Now Hollwood could have always just made a new sitcom similar to or inspired by Kath and Kim and it probably would have been a lot better, but to actually take the name Kath and Kim and to remake a show like this in another country is just stupid. I mean here in Australia we could easily just make our own version of the big bang theory or two and half men but like this it just wouldn't be the same. Whats the point? Its all in english. Did they hate that we had something they didn't?

Nothing can beat the zany Aussie characters and memorable quotes eg. "Kimmie...Loook at MEE, Loook at MEE" Great stuff. As a rule I hate sitcoms but this is outstanding.

A dreadful dreadful remake. As usual the Yanks try to remake something and it fails. Why can't they learn to accept the originals? Kath and Kim is intended for the Australian culture. If that humour isn't understood by Yanks, tough! Go make your own shows.

The American version was more like a dodgy episode of The Gilmore Girls than Kath & Kim. It just wasn't funny and the casting was atrocious. Nothing beats the original.

The american one failed because over there, to be a success it HAS to be perfect i.e many takes, professional sets and props, and it needs to be sexy.

That is the COMPLETE opposite of what Kath and Kim is.

Unfortunately American TV never has had an understanding of realism. That is why Australian dramas are the best in the world - the acting and filming is believable.

Also, you can so tell that Selma Blair and Molly whatsit didn't write their own stuff. Gina and Jane grew with this series. And the American version's house is too 'glamorous'.

Does anyone know where I can watch full episodes of the Aussie version of this show? I've been watching clips of it and think its hilarious! The American version isn't that popular here but I will admit its getting funnier. It for sure would not do well in Austrialia so I hope it doesn't air there again, you guys really wouldn't find it funny at all, way to Americanized (but apparently you didn't find it funny anyway!). In its defense it for sure took a few episodes to get going

I'd point out that other countries adapt American shows all the time too. Britain, France, Greece, and Russia have remade shows like "Who's the Boss?", The Golden Girls"", "The Nanny", and "Law & Order".

The US version was doomed to failure. I couldn't bring myself to watch it when it aired. I've seen a few episodes on youtube, and it's not that bad, but the only reason I "get it" is because I've seen the Aussie version.
