  • @lifqua The track you're referring to is "Chiu Chiu", track 8 off the "Tag" tape from 1963-64. Very rare indeed to find a vocal track in trade test tapes back then!

  • I recall all these melodies pretty well note perfect after well over four decades. as the high-school-boy me listened to them over and over back then! I used to conduct in front of the telly in a harmless little reverie... seems a bit sad now. but I loved it anyway. A thousand thankyous to the contributor.

  • @humboles Be not ashamed.

My sister and I used to give all these tunes titles.

They were only known in our house by our personalised titles but the whole family knew which tune we were referring to.

We even wrote texts to some of them.

Children were very resourceful in those days.

  • If you can insert the dots each side of the D (the dots were added in December 1965) then it would be absolutely perfect! Otherwise terrific effort all round!

  • It would be nice to hear the full length versions of some of these tapes ... for example Organ Grinder and Binokel.

  • I have a complete, but poor recording of the Binokel tape; also Bugle Call Rag. Both were used for regional opt-outs in the South of England.

  • If you have them, would it be possible for you to post them on youtube?

  • Certainly, but it will have to be when time permits. Each tape may have to split into three parts, though.

A favourite of mine was 'Marsch: Bayrische Baum' - Would love to hear that again if anybody has it.
