I've been a soldier and a slave. I've seen my comrades fall in battle or die more slowly under the lash in Africa. I've held them in my arms at the final moment. These were men who saw life as it is, yet they died despairing. No glory, no brave last words, only their eyes, filled with confusion, questioning "Why?" I don't think they were wondering why they were dying, but why they had ever lived
@amyers708 Hi, I've just read your comment "...I don't think they were wondering why they were dying, but why they had ever lived" and I'm wracking my brain to remember if this quote appeared on a Carter track. My foggy memory tells me it did, but I can't remember which one. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks.
@ForViewingOnly Fear not, I Googled it... 'Skywest and Crooked' was the track... I just listen to it and was transported 20 years back in time... God, where does the time go?
I dont get this. But I still respect it. Im young, and I fuckin love it. Yet Im aware that youth passes without your consent... Hope I take it in stride, and make the best of it, without bitterness...btw IM 25, almost...
this is my quest to follow the star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far, to fight for the right, without question or pause, to be willing to pass into hell, for a heavenly cause, if i'll only be true,
Saw these guys a lot in the early days and am overwhelmed with their talent to this day. I was a Jamie Wednesday fan pre-CUSM.
Haven't been back to Streatham in yonks but still have my 12" copy of 'Vote For Love' (I photographed the cover) their rendition of 'White Horses' still gives me goosebumps! I also found all the Fostex portastudio tapes they gave me - which has a cracking version of Les singing 'Can't take my eyes off you'.
Seen the play ata festival in Freemantle Western Australia back in 92 if i remember...them and Iggy Pop stole the show..two great acts....Come back Jim Bob/
I saw them once in 92 in Lisbon and it was great gig, only 200ppl there to c USM cause few ppl know them in portugal, few but good, i envy u all ppl who went to last November show in brixton, i saw some videos and i guess it was a great show.
Carter are the best. I saw then at Glasgow Barrowlands last week playing their 20th anniversary gig. My ears are still recovering. They're playing one last gig at Brixton but it's sold out.
this tune saved my life.... life as a kid/teenager was shit this saved me, now all grown up and life is ace !!!! still love carter and the truth they speak in there lyrics most UNDERATED band of all time !!!!
I remember this, i watched with eager eyes, through the press to see if they'd be doing any promo on TV. Great band, sorely missed. Got me through college (maybe).
Get busy livin'or get busy dyin'. Cheers Jimbo, Cheers Fruitbat. One of the great tunes...

Micronation - You fat bastard.
When you're younger you can eat what you like, drink what you like, and still climb into your 26" waist trousers and zip them closed.
