Fine choice, it's also good to know the differences between AMD and Nvidia cards and their technology though before you buy a card.
Some people might say the 6870 1GB might be well worth the extra $30 or so, but the 6850 is certainly great, it's more powerful than the 4890 in every way.
It'll smoke a surprising amount of games at 2560x1600.
if you have 17 - 20" monitor and use 1280x1024 resolution, 8800 GT, 9800 GT or Radeon HD 4770 is the best for you, you don't need to waste your money just for buy GTX 295 card when you playing game at 19" monitor

i'm thinking about upgrading my emachine to run mmorpgs better. i was thinking about getting the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT. would there be anything else i would need to upgrade? thanks i'm kinda new to computers.
what about Your mom's bleeding vagina!? will that run crysis good too? It runs my dick pretty good thats for sure! Her asshole has about a 750 watt supply and I can fit both my 8800s in there with ease
are you kidding me? first off 4gb of ram is the most youll need for gaming for a good few years, unless you wanna be a hardass and have a rediculous amount of 8, or 132 on a server. and quad core at 2.6ghz? come on kid if you dont realize that your rig is pretty good for about 3 years with the exception of a graphic card upgrade, then you obviously dont know computers
"come on kid if you dont realize that your rig is pretty good for about 3 years with the exception of a graphic card upgrade, then you obviously dont know computers"
which is probably why he is asking a question dumbass
How? Easily. I'm getting a lower spec pc than that and the only thing I'm being told I need more of is RAM, and maybe an AMD 4850 instead of intel. That's because I'm getting duo not quad, and only 2 gigs of RAM instead of 4. I think you'll manage. Now piss off and stop showing off! :p
Crysis supports quad cores, then you should buy Intel quad core 6600 (cheapest quad) and you can overclock it from 2.4 ghz over 3ghz with the original fan that comes along with it. xfx geforce 9800 gtx black edition runs at 760 mhz and that one is faster than the new ones (geforce 280 series) Buy intel and be happy, or buy Amd and you will have a expencive and low end system with slow frames per second.
I got Amd 6400 and an Intel quad core computer, same graphic cards(xfx geforce 9800 gtx black edition) and everything is the same exept the cpu on both of them. Amd = crysis high 34 frames and my Overclocked Intel quad 3.3 ghz= crysis 51 frames average :)
don't buy AMD !!! They suck beleave me i know... Intel core 2 duo extreme is 10% = 2 cores, faster than Amd phenom= 4 cores xD Intel core 2 quad is cheaper and more than twice the speed than the Amd Phenom.
lol, i'm going to get X2 6000 (or maybe even 6400) OR core 2 duo E8200 + club 3D 8800 GT + 2 gigs of RAM. so after reading the discription: will i be able to play crysis on very high settings? i know the XP/Vista thing ...
Yes, but on lower resolutions, like 1280x1024 or 1440x900. Even then, you may get some stuttering. If you want to use 1680x1050 or higher res, you'll have to stick with High settings to maintain 30+ FPS.
Hey I have an XFX 8800 GT Extreme edition and there's no way I could play on very high @ 1440x900 (My monitor's max res). I think not even on high! I use Vista though. If Vista is the reason then I'll change to XP first hour tomorrow morning. Damn this Vista... Plz reply
sounds all good but tell us your processor, if it is like 1 ghz U can't run it ^^ I got the 8800 GT 1GB version ( overclocked ) 4GB RAMM and core2 duo 3ghz and I OWNNN!!! crysis :D :P
No need to worry about the life time because most companies offer a life-time warranty, so if it becomes defective or anything, you'll be able to get a replacement.
Actually PC Gamer ran tests and figured out thst the GTS is slower......costs more to i have GT 512 MB, i can run Company of Heroes on ultra high at 104 fps:P
I think they did the tests with the GTS's with 640mb or 320mb of VRAM. The GTS with 512 of VRAM is actually FASTER than the GT and other GTS variations. That's because it uses the G92 core.
Well, since you have an AM2 slot, i'd recommend an AMD Athlon x2 6000+. It's a much better CPU than your old 4400+, but your current CPU is already pretty decent. I would only upgrade that if i had some extra money to spend.
cool, it runs almost the same on my xfx GT, but i am having a textureproblem that started about 3 months after owning the card, but before that, i wuz fine, still onto solving it... but this card is awsome, xfx 8800 GT ftw
so what exactly was your frame rate without fraps. the video looked smooth enough to play, but if it was cut in half, then without fraps it must run pretty good.
Keep in mind that there are three GTS variants. The GT beats the 640mb and 320mb version by a lot, and the 512mb version of the GTS is only slightly better than the GT.
If you already have a GT, I don't suggest buying a 512mb 8800 GTS; the performance jump isn't that great.
I have a question. I have a 4000+ AMD Athlon 64 processor (with 2.6GHz), with 768mb RAM, 160GB Harddrive, and I believe my graphics card is a Ati Radeon x1250. I was wondering if a Geforce 8800 could fit in my pc if I took out my old graphics card? Or if I got like 1 or 2 more GB ram could I run crysis like lowest settings now lag? Sorry I just need to kno thanks
dude, u have a high end pc and u don't know what fraps is? that's pretty surprising. FRAPS a tiny, free program that you can download to measure how many frames per secound ur getting in a game. its a nice utility program to have.
Where can i buy this video card i cant find it anywhere. Plus how much is it?
TheCooko0 10 months ago
@TheCooko0
8800GT is extinct essentially, the 9800GT is the same card except slightly more energy efficient and cooler.
It goes for around $70-$110, but now, for the latest technology and better performance, you'd want a GTX 550 1GB.
Usul573 10 months ago
@Usul573
And how much would one of these be?
TheCooko0 10 months ago
@TheCooko0
GTX 550 1GB is about $150.
The 5770 1GB can go for $115 and is only a little slower overall and still a very serious gaming card.
The 6790 1GB is around $150 and mostly faster than the GTX 550 1GB.
Then there's the GTX 460 768MB which can be as cheap as $155 and can beat all of them mostly.
Then the 6850 1GB is $170 and can probably beat all of them.
It's a little crazy, but any of those will make you happy and I recommend them.
Avoid GTS 450 1GB and 5750 1GB and outdated cards.
Usul573 10 months ago
@Usul573 ok thnx man i think i'll go for the 6850 1GB :)

