  • I'm gonna hold my final verdict until drop day, when I can spin the whole album through a couple of times, but I'm not feeling this song. Great hooks, and Max's vocals are in fine form, but it is lacking something. He seems to have lost the fire in his belly and the venom in his veins. It lacks the explosive passion that "...IARB" seeped with. And that's completely understandable, since he is now very happy. Not that it's bad by any means. Average SA beats almost everything else out there.

  • @dvt1393 I wish more people would understand this. he isn't the same as he use to be, and the lyrics are gonna be different and seem less aggressive and passionate. but even a mediocre say anything song is better than just about anything else out there. but personally i love this song, not the chorus so much, but the rest has a great sound.

  • I love this band the lyrics are so different XD

  • Sometimes you just have to burn a miracle and also try to remember forget Because i know i'd walk through hell for you (:

  • @90irock That was literally, just fucking stupid your an embarrassment to Say Anything

  • 'You loathe a life that you've barely begun to live.' That line gets me.

  • Omg just let me marry Say Anything, ok? -33333

  • burning america is cool. they're music, on the other hand, well..

  • I didn't like their self titled album, Is a real boy is one of my favorite albums of all time, this album will compete with Is a real boy :D

  • a true poet among so-called "wordsmiths"

  • Max Bemis has to be one of the most poetic music artists I've ever heard. I respect him so much for his eloquence....

  • He sounds like that guy from the Beastie Boys.

  • No other band makes me feel the way I feel when I listen to this music. Not to say that they are my favorite band. But man the feeling I get when listening to this band...its like the ultimate euphoria.

  • It's gonna be a good year in music, after all <3

  • I love Max Bemis's lyrics. I always have, from the old dromroom demos and Baseball all the way to Say Anything. But the music needs to be... less pop-y. Most of this song is really good, but the course is so pop-y repetitive and boring, and the guitar could use a nice drop-d to heavy it up, just a tad. The style just sounds too pop for how punk (and amazing) the lyrics are. I felt the same way about Say Anything (the album). I'll still buy Anarchy, My Dear, and know every word to every song.

  • @SicariusSanctus says the high school sophomore who just learned how to play some dashboard confessional on his $90 guitar. this song sucks pretty hard, coming from a long time SA fan

  • @motty32 So you both agreed with, and insulted me? What is wrong with you?

Also, I've been listening to Say Anything for the better part of a decade, since ...Is A Real Boy came out and I decided to see if they had any other music too. And how long you've liked a band doesn't give you any more credentials to critique a song. I've heard every Say Anything song that's out there, from Junior Varsity and the unreleased demos to the b-sides on the vinyl

  • @motty32 that came out with Say Anything. I have as much of a right to an opinion as you. Disagreeing and debating it is one thing, but insulting me (falsely and with no context to gain those assumptions from) just makes you look dumb and unable to formulate your thoughts into coherent counter-points. You're 25, maybe it's time you grew a brain.

  • The thing I like about say anything as that you can start listening to song and it will sound completely different at the end

  • I already have the new album haha :) and it's amazing

  • Looking at Say Anything's development from Baseball to the most recent self titled album this song makes perfect sense. Though it feels a bit more processed than any of the previous albums I am incredibly excited for this new sound to become a part of my Say Anything collection.

  • Thumbs up if you came here just to see what Casey has come up with.

  • Didn't like it much at first. BUT IT HAS GROWN ON ME! AAAHHHHH!1

  • Listening to Say Anything's new single: by far the best thing I've ever done at 3 in the morning. And that includes sex.

  • I'm just psyched to hear new Say Anything songs.

  • I Want to hear the song "Say Anything" But youtube took it down

    .

  • I (presumptuously) thought the move to Equal Vision might mean more of a "...Is A Real Boy" feel but this doesn't really sound that way :-\...but I'm still going to hold out hope!

  • i love this, he still sticks to his advanced story telling music. they didnt change at all. the same old say anything

  • not sure how I feel about this yet.

