Carriers are in fact too short to accept a C141. I checked with an Air Force buddy of mine who's been a loadmaster for many years. If anyone would know for sure, it would be him. He said there's also a photoshopped pic going around of a C17 "taking off" from a carrier. So, px002... you were right, buddy.
Great video! Flew the C-141 as a pilot from 1976 to 1980. After watching this video, decided to write down all the places I had been to in the 141. Got tired of writing.
Thanks for the memories old girl. GREAT VIDEO!!!! i will miss that old bird. i was a Loadmaster@ Mcguire AFB from 86-89 (30th mas)broke my heat to see them cutt them up for cell phones!!! you really caputered the life with a c 141. love the beer shot and the metal toilet!!
I was there, last flight of the C141C, loved that plane, all systems q+, Comm/Nav.
The history of this plane, knowing how many veterans, from Vietnam, alive and passed, most had ghosts, she will always have a special place in my heart, mission rate, survior, the c-17/c-5 have nothing on the 141.
Loved the video.......was a crew chief at Travis A.F.B. from 1967 to 1970. Shipped out to Torrejon A.B. where I worked on the GREAT bird for another 11 years. I think I knew every nut an bolt on her and changed most of them. Must say, my eyes watered up watching it.
Great video...I, like a bunch of you worked the 141 for 13 years; first as an "A Model" (short fuselage). Did the Avionics Systems. 72-77; 84-92. At l:37 I saw "my" 8090 and crew at McGuire AFB. Great flying machine. Yes the Winter time was tough duty.
i was an electro environmental sys spec on the 141. i was asigned to the 437th AGS at charleston AFB. 92' to 95'. great planes but a bitch to troubleshoot at times
OOHhhh and I loved in fuel tank jobs. mmmm lol joke. T tail actuator change out, grave shift during winter no gloves because you don't have room for them because your arms and hands are wrapped up in linkage. LOL Kudos to all who worked on the c141
NIIICE job! My uncle Lt. Col. Park (Ret.) flew them things from the time he graduated from the Academy until he retired a couple years ago. Passed up promotions to keep his flying status. Made a couple trips from Gitmo to Iraq to take back single Iraqis detained in fire fights, and still made it to Mc Murdo in Antarctica. Gonna tell him about this one.
I'm proud to have worked on the awesome C-141 from 1993-2000 at Edwards AFB, CA as an G+C (instruments) troop. Of the 7 types of aircraft I've worked on, the C-141 will ALWAYS be my #1. I worked on the only 4 A-models after the others were stretched. 61-2775 (first one built), 61-2776 (my favorite), 61-2777 (with the butt can), and 61-2779 (with the fighter nose) will never be forgotten.
I will always love the 141...I was a crew chief on the "starlifter" from 95 tp 99 and I am a young guy.I was stationed at McChord in Wa State and loved every minute of it. I worked on every single one in the fleet since I was in the ISO docks. Hopefully someone else knows what that is and will reply. Let me know what the only edible piece of the plane is. Any chiefs out there will know that.....I look forward to hearing storied from other who had "pogoed" the tanks.
I'm sure you're well familiar with the 141 website. What an AWESOME site that is! Everyone that's worked the 141 has stated that it was their favorite airplane ever. There was a crew chief that you probably worked with during that time. His first name is John. He wears glasses and PCS'd to Yokota around 2002. I forgot his last name. Great guy! We talked 141's all the time.

Looks more like a C-130. Can C-141s actually do the carrier dance? I thought they were too long.

ISO docks in Charleston AFB. Hated the back-up structures, T-tail bolts and toilet changes too. But Id trade the C-17 for a C-141 any day.
