally occuring) put together by nucleic acids. The only remaining question is where the nucleic acids came from, it's exciting finding out though, and we will find out.
The irreduducible complexity theory is flawed, since things can build up and increase i complexity, therefore would not ..
thesethreekings 2 years ago
And I know Ill not convince you, but there really is a God who loves you. I look at the world and see His magnificent creation. Youll see the processes of the works of His hands, but that is what they are. Ive always chuckled that I believe in the Bing Bang, God said and there was. My favorite evidence is a man Ill call Tom. There isnt room to detail it, but Tom was healed one morning. Hed been deaf for 20 years out of one ear. His jaw that was destroyed by the bullet rebuilt itself.
blindreal 2 years ago
you mean life from non-life....nope im pretty sure that was shot down 200 hundred years ago....in one of Louis Pasteur's experiments he was able to make a couple amino acids...however these amino acids were actually hazardous to life....and could not have formed DNA or any protein which is absolutely necessary for life of the simplest kind, its simply impossible to form a living cell from non-life
Nitromicrobe 2 years ago
Life is everywhere, it's common knowledge that life can be anywhere where there is water, including Mars (underground) and probably billions of other planets. It's a shame that you shoot down the scientific method so willingly in favour of ancient books.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
If you are basing this common knowledge off evolution processes then wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that water would not have to be the foundation for life. But when it comes to the scientific method, arent all conclusions left on the table until disproven in the absence of bias? Im biased and say that God exists while you are just as biased saying He doesnt.
blindreal 2 years ago
I don't know what you mean by "If you are basing this common knowledge off evolution processes then wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that water would not have to be the foundation for life."
I am not biased in thinking that God doesn't exist, I am being completely objective, if it turns out that there is a single piece of evidence for him, then I'll look into it more than willingly, but there is none. We do not even know for sure who wrote documents making up the bible.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
I mean, that if evolutionary processes are the basis of life, then life should be everywhere. It is not inconceivable that life could exist without the need for water.
But you are biased, if not it wouldnt matter to you if there was or was not a God and clearly it matters to you.
blindreal 2 years ago
(cont..)
work if you took a part away once complete, however in its earlier stages of development, it would have been less complex.
I'm not sure what you mean with the blood clotting question.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
I dont think you can rule out irreducible complexity simply because things are built upon one another especially if you cant document how that process could have happened. Blood clotting is one such example. There are about 200 triggers that have to happen for blood to clot properly. I dont deny changes occur within species, but I believe those are processes that are designed and not some chaotic happenstance based on need and the right amount of luck. All of creation is too ordered for that.
blindreal 2 years ago
you can rule out the irreducible complexity theory extremely easily, take scaffolding for example - there, it's ruled out with just one example
Why is it that, because we haven't (YET) completed the puzzle of how life began, do you immediately jump to the conclusion that God did it.... you do realise that you have created a far greater issue - i.e., how did God get there? You are far more clueless about that than the origins of life issue, yet are more comfortable with it.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
You can also show how to deconstruct scaffolding without destroying the system. So, no that doesn't rule it out.
Of course I am comfortable with it. I've seen enough to not have any doubts.
blindreal 2 years ago
Obviously, the scaffolding example was a metaphor. Evolution is the process of making simple things (in the beggining), into more complex beings. Once it has reached an advanced stage (like us now), you cannot then take away anything that won't produce a serious danger, as we now rely on everything we have (eg, if we lost our eyes, we don't have a strong enough sense of smell to rely on that. It's an extremely fickle argument.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
The human system is not irreducibly complex, you can live without your arms, but systems within the human and animal kingdom are. The cell is one such system consisting of machines that build other machines and they use information to build those machines. Remove any part of any of the machine and it breaks down, but where did the information come from? Even the smallest known single cell organism would take reams of paper to encode.
blindreal 2 years ago
Here is the crux of all this - neither you nor I know all the answers regarding DNA and similar information. However, you have decided to postulate a God as the answer. The reason that you have done this is that you want to believe in this, or that your parents indoctronated you as a child. There is no other reason for jumping to that answer (and dedicating your life to it), rather than waiting for a reasonable answer - which we'll almost certanly have in the next 100 years.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Actually, I believe it because I choose to believe it. I witnessed the things God was doing in the lives of people and made my decision. If youll look down youll see a few posts of the things Ive witnessed with my own eyes. I believe it because it is real, because of what God has done in my life and in the lives of the people around me. I couldnt deny the existence of God if my life depended on it any more than I could deny this keyboard I am touching is real.
blindreal 2 years ago
You confirmed what i said in your first sentance, "I believe it because I choose to believe it", that's exactly why anybody believes in God. You cannot possibly believe in God due to it being anything close to likely, since God is exceptionally unlikey, of that there is no arguing. Just as there is little/no chance of Thor or Zeus, you find it rmarkably easy to be an atheist as far as they're concerned, so you know what it's like to be me, the naturalist/atheist, after all.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
What I confirmed was that I made the decision for myself and that decision is based in part on evidence. I've seen people healed before my eyes. Oh, I wish you could meet my friend. Miracles large and small still happen today. And, I simply know this living God in a real way.
I really do hope you get the opportunity to see God for who He is. He loves you and wants to be a part of your life. Jesus died for you so that you would have the opportunity to know Him. Feel free to email me.
blindreal 2 years ago
I'm sorry, but you have no evidence.
This is all so rediculous, and you can't even see it.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Why would God kill thousands of babies? That sounds like choices we've made not God. Consequences of a fallen world sadly and something I am opposed to. I'm talking about someone who couldn't hear out of an ear and suddenly could, not a choice someone made.
He would be the best term that we have for His essence as a father figure, but Genesis clearly describes that God made both male and female with characteristics of His nature.
blindreal 2 years ago
Cot death? Any generally unexpected failure of the body which isn't explained, since you attribute sudden healing to him, why not the sudden deaths of failures?
Please don't talk about the old testiment, the most evil book ever written. Unless you agree with all those innocent people that God slaughtered for NO REASON.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
First, no one is innocent in the eyes of God. We've all sinned. You, me, the preacher down the street are all guilty. That is why Jesus died, to complete the law and offer pardon. The Bible makes it clear that God does on occassion demand someone's life of them, but you cannot attribute every good or bad thing solely to God. But why not suddent healings? What is it about them that offends you so?
Since you bring it up, what is evil? Where does it come from?
blindreal 2 years ago
I don't really care if nobody is innocent in the eyes of God, I am more moral than your God. I do not reqire the arbitrary death of innocent virgins, I do not murder, I do not cause mass genocide, thus I am more moral than your God, I don't see him asking for my forgiveness for murdering a distant relative of mine.
So, any 'sin' I have commited doesn't compare to his, and I do not require his forgiveness. You are the slave of a muderer and you actually enjoy it, it makes me feel nauseous.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
So much for polite conversation. God is no murderer, but He is righteous, just, and thankfully merciful. If youll recall He is the one who said murder is not good and that even the blood of Able cried out to Him.
If you wish to continue this conversation, send me an email. Your questions deserve more of a response than the comment limit.
blindreal 2 years ago
The supposed vicarious redemption of my 'sins' are not, in fact, redeemed at all just because a man died on a cross. If I've done wrong in my life, I actively put that right personally, I do not want somebody else to shoulder the punishment, that is a disgusting idea thought up by men thousands of years ago. And can't even prove that that happened.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Okay, there is a way to shoulder the burden of your own sins. It's called Hell. I'd rather no one put themselves on the path to there. There is plenty of historical proof that a man called Jesus existed and died on a cross. The sticking point is if he rose. And who said we don't try to make our right with people. We do, with PEOPLE. But Jesus' death was about putting us right with GOD. Not people. You can't put yourself right with God. It's only be God's grace that we can be saved
ettuTkciN 2 years ago
You insane, archaic animal.
Where is Hell? I can't see it. The Hubble telescope certainly hasn't picked that up.
You are so lacking in humilty think you think that a being possessing such power that YOU could never concieve would be so petty as to send a human to Hell.
If there was a creator, IT would be so much more infinate, wise and pure than the absurd charactor that moronic men came up with 2,000 years ago.
thesethreekings 2 years ago