  • this is gonna ba a great record the accoustic sounds so good

  • oh my god what the fuck did i just listen to?

  • this is bull shit

  • @bob2theboney That's a funny joke.

  • @r0fl0c0pt3r...im happy that you feel that way but its still bull shit

  • I feel warm inside. :3

  • Max, you have one again Blown my mind lyrically and vocally. I'm not gay, but I love you.

  • Thank you so much, I wasn't sure if they were ever gonna come back. Can't wait to see them in Portland. It feels like my birthday!

  • so in love!

  • seriously i dont think theres a track say anything has put out that i didnt like of course i like some more than others but seriously lyrical fucking genius i have never commented on youtube but the fact some idiot said say anything self titled album was their worst is enough to make me finally do it i guess anyways fuck that guy say anything fucking rocks and im so happy they have a new album coming out SO PASSIONATE

  • "muck and the mire"...kinda reminds me of "hang me up to dry".

  • Favorite band, Max Bemis is a lyrical genius. nuff said

  • Yeah..um this hole album did leak and i downloaded it now i always buy my music butnew sayanything album i just couldnt wait when i heard it was leaked..so i went onlin downloaded the whole cd and lisened to it and honestly other than admit it again..i very much disliked every song,it seems to lack the ful band its like its just max singing, witch dont get me wrong is amazing but i think its his wife telling him how he should write music like hes undersomeone elses influence when he wrotethe albm

  • Vocally, this is like my favorite of Max's and I feel like a lot of fans won't like it because it's so upbeat and more poppy, but so much better than their self-titled, which was by far their worst album. But Say Anything has been my favorite band since I was 12 and I'm glad that they are doing something I don't only listen to because I'm a fan girl....

  • Aaaaaaannd... replay.

  • Welcome back guys i missed you

  • This feels right.

  • reminds me slightly of young dumb and stung

  • @timolson116 I thought the exact same thing. After I heard this song I had Young, Dumb, and Stung in my head and couldn't figure out why.

  • @timolson116 Was explaining this song to a friend, and Thats exactly what I said

  • from what i can tell this seems much more similar to 'is a real boy' theres more angst in it, and to me and thats largely what defines say anything, along with the awesome lyrics. hope so see some of you guys at the concerts!

  • SO JAZZED FOR YOU GUYS TO COME TO DENVER IN MARCH!

  • @000pcf You and me both!

  • this is good, but nothing will ever compare to is a real boy

  • This album will be so great.

  • @doode12333 It IS great. It's leaked lolol. I'm a huge fan of almost every song on it.

  • the album sounds like 50x better with proper headphones so that there's proper mixing and you can hear the bass. At first listen, i was very depressed, but giving it a proper listen now, its significantly better. Unfortunately, not as good as ..is a real boy or some of the cooler dormroom demos yet, imo, but surely it'll grow on me! im pretty satisfied - expectations aside, it's just 11 more say anything songs to enjoy!

  • I felt the same way about the last 2 albums... but then they both grew on me immensely. I didn't start really listening or getting into the last album until almost 8 months later. give it time is right.

  • album is leaked.... this is a good song and one of the standout tracks on a very very disappointing album. Worst thing they've released since Baseball.

  • @Swingfinger baseball is hands down their best album. Where can you get the leaked songs haven't been able to find it.

  • @rdepfer Baseball is pretty bad... horrible production, bland power chord progressions without any variation to liven things up, the lyrics lack the self aware/self defeating charm of his later work and they're not clever enough to be interesting. Really all you have is is a bland pop punk album without Max's signature lyrics/songwriting that make Say Anything stand out. Check Pirate Bay for the new album.... it isn't terrible but it lacks that bite that make Say Anything a great band.

  • @rdepfer He has said in interviews that this album is supposed to be a successor to ...Is a Real Boy but that album was written by a depressed/psychotic Max... basically a completely different person. Now that he's happy, married, and Christian it feels like he's also lost his muse.

