With all due respect and all musical preference aside, the people who really make the music should get the credit. In this case, it's a disappointment that your friend wrote some successful songs and a few poster boys from "New Kids on the Block" got the credit. The majority of popular music these days isn't written by those who get credit for it.
I should give T-Pain some credit for actually producing, but part of me is never going to get past the face-value message and auto-tuning.
It's called the music business for a reason. It's a business wether you and I like it or not. You do music, enjoy doing it, and try to make money. That's what these guys are doing.
If you have a formula that works and can make you and I "Stars" let me know...
P.S. My boy just finished writing for Michael Bolton, Toni Braxton, Lionel Richie, Akon...just to name a few...
Wow, it sure doesn't take a lot of production value to impress you folks.
Sorry to bring you guys down, but this is the lowest common denominator of music... face-value lyrics and a bunch of vocal tweaking and beats thrown together on a laptop.
love this video

He's a smart dude. He's making millions and admits it doesn't take much effort.
Here's a radio quote from T-Pain himself (about using digital AutoTune in all of his music).
"I didn't think I was going to do it, but it kinda happened...its makin' me money so I aint about to stop... it's been workin' so far"
Doesn't give him a lot of artistic integrity. Not that I'd expect more from a guy whose only messages are about loose women and clubbing.

I do understand what you're saying though. I felt that way before I started writing with my boy Nasri...
It's all about who you know in this game homie.
I like to hear some of your music...

Hay Aranaa,
If you can make hits like these guys, get at me mang...for real !!!!
My boy wrote 7 songs on the "New Kids On The Block" album and these dudes are working hard...
There is always space for "fad" music. I'm all about "timeless" music myself, but without hits, an artist will not succeed in this industry.
I love this song...
much love

People who allow these guys to make millions by buying something that took a producer and his computer hardly any effort to make.