I simply cannot believe that people still believe in God, heaven and hell.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
I know that other people came with ideas of gods. But I refered to God as in worshipped by Christianity. Which IF he was made up would have been "made up" by Jews.
Hell isn't mentioned in the old testament? Really? The Jews have a word for it in Hewbrew. She'owl. Which we would translate as, Grave, Hell or pit. It's mentioned many a time in the old testament. There is a description of Hell in revelations. A "lake of burning sulphur" Where do you think the traditional image comes from?
ettuTkciN 2 years ago
And if you want a particular quote from the Old testament. It doesn't use the word hell. But it's meaning is clear enough.
Daniel 12:2 "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt."
ettuTkciN 2 years ago
Before we go any further, I need to know if you take the word of the old testiment seriously? Because I'm not sure that I can continue to take *you* seriously if you do...
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Yes, but if you take none of us seriously, why are you here? =)
Interesting question isn't it?
God Bless you
ettuTkciN 2 years ago
Because somebody said that I should check out this 'Christian Rock Band'. That is the interesting answer to your interesting question. So, is it old or new testiment for you..?
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Actually the question is why you are debating theological matters on Youtube? Someone told you to check out a rock band so listen to the rock, dammit. No one's life is gonna be changed on Youtube. Shut up and headbang.
HacjienceYukona 2 years ago
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
I'm not stalking this video, as far as I know, a puplic youtube video can't be stalked by definition.
Moving on, I've had a few interesting debates on this particular post board about life, the origin of life an God, so I don't know which one you're refering to, please let me know so that I can respond to your aggresive and sarcastic post properly.
thesethreekings 2 years ago
Whilst 'stalking' is most commonly used to mean following someone, it can also be used in the same manner as 'prowl' to refer to moving around a location in a manner that makes you hard to notice. E.g. 'The lion stalked the savannah'
It just seems that upon any of my sporadic visits to this video, the first page is you having an argument. Whilst this might be interesting for you, YouTube is not the correct place for the debates...
I apologise if my (mild) sarcasm seemed overly aggressive
BestOfGenii 2 years ago
Well, either way, tell me what you were offended by an we can have a discussion about it.
thesethreekings 2 years ago