  • Is that Cobie at the start?

  • The wheels on the first conveyor belt go the wrong way

  • (With lyrics)

  • 3/31/12...i can't wait

  • @huskerpacker67 4/23/12

    GONNA BE FUCKING EPIC

  • It's crap that a dancing fat kid gets views faster than a talented band. . .

  • on the fence w/ this one

  • i dont think i could ever dislike a max bemis creation

  • @RunsInTheSkinnyJeans I Wouldnt neccasarily call it a dissapointment, buri will say it's could be better from what I've already heard

  • Awesome.

  • favorite band, when the lead singers not on the road, he's in an asylum and thats where he writes his music. i thought that was a cool fact.

  • @HeySarahPaige Too bad its not a cool fact but rather a hero worship rumor that has absolutely no truth to it. Yes, he is bipolar and deals with it, but that is it. Next time you want to give us some facts do yourself the favor and actually check up on them.

  • @HeySarahPaige One thing that should have clued you in is that fact that he is a happily married man. The only truth to the "asylum" comment was that he did briefly stay in 2005 to recuperate from an increased depressive episode. But this was a relatively short stay and he has never had a problem since. Again people...take the 5mins to google the guy and guess what you'll find...the truth.

  • new album is a disappointment

  • @RunsInTheSkinnyJeans Let it grow. It's kind-of how it is with every Say Anything album..

  • I dislike this purely because the lyrics feel contrived and forced in comparison to raw emotional outburst that was ...Is A Real Boy. That's my main complaint.

  • the song is rockin...but has anyone commented on how awesome this lyric video is?

  • Welp, my job continues with this new CD coming out soon. I must buy it, pay extra money if I can, and then learn every word to every song on the album.

  • This single is amazing. The rest of the album should have had this much energy. :[

  • I'm going to say it. This album is better then ...Is a Real Boy. Every song is just amazing. Anarchy, My Dear is Max's best work. Hands down. The best. "Admit it Again" is Bemis at his best. This song close to it too.

  • @boxofficedeath

    No. Just...no. No. Fucking NO.

  • OMG FINALLY!!!! <33333 Max, you sound better than ever!! Coby, nice job on the drums dude!! Jake, that's some awesome guitar right there!! Parker, you're cool man! Oh and Adam? WELCOME TO SAY ANYTHING!!!

Burn America if you've got a soul!

  • @ParamoreFreakDK Yeah Coby and Max sound great, thats it. Everyone else sounds nonexistent,... because they weren't there in the recording studio. Just FYI

  • I love every song from the album, its frikin beautiful!

  • Wait til you hear the rest of the album.

  • Hahahaha whether you love it or hate it, you gotta love Say Anything fans for the fact that their praise/criticisms are so much more well thought out and structured than any other bands' fans.

  • @christyloveslamp Good Point!

  • As a song, I like it. As a Say Anything song... I really don't know. I don't hate it, and frankly, I'm just excited to see them making music again.

  • Its about time i was waiting on this for so long!

  • If you don't like this song then...I have no words to say to you. This is so much better than their last album's material, which I loved, mind you. If you didn't like it on the first listen then you could...uhh...give it another fucking chance you moron! Go listen to the weekly top 40, if you don't think this is an amazing song.

  • There has NEVER been a bad Say Anything song. <3

  • Anyone who thinks this song, and album, are a disappointment, are not true Say Anything fans. This is what they are about. No one gives a shit about what structure you like or whether or not you think the ideas are "real." Say Anything is a band of growth and understanding. They aren't the same band they were in ...Is a Real Boy. And thats the point

  • @Possumzz I feel like that was the same way with their single "Hate Everyone" on their last album. It wasn't at all the best song on the album but yet it was the only one they did a music video for and released as their "single"

    so... ya never know

  • @djg38259 I agree with you, but I think the song hate everyone was chosen for good reasons, namely that it was a blatant rip off of I fought the law. It makes a lot of sense to release a song like that because everyone already knows the general melodies without having to listen to the song more than once.

