Bad science is great for a laugh. The magnetic pole and the axis of rotation have nothing to do with one another. Magnetic north has been tengibly moving for centuries and it is a well known effect. The earth is aligned with the sun and the center of the milky way twice a year, once between and once on the outside. And 1/r^2 says that we are cosmographically in the exact same spot in terms of gravitation and magnetism as we will be in 2012. But hey, keep buying those canned goods.

Under normal circumstances, the solar "wind" distorts the magnetosphere and yes, 1 side would get more input but not during a magnetic reversal.

The variations would make incoming charged particles follow whatever lines of magnetic force were there. It would not be very pleasant and would be very hard to predict.

The thing that people, including scientists keep forgetting, the rotation of the entire earth's crust is a literal impossibility. However, the shift of the magnetic poles, and therefore the magnetosphere itself, is very possible and is what scientists have been detecting. The inner core spins as it is, imagine if the direction of that spin were to shift slightly? Thus magnetic polar shift, not movement of the entire Earth's crust. O.o

A shift in the Magnetic Poles would do nothing to the surface. The magnetic field is not a physically fixed feature of the planet anymore than a cloud is, but a mobile and fluid part of the world. The magnetic poles have moved several times in Earth's past, the evidence of which is in the magnetic orientation of the rock layers along the Atlantic Ocean. The Physical Poles don't change and never have. People seem to forget that the Physical Poles and Magnetic Poles are not the same thing.