My mistake, "led". Don't let being a stickler for spelling divert your attention away from the realitiy of science.

BestOfGenii 3 years ago
"Everyone else, life is not just about being happy and praying" "Jesus didn't say "pray and it'll be good" : who said that ? me not...
but that faith in God cannot be explained with hundred of theories (as Samuelodog does) and what the eyes can see...
Jefaisduvelo 3 years ago
Gravity is easy to explain. I think you need to throw away your bible and read a physics book.
thesethreekings 3 years ago
"It's gonna be hard, but stick with it"
What about the many millions of women and children that have died terrible, painful deaths during the course of the evolution of the human race? Things like disease of the teeth, still borns and cancer? This is a little more than "hard". Even if God did exist, he's a terrible designer, practically evil.
thesethreekings 3 years ago
I'd like to see you design a better universe...
If God gave us free will, and has a master plan, then he has to interact in a way to perpetuate said plan, without impeding free will. As such, disease and natural disaster are the logical choice for aforementioned intervention, as they have both widespread and localised effects, and can completely change a view of life.
BestOfGenii 3 years ago
I agree with you
nucandrei 3 years ago
Also, gravity? Easy? As an Undergraduate Physics and Mathematics student, I'd like to quote my Mechanics lecturer on the first day: "While we can explain the effects of gravity, no-one can yet explain how it works, or why it is so weak compared to the other forces"
Please check your facts before replying in future. You'll only look like a fool to those who do.
(YouTube isn't allowing me indented replies...)
BestOfGenii 3 years ago
Good, then you should already know that any experiment requires consistent and predictable outcomes before it can be asserted that it is a reliable theory. Gravity is not fully explained, although is well described in the theory of relativity which, while not perfect, is very good at predicting outcomes, such as black holes by Stephen Hawking (before they had even been found by humans), just by using mathematics and the theory itself (cont..)

Arent they working on this with string theory? Because we dont understand something does not make it God - this is basic 'god of the gaps' principle, and a very weak standpoint.