I just listened to the cd 2 or 3 times through so far and I'm still not too impressed. Theres no songs that pop out like Mara and Me did on the last cd.

  • Hate to say it, but this song just does not cut it. I can't see the album being very good if this is the "single" they released - theres no good hooks at all and its a pretty poorly structured song.

  • i'll stand by what i've always said, max bemis was a way better artist when the drugs were incorporated with the music making.

  • @billman9825 Agreed.

  • Google the lyrics to "Admit it Again" (new song, not a typo) - the original related to fans, this one dubs the "...Is a Real Boy" following as hipsters, hence the lines about "being proud to usurp the popular kids" and the "website with Satan as a figurehead" (Pitchfork). I should mention the song's prefaced with "don't wanna hear how the latest rihanna single is a masterpiece," I guess to reassure fans the song isn't about us - but neither was "Admit It" right? /sigh.

  • This is equivalent to 1000 orgasms.

  • No one ever fuckin' tells me when they have a new album! Fluck. Oh well. Now I know. I love Say Anything.

  • @Roseisababe111 I'm on the same boat ahah! this made my day!

  • This has got to be one of the dumbest songs I have ever heard, and I've heard a lot of dumb stuff

  • i love them they have been the only band that has stayed to their roots to me

  • this song sounded awful at the start then i liked it at the end >< WHAT THE HELL?!

  • The new album is a rather huge disappointment. :( :(

  • @LukeSarazine relly???

  • I've heard the whole new album, and this is definitely the worst song on it.

  • LOVE.

  • best part of the song 0:00 - 3:55

  • @kevrotaku58 And noone gave two shits that day

  • WTF Bemis?

  • Notice how burn a miracle sounds an awful lot like 'burn america'. In some parts he doesnt even say the 'le' in miracle and just says mirac which sounds like 'america'

    Just saying

  • @ThePregnantEskimo he's saying "burn america" near the end. he follows up with "burn the dream".

  • @ThePregnantEskimo Say Anything released these lyrics and this video on their own. This isn't a fan video. It's the real deal. And it DOES say "Burn America".

  • @ThePregnantEskimo They do say "america" at certain bits, what's your point?

  • Honestly can't wait for them to come to Portland. I hope they play some other songs than Admit It!!! off of IARB, like Spidersong(:

  • You guys are comparing, it's just something new and beautiful. We get to hear every stage of their lives this way.

  • @mrspeakershere couldn't have said it better myself!

  • I should be getting to see Say Anything live in Asheville on April 20 :) I can't wait

  • Great song. Where can I find the lyrics?

  • The only thing I didn't really like was the chorus. Being a SA fan for a long time, the chorus just seemed a bit too much for me for some reason. The bridge/ending is probably the best part of the song. Hopefully Coby has a shit ton of vocal parts this album.

And I hope that this song is a bit more polished on the album.

  • Have I been added to an FBI watch list by viewing this video?

  • I have rediscovered Great Music!!!

  • I can already tell Anarchy My Dear Will be Great. I Listened to the Pre-Samples on iTunes about 5,000 times!

  • this song grew on me. when i first heard it i was disappointed but i think it was just because of the hook.

  • Just listened to "Admit It Again." I dunno what to think of that song, but perhaps it will grow on me.

  • max's lyrics are always really smart, witty and original. that is why i love this band

  • Why compare Max and Oberst? Neither one could do what the either does.

  • The chorus has grown on me. I love it now.

  • Max Bemis is the only man alive who I would tattoo his face on my body...

  • the rest of this album is fucking amazing, way better than the last :]

  • LOVE IT!!! But the burn amercia has me confused

  • @brainless14 Because i like america

  • @StupidPencil999 Don't take the lyrics literally. If you know Bemis' lyrics, you'll know that he harbors passionate distaste for a lot of young American culture (songs like Admit It point to this). The "Burn America" is probably towards the culture of the American music scene, not the country itself.

