HAaha...I'm not sure "standing up for yourself" is always the best way. I've seen a couple freshman "stand up" for themselves when called freshie or joked with and they got a couple juniors/seniors pretty mad. The kind of senior guys you don't want to be on the bad side with.

I joined the wrestling team and I am a freshmen and am heavier than everyone else (upper class men included, i know i am a big guy i am not fat just really strong) and no one picked on me, because they knew not to mess with me, and I know after two days I made like 30 new friends. Don't worry people high school is awesome, its a new chapter to life, and also in middle school, girls didn't really like me. But now I have at least 5 girls showing signs. High school is awesome so don't worry.
