It's odd, but Bret Easton Ellis said this is his favorite adaptation to his book. I don't think the tone of this movie really matched the tone of the book at all. I think the only adaptation to his books I felt didn't butcher his material at all was American Psycho.

i think.... it was directed beautifully and portrayed awesomely by the director (and i guess the actors). roger avery took the rewinds and voice overs to new heights and that is exactly how the book was.

This movie dwelled somewhere between shallow university gross-out fest, and depressing lost love movie where nobody is happy in the end.
