  • do you recommend the echo audiofire series?

  • @Uhmsters Well, working with Firewire can be a pain, but aside from that I do prefer the Echo Audiofire over other audio interfaces I have tried.

    Fran

  • @franguidry why is Firewire a pain?

  • @Uhmsters Apparently some of the manufacturers of chipsets failed to implement the spec properly, and those parts are the most common on motherboard level FW interfaces. So even if you have FW on your motherboard, you still need an adapter with a "good" (ie: Texas Instruments) FW chipset. And you need a slot to put it in.

It should be simple and plug and play, but due to historical accident it is instead tricky and difficult.

    Fran

  • @franguidry wow sounds complicated! I guess i'll end up buying the APOGEE ONE audio interface for the mac.

Hey by the way, do you mind if you check my videos out? I only have two right now, but one of them is my Original guitar instrumental.

  • @Uhmsters I'm not sure a device as limited as the Apogee One is the correct response to problems with Firewire chipsets, but it's certainly up to you.

I checked your clips - kind of distant from the style of music I'm interested in, but I really enjoyed the video production on your original. Looks like a ton of work. Did you create the backing track note by note?

    Fran

  • @homebrewedmusic well, I think I probably won't need all the inputs on the audiofire interface since I am just a solo musician at the moment.

and thankyou for your compliment! It took me one day to finish everything for my Original song. I created the backing track using Garageband synths. it was quite simple.

  • wonderful played - I love this Tacoma papoose P6K - anyone who will sell one to me

  • this is my grandmas brother

  • @KAMANAOKEKAI808 That makes you the great-nephew of one of the world's great musicians. Do you play?

    Fran

  • this is absolutely awesome!

  • hey guys don't forget to catch Uncle Led in his first feature film with Adam Sandler and Jen Aniston and Nicole Kidman movie next year. INCREDIBLE!

  • great stuff. great video as well. what camera did you use?

  • The shot you're looking at was caught on a Panasonic Lumix ZS3. It's a really wonderful little point&shoot cam that has a great video capability.

    The audio was recorded separately.

    Fran

  • Love it, beautiful video too.

    Lee

  • Glad you enjoyed it. People told me when I started that it was all about the light - and they appear to be right (grin).

    Fran

  • Wow, how many guys get to have Led visit and do a recording?!

  • Bob, you can believe I'm flabbergasted by all this as well.

Led took the little Papoose to the Santa Cruz gig last night and the guitar got a hana hou!

    Fran

  • Amazing sound out of that little guitar and great video quality. I can imagine Led was like a kid in a candy store in you guitar collection!

  • Thanks, Jesse. He does have fun when he's here. Of course they all sound just like Led when he gets into them!

    Fran

  • Awesome! Fran, you've got a a future as a filmmaker. Thanks for the video and commentary.

  • Andy, this new generation of cams is resulting in some pretty amazing stuff. I just got a new Lumix that's !!! waterproof !! Now I can get some real beach shots without having to go the repair shop afterward (grin).

    Fran

  • :-)

  • Glad I got a grin, Layne.

  • Fabulous!

  • Thanks, I was pretty impressed myself.

    Fran

  • Had to be fun in your house! With two kolohe buggahs......who knows what's going to happen. Ui-ha!

    Thanks,Fran.

  • Eh, Wanda, we're still having fun (grin). Every guitar is in a different tuning, and Led's going back through his old hand written song book.

    Wee ha indeed!

    Fran

  • Led is pure love for music. Watching him play is uplifting and always a treat. I showed an old clip of Led to a friend and he replied tounge in cheek: "are you supposed to have FUN making music!"

  • Hr, you put your finger on a big part of his charm. It's hard to imagine an artist with a more infectious sense of joy.
