Suffice to say that at the end of this song, there was a severely scarred six year old standing there sobbing at the fact that the cat had frozen to death. I think people dissing the song for its premise are missing the point. It's an allegory: cat = JC; mouse = mankind; Santa = JC's "dad"; constellation = heaven; etc. It's more of an Easter song passing itself off as a Christmas song, which is probably why some find it not in sync with the spirit of the season.

this is basiclly what happened to my cat but she was in a bag with all of her brothers and sisters and they were left out for the night. My cat was the only surviver. her brothers and sister kept her warm. She was the runt of the family. She died last year february and when my teaher showed this song i remembered her story so baby girl i love you.

If you do not like the video, then don't say anything. I'm already sick of the comments that say, "This video sucks. I hate it." If it sucks, why did you watch it? Why did you comment? People have their own opinions, so please keep yours to yourself.

@buniffa You cannot relate to this song because you are a GUY! I've played this in mixed crowds, and inevitably all the women are reduced to tears and the guys look around and don't understand.
So you can't be dumber for listening it. You just don't have the empathy to understand why it's such a good song. And why so many people love it.

This is by far the worst song I have ever heard!! Not only are the lyrics terrible and there is no rhyming but the singer sounds like a pedofile dad. This song makes me angry!!!!

this song contradicts the "merry" in "merry christmas".

this is basiclly what happened to my cat but she was in a bag with all of her brothers and sisters and they were left out for the night. My cat was the only surviver. her brothers and sister kept her warm. She was the runt of the family. She died last year february and when my teaher showed this song i remembered her story so baby girl i love you.
and how can people not like this song, it is beautiful.

I have two cats and am getting ready to adopt another stray who has been living outside my back door. obw2468, perhaps the odor you smell, that you attribute to cats, is your nasty attitude and inability to bathe properly. I've never had a cat who didn't use the litter box. Apparently, your trailer smells like you.

I agree with ziloe. It was a selfless act for another. I have always said I would do the same and if placed in such a situation I will. I have much love for all and have always placed others above myself. I love all life, and have always been willing to sacrifice for others. I consider myself blessed with every opportunity I have had to help others.

I too was quite surprised at those who remained focused on the cat dying and not the sacrifice she made. Rather than making a meal out of this mouse to survive the cold night, she instead saved it's life by allowing it to curl up it's it's fur to keep warm. Thank you ziloe for trying to explain.

My neighbors found a kitty outside, brought her in and put her back outside a few days later because she said it was bad, so we brought it in, and it's so soft and white as snow, and it's like a little bulldog, walking around all tough, I <3 that cat! :)

We have a grey skinny cat (male) that has not been home for almost three weeks. I don't know where he is and this song has made me sad for him. I hope he comes home but I don't think he will. I am sad.
