first of all blazers were supposed to get the 6th pick in 2007 but because of chance got the first pick so they stole the 1st pick :). also dont you think the blazers are so confident because one, they got Greg Oden, second and third they got the sharp shooter Rudy Fernandez MVP of europian league and might have pulled of the steal of the 2008 draft by trading Brandon Rush for the explosive Jerryd Bayless. Still we cant say portland will be a powerhouse the three rookies can turn into busts.

Batum has MUCH higher upside, Rodriguez will soon be out of the rotation because Bayless will pass him up as the backup PG soon. Rodriguez has already publicly complained and asked to be traded because he didn't get the PT he wanted. Batum is going to be crazy good in the Tayshaun Prince mold.

As for the trade, Amare is better than Aldridge, but PDX fans worry about how he would fit. We don't run, we demand Defense, and he wouldn't be "the guy"... Roy would be. So IDK man.

Rodriguez will probably never be a starter quality PG, but in the right system (like Golden State or NY) he can be a pretty good PG. A team that doesn't demand Defense and that plays an uptempo game that you shoot when you have an open shot he can do pretty good in. He would be really bad in Phoenix though... In his 3rd year he averages 5ppg and 4apg in almost 20mpg.

Anyway, the trade from a talent perspective is a steal for PDX, but like I said i'm not sure he is a guy we would go after.
