Leopards naturally are faster and stronger, certainly more intelligent than hyenas, or usually on similar rank, however because they don't hunt in packs like lions or are not as formidable as tigers- they cannot afford injury.

As solitary predators they sustain themselves on injury-free lives, so when confronted they'll resort to sacrificing whatever is in their possession that the other predator wants.

And you're probably right, in some cases, that some animals may be killed by people just to attract predators for footage. It's not unethical - the bodies aren't wasted, the animal's killed v. quickly. I just wouldn't do it though. There's something wrong about it. Invasive on something which is not our 'right' or domain, or such like.

it's a stealth, ambush hunter, with a succes-rate beyond that of any other big cat. and it has it's kills stolen much less often then other predators, save lions packs.

being in groups would only slow it down. you can't much ambush multiple enemies per hunt, but with a pack you do need more food, bad idea.

and more size would mean less stealth.

they are also the only non-endangered big cat. they are perfect just as they are.

Hyenas have very powerful jaws and people always stereotype them for being weak and pathetic when lone hyenas have been recorded to take prey items as large as a wildebeest. Leopards hunt alone. A serious injury from a hyena can impair its hunting and can eventually make it starve. Leopards arent social animals. They live solitary lives.
