No that's not true. You can make every sounth with operator. Snares, pads, kicks, bass, lead...

yeah, i know. i took a closer look on my operator. (the brand new edition in live 8 is even better)! i am absolutely impressed, what huge spectrum of sounds can be created on this awesome device.

BUT:

i figured out that the operator is not for dumb noobs, who try every parameter of the vst without knowing what it does ;-). you wont get good sounds out of it when you are not familiar with the producers basics (ring modulation, envelopes, etc.)