one single 8800 GT wonte make it att all very high, especially not at that large resolution.
Get 2 of them. Also your cpu seems kinda old (not an AMD fan but i recog that 4200)
Crysis is pretty cpu dependent in AI rich areas, so get a better cpu if the one you have is crappy.
IF you try running it though with those specs you say, at 1600x1080, i'd say you'd get around 14-15 fps.

twogud 3 years ago
It'll be better... but you should still upgrade your video card.

What is the lifetime of the 8800 GT? Is it high end?
Skyrodude 3 years ago
No need to worry about the life time because most companies offer a life-time warranty, so if it becomes defective or anything, you'll be able to get a replacement.
It's a mid-high end card.
Denexx 3 years ago
im going to buy this video, i was wondering if there is alot of deference between 7600 gt n this video card ??
cezaxgame 3 years ago
Yes. There is a humongous difference.
Denexx 3 years ago

Awesome video mate i have bfg 8800 gt oc2.I use the very high fix too.BTW Windows XP rules.Vista sucks.5/5 stars.
GtaPlayer132 3 years ago
Actually PC Gamer ran tests and figured out thst the GTS is slower......costs more to i have GT 512 MB, i can run Company of Heroes on ultra high at 104 fps:P
Irmb5me5 3 years ago
I think they did the tests with the GTS's with 640mb or 320mb of VRAM. The GTS with 512 of VRAM is actually FASTER than the GT and other GTS variations. That's because it uses the G92 core.
Denexx 3 years ago
witch one is better the 8800gt 512mb or the 8800gts 512mb (G92)?
Prototypemachine 3 years ago
GTS.
Denexx 3 years ago
Yeah thanks. Im gona update the RAM with one GB and see how it runs. What CPU do you reccomend, i have a kinda small budjet. Cant go over 100 euros.
Prototypemachine 3 years ago
Well, since you have an AM2 slot, i'd recommend an AMD Athlon x2 6000+. It's a much better CPU than your old 4400+, but your current CPU is already pretty decent. I would only upgrade that if i had some extra money to spend.
Denexx 3 years ago
Can i play Crysis on these specs:
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.30ghz
-1.75 GB of ram
-Club3D 8800gt 512mb
and on what settings?
Prototypemachine 3 years ago
It should run close to my settings. But I'd upgrade the RAM to at least 2 gigs, and possibly to a better CPU.
Denexx 3 years ago
type
r_motionblur=4 in the console so you
can get that cool hand motion blur thing..
lol.
rminb010204 3 years ago
how many FPS?
pascual92 3 years ago
cool, it runs almost the same on my xfx GT, but i am having a textureproblem that started about 3 months after owning the card, but before that, i wuz fine, still onto solving it... but this card is awsome, xfx 8800 GT ftw