Disgusting.
If God did exist he would cast them straight to hell for this shameless brown-nosing. (he doesn't exist btw - read some science)
samuelodog 3 years ago
I don't think so. For sure you do not know God.I am sure God is pleased by their songs and he wouldnt't "cast them straight to hell for this shameless brown-nosing" caus' God looks at the heart and not at the appearance. And I know that the members of this group (I was at their concert)love God and sing for His glory and not for their own one...
Jefaisduvelo 3 years ago
and BTW God really exists even if you do not believe...He is not waiting on you to believe that he exists to really exist...caus he was there before the earth was created (as he has created it...) and...BTW... why woulnd't you change your mind about Him ? what would you lose ? nothing I tell you...cause He loves you even if you don't....and Jesus died for you so that you can know His great love....so...

Science does not prove or disprove God. If you have a science experiment that proves or disproves God, then please post it. I'd love ot see it.
joseph47parker 3 years ago
Yes, but science does provide a more rational alternative. It also debunks alot of Christian nonsense, so although it cannot disprove God - it can disprove religion.
samuelodog 3 years ago
curious.... if you do not believe in God why are you at this video in the first place? it's seems as if you are curious and are looking for some more than what you have or understand now.

Hamstrahammer 3 years ago
Hamstrahammer - this question you have posted is known as 'Pascal's Wager'. An example of poor reasoning and grotesquely twisted morality. Look up 'Pascals wager criticisms' and this will answer your question.
samuelodog 3 years ago
a more rational alternative? would that be the big bang that your refering to? the odds of the big bang happening are the same odds as a tornado going through a junk yard and leaving behind a brand new 747 jet. theres more holes in that theory than a chunk of swiss cheese. if you study science and biology, its apparent that a higher being created all living beings bc they are far too complex to have arived from nothing. aristotle even admitted this himself
blinky855 3 years ago
The tornado junkyard allusion is an AWFUL argument. When spacetime curvature is infinite, what exactly are 'ODDS'?! It is actually more likely that something happens than nothing does!
And the tornado does not apply because in nature, complexity is cumulative and gradual.
samuelodog 3 years ago
Idiots like you always refer to the irreducible complexity of the eye. Look at photosensitive cells on slugs, look at all the various stages of eyes we have in the animal kindgom. It is not hard to see that there is a gradual progression. And if your science has not 'evolved' past Aristotle! LOL! We are in trouble. NEXT!
samuelodog 3 years ago
well if we evolved then explain to me where exactly we came from in the begining. the variations of the eye are not from evolution; why would a slug need the same vision as humans? im not attacking you and im being respectful. as opposed to calling you an 'idiot' for your beliefs. your not going to push me off of my beliefs and im not going to be able to push you off yours so theres no point in this
blinky855 3 years ago
Ok - fair enough, I'll be respectfl - it is just frustrating when christians use a mis-application of science to undermine science. I dont use Jesus to undermine Christianity.
samuelodog 3 years ago
But to answer your point- you have misunderstood. A slug does not need the same vision as humans, this is why it has a very rudimentary eye, photosensitive cells to be precise. The variations of the eye are a good example of how something that appears to be irreducible complex can in fact be broken down into simple stages.
samuelodog 3 years ago
ok...but i just dont see how you can look around and think that it all just accidentally happened. out of curiosity, what is your belief on how everything was created?
blinky855 3 years ago
I don't think it was an accident at all. The more you learn about physics and biology , the more amazing everything becomes.
I think it does the world an injustice to say that someone up there 'just made it'. It is much more complex and beautiful than that. I believe with infinite possibilities, something happening was inevitable. And from this chaos eventually comes processes of order such as evolution. Look up the anthropic priciple debate.
samuelodog 3 years ago
but as Christians we dont refer to God as a 'person'. that should be apparent through this song. when you say 'something happening' what are you refering to? if we evolved from nothing, can you trace humans back to nothing and tell me where everything started? some things science just cant explain.
blinky855 3 years ago
Yes, some Christians do, and you attribute to God human characteristics. This is a key sign to atheists that 'he' is a construct. 'something happening' means a change in the frequency of the infintite curvature of space-time. We can trace humans back along the animal family tree, as for the first cell - there are many theories here, science can offer explanations, ones that are always more plausible than superstition and sorcery.