  • @StupidPencil999

As he said it's about the mindset and ideals of our country and culture. Not even necessarily the music culture only.

  • @brainless14 Thanks. Thats what i was thinking

  • INFINITE BONER: ENGAGED.

  • Yes.

  • @975kool it's not that easy, the drive is 2 hours away, and I have no car. Plus, none of my friends like SA because they are morons.

  • @ArtisticBlock You need new friends!

  • @ArtisticBlock You need new friends!

  • @ArtisticBlock You need new friends!

  • The end of this song made my life better xD

  • I like this song no matter what their old stuff was, it's classic Say Anything, attacking things that need to be changed.

  • this is sex

  • ... So I just learned that Say Anything is coming to Florida on the 24th-25th of April, both which are school days, so I can't go. But at least I'll have Anarchy by then, that's good though, right? /:,

  • @ArtisticBlock SKIP

  • @ArtisticBlock Fuck school lol. I'd go to concerts on school nights all the time.

  • @ArtisticBlock You can miss a day of school

  • I really like the new stuff, in fact just as much as the old, it's a very different style, guaranteed, but that doesn't inherently mean it's bad. Every band is going to change it's style over the years. It's been nearly 10 years since ...Is a Real Boy, and the music will change along as the band has. Come on, guys, it's Say Anything, you can't really go wrong.

  • I never wanted to be that guy, but I wish they sounded more like their older stuff. I don't hate the song, though.

  • It started out slow, but then it got prettty good, I hope the new album will be better though

  • if you hate say anything because of this song, i hope you burn WITH the miracle. AND america AND the dream.

  • This is the last chance I'm giving Say Anything. They've burned me too many times now.

  • Comment removed

  • Decent song, I really hate the intro and the outro with the counting. It just sounds cheesy. I wish Bemis would go back to Is/was a real boy style stuff but I doubt he ever will.

  • Hard to imagine them ever being as good as ...Is a Real Boy again, but I do like this song on the first listen. I like how they incorporate keyboards without sounding like a completely different band as they had on previous efforts. Is it just me though, or have Max's lyrics have gotten more and more cringe-worthy over the years?

  • @lithium191 I would not say cringe worthy. A lot of time he is using metaphors. If you listen to his older lyrics they were nothing spectacular but it was how they were sung. The band has always been about the style. Even slowed down on this album they do it well. They are just singing about different themes in this album.

  • @Pyricshadows I'd certainly say the lyrics of the "I ignored the sheep and shepherds on my way..." verse of Belt, to give an example, was pretty damn spectacular, and probably superior to this, and similarly metaphorical. I guess it can be said that the lyrics here are more general, so the figurative language made around a specific theme, which is what usually ends up sounding so damn brilliant was instead substituted for "create the mood" kind of words. great song though, fav band

  • @lithium191 He's said it himself now that he's married he's finding it harder to right songs about what he used to write about.

  • @lithium191 I think this actually sounds similar to Is a Real Boy. I personally like the direction they're heading with it.

  • @lithium191

Not just you. "I know a place where the moon goes to fly"? This isn't comparable to some of their other stuff: "Woe" and "The Futile" juxtaposed realism and optimism, "Alive With the Glory of Love" is so fucking dark, beautiful, and brilliant, "Skinny, Mean, Man" articulated the struggle of the nice guy, and dare I say "Admit It"? Sure, now that I'm out of high school the song doesn't "get me" like I originally thought, but there's still some damn good lyrics in there.

  • i like this, but then i listen to older albums and it makes me wanna die.

  • @iamsofuckingirken its pretty dope even compared to some of their best,, a nice lyrical storie with a dark undertone, with some dope guitar riffs behind sounds like a good say anything song to me, except the quality ffor this video

  • not too crazy about the song, but i cant find it in my heart to dislike it.. i mean, come on. it's say anything!!

  • So jacked for the album! this song is amazing. The more you listen to it the better it is

  • Love it... What more to say

  • Max is such a perfectionist
