I thought that at first but then i realized it works! Mimi is very soft at the beginning and when she says "I DIE" it's stronger like her emotions are showing. I like it! It seems well thought and delivered in a great way from an acting and singing point of view.
Yeah I understand that the emotion is very strong, but passionate emotions don't always need to come out so harshly. Definitely the energy behind the "I DIE" line should be higher but it can be done with perhaps a mix of chest and head voice. Besides I feel like "Goodbye Love" is where the real strong singing comes in. And I guess the Roger just didn't have a strong enough falsetto to NOT belt it, which stinks. But still, I think this version was def one of the best.
But now that you mention it I realized why i like this version so much! It def reminds me of the OBC version with Daphne and Adam! I like it better than Rosario's. Had it been softer that's what it would've reminded me of. Interesting!
I actually really liked when she belted "Die!' it made sense musically, and character wise. I just didn't like that it quickly transitioned to tender. The switch was a tiny bit too fast for me
she is amazing, to be honest better than some mimi's who have been on broadway! I love the glitter in her hair :) the only thing bad is the dress but thats ok. hah! :]

Agreed! =) I absolutely love their version.
