What a cool video! Love Stewart Copelands feel and sound behind the kit. Sychronicity was a little bit hi-fi and I prefere the style of the earlier Police albums but his drums have always sounded fantastic.

Basically, whereas the band is playing standard time, you are ahead of them by a quarter note (or behind as he said he did)...it makes it sound funky as hell, but when done properly, it adds room for serious improv

He was SO far ahead of his time. Married rock and reggae, properly introduced the flam to modern music, and, got through his career very cleanly. He is still not 1 per cent less humble than when he began. You Police Members were the punkers WITH a brain.
