The kind of accidents that really makes me mad, and it does happen in Taiwan from time to time is that people double parallel park their cars, and open their doors without looking for scooters coming from behind. Double parallel is one thing, careless drivers open doors and hit the scooter causing the rider to fall into the oncoming lane and die is another. It makes me mad when someone has to die from another person's reckless behaviour.

In Australia where i live, 80% of the accidents that you see involve people from undeveloped countries or continents, nearly all the time when you seen an accident you will see an Asian, Indian or an African driver. Other times you see them driving without indicators or don't follow the road rules and the ones that do, they drive 30 km/h under the limit...

I hope that guy is OK. I ended up damaging my spleen when I got into my scooter wreck a couple of years ago because the handlebar went into my abdomen when we collided.

Hey, where are you living in Taiwan? I was there for 4 weeks, in Hsinchu. I'm biker, and maybe if you are near Hsinchu or Tainan (the 2 places I'm going generally, maybe we can have a drink! can be fun! I'm generally 3 times a year between 4 and 8weeks there.
