My husband is on day 2 post skin graft in almost the same spot. He is a police officer and he was shot while on duty and the bullet went in above his knee, exited behind it, then re-entered his calf and traveled all the way down the calf muscle and exited above the ankle. He was fortunate that no bone or tendons were hit. They took his graft from his hip and the poor guy can't even get out of bed. I can't believe they sent him home the day of his graft.

@TheBelisamasana Hey I hope your husband is feeling better, he sounds like a brave man. Also surprised they let him go so early. You definitely have to do your time layed up in bed while this heals, but I hope the guy who shot him is layed up for MUCH longer in prsion! The healing process is a bit scary since it seems like it will never heal but then one day, poof, it heals and you have a good story to tell!

Went thru exact same thing. Broken fibia/tibia will cause this, extreme break. The donor skin site was more trouble and grief than the actual graft itself. Within 4 months i was walking, 6 months, jogging, 1 year no problems.

They insert a balloon elsewhere to stretch the skin out on another area, which they cut off, and that area gets closed up back to normal and voila, you have a graft.