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I found this game called "REAL LIFE", and it has much BETTER GRAPHICS then CRYSIS.

thamas99 4 years ago
YEY COOL MAN! im getting this card today!
thanks for the vid!
TRASE777 4 years ago 2
I don't wanna sound like a noob but how did you get the girl voice?
Dyno247365 4 years ago
Go to Options- System Settings- Sound.
Denexx 4 years ago
Never noticed before, happy hunting!!
Dyno247365 4 years ago
so what exactly was your frame rate without fraps. the video looked smooth enough to play, but if it was cut in half, then without fraps it must run pretty good.
jwredhair 4 years ago
20-40 frames per sec.
Denexx 4 years ago
What resolution. Planing to go to a Q6600 with 2 gbs of ram also a 22in wide screen.
SA8TER21 3 years ago
I usually use 1680x1050 (which will work on your 22in screen) but I was using a lower one (10x7) for the sake of recording footage.
Denexx 3 years ago
oh ok....Sweet as hell then thanks for the info.
SA8TER21 3 years ago
is the performance jump from 8800GT to GTS big?
MPT77 4 years ago
Keep in mind that there are three GTS variants. The GT beats the 640mb and 320mb version by a lot, and the 512mb version of the GTS is only slightly better than the GT.
If you already have a GT, I don't suggest buying a 512mb 8800 GTS; the performance jump isn't that great.
Denexx 4 years ago
Oh ok THanks! Because I just got a new computer with overclocked 512 MGB 8800GT ;]
MPT77 4 years ago
I have a question. I have a 4000+ AMD Athlon 64 processor (with 2.6GHz), with 768mb RAM, 160GB Harddrive, and I believe my graphics card is a Ati Radeon x1250. I was wondering if a Geforce 8800 could fit in my pc if I took out my old graphics card? Or if I got like 1 or 2 more GB ram could I run crysis like lowest settings now lag? Sorry I just need to kno thanks
stickgore 4 years ago
RAM is relatively cheap, maybe 50 dollars for 2 gigabytes nowadays. I'd recommend you to upgrade your RAM.
If your current graphics card uses a PCI express x16 slot, you should be able to use an 8800 card as long as your power supply can handle it.
Denexx 4 years ago
how to check?
stickgore 4 years ago
Really right now i'm on 1024xxx, all on medium and getting about 15-25 fps.
TEWolfFang 4 years ago
You'd get that on your current 8600 card, that's not unexpected.
An 8800GT will give you a very significant performance boost.
Denexx 4 years ago
Ok thanks i'm going to get one :)
TEWolfFang 4 years ago
hey, atm i have
windows vista
intel core 2 duo 2.33ghz
3gb ddr2
8600gt 512mb
250gb hd
if i upgrade the graphics card to a
Evga 8800gt 512mb, what kind of res, settings and fps could i have??
thanks
TEWolfFang 4 years ago
I'd recommend a res of 1280x1024. A mixture of high and very high settings would give you a framerate of between 20 and 30.
Denexx 4 years ago
when i watched this i wondered... why buy a 8800 GTX when you could get this for much cheaper???
craftman32 4 years ago
Yeah. The 8800GT is definitely a much better for the price/performance ratio.
Denexx 4 years ago
Hey dude, i have these Specifications on my computer, what would i be able to run crysis on
AMD 5600+ X2(dual core)
8800GT Superclocked Edition
3GB DDR2
Windows Vista Home Premium
not sure which kind of hardrive, its 500GB though.
Thanks, by the way, what does FRAPS Mean?
trooper1857 4 years ago
dude, u have a high end pc and u don't know what fraps is? that's pretty surprising. FRAPS a tiny, free program that you can download to measure how many frames per secound ur getting in a game. its a nice utility program to have.
xuimod 4 years ago
Fraps is the program to record videos.
tombayly13 4 years ago
It should run about as good as my system. Although I recommend you use XP instead of Vista.
Denexx 4 years ago
how much fps you get?
weemannetje 4 years ago
20-40 ish without FRAPS.
