Janick is a nice guy, and I loved his playing on Tattooed Millionaire. But he doesnt bring anything to Maiden whatsoever. Any studio albums with him on in the 90s are Maidens worst work as a band. Adrian Smith isnt just a better guitarist, he's a huge part of what makes Maiden great. Gers absolutely butchered Smiths solos on things like A Real Live/Dead One and Donington 92. It was terrible, I cant listen to that stuff. Maiden will always be about 1980-88, and nothing beats Powerslave. Period.

I don't understand why people still piss at Janick. If Iron Maiden was better off without him, Steve would have kicked him out long ago. But he haven't because he knows he's good, both in playing guitar and in composing songs. Dance of Death is THE song and it wouldn't exist without Janick in Maiden. Dave and Adrian see him as an equal, so why shouldn't the fans do the same?