samuelodog 3 years ago
well to me it seems that atheists dont believe in God because there is nothing scientific that can prove that there is a God. however, theres nothing that can disprove it either. its just easier for them to believe in a theory that is at best extremely unlikely and has gaps in it with no answer. and also, how do Christians refer to God with human characteristics? its pretty obvious that humans couldnt create all that our God has
blinky855 3 years ago
That is not the reason for Atheism. It is one, yes. There is also nothing that can disprove fairies either, but you don't believe in fairies do you? The theory science poses is ALWAYS going to be more plausible because it does not invoke the supernatural, and the supernatural is increasingly being disproved in this day and age. Christians give God human characteristics when they say he 'loves, has a son, thinks and feels etc'. What exactly does your god 'have?'
samuelodog 3 years ago
yes it is always plausible if you can prove that there is no supernatural. how is the supernatural being increasingly disproved? it just comes down to the fact the God cannot physically be seen, felt, or heard. again, thats physically speaking. if you believe in God then there is an emotional feeling that just cant be false. you wouldnt understand that since your not a believer. our God has everything becasue he created everything. i cant prove this to you but at the same time u cant disprove it
blinky855 3 years ago
I used to be a believer. But deep inside I knew there were other reasons for my 'belief' and these 'feelings and emotions' I had. I knew I wanted to believe, but the more I learned about the world and about Christianity - its history - and the bible - the more holes I found.
The supernatural is being explained for example we no longer think medicine is witchcraft, we know stigmata is psychosomatic, the list goes on and on. There are many lies at the heart of religions. Learn about them.
samuelodog 3 years ago
well im pretty confident that as many times as the bible has been translated and revised that somebody somewhere down the line altered it. but still, even with that being said, it all had to come from something to begin with. the bible has been proven historically acurate. your refering to a different supernatural aspect than i am. i was talking about the supernatural as in un-seen spirits. the only reason i am refering to God as supernatural is bc God cant physically be seen, touched, or heard
blinky855 3 years ago
There are many flaws to the bible and koran. Muslims can see the flaws in the bible, christians cant, and this works the other way round too! Athiests realise that they are both flawed! 'It all had to come from something' - what do you mean by this? By 'supernatural' I mean above the natural laws of nature. Un-seen spirits? You really believe in these? How about ghosts? Do you believe in ghosts!?
samuelodog 3 years ago
i mean that the entire bible wasnt just made up out of nowhere....there has to be some basis from which it came from. the bible says there are spirits on earth. not necessarily 'ghosts' but spirits. ive never seen a ghost; however there are things that cant be explained
blinky855 3 years ago
There is nothing that can't be explained, people always say 'this cant be explained' until it is explained! Learn about bible history, you will see that it is a re-hash of old pagan religions and mythology adapted for political purpose. If Rome hadn't adopted christianity (for political reasons) you would be worshipping Mithra right now and saying how special he is. Its not truth - its just the dominant trend - and its all flawed.
samuelodog 3 years ago
well that could just as well be speculation as anything else. and just as everything else, it cant be proved or disproved. even if you dont believe in the bible, it is still full of good teachings that would make this world a better place if everyone followed them. but back to your view on how everything started, how do you believe everything started?
blinky855 3 years ago
Its not really speculation, its history.
The bible and Koran are both full of good teachings, and some awful parts too that people exploit. This is the danger of religion, a book that people say is the word of god and cant be questioned. I believe it all started with an infinite curvature, read stephen Hawking - he explains it well.

I love the song and all, but the one thing that bothers me is that people think that a huge concert like this, is not where we can see God the most. We have to remember that it's not about us, and how this worship may feel, just because it feels like this is true worship, we must remember there are other ways to glorify God.

true, that is why at times CCM (contemporary Christian music) is not the best form of praise, unless you understand that it is for God.

S'all good if you're not Christian. Though I'd love it if you were, God gave us free will for a reason, and I shall not deviate from that system set up by the One that I believe in and (try to) abide by.
And for me, it's a tie between Delirious? and Switchfoot.
