The songstress begins as an emotionless doll, but gains humanity after conversing with through these three characters.

The boy and the children teach her about emotions and little wonders, Yoko teaches her to love, and Kamina tells her a truth of the world. The boy decides to help the girl escape with a group of vagrants to see the real world.

At the end, the boy cannot go with her due to his marking, as Kamina said.

@MilleniaHeroes this is just a speculation but at 2:45-2:51 is probably yoko telling nia to stay away from Simon since it is not possible for them to stay together, then simon walked in and yoko just cheering him up. at 3:12 simon is holding a gem that nia gave him

@tong0neo Near the end you see the wind move Simon's hair, revealing his number. This means he was created by LordGenome and had no choice but to return to that house. He helped Nia escape but now she has to continue on her own, as the animators had intended this to end.

Part 1- LordGenome owns a large house in which he invites specific people (mainly women) to observe shows by his daughters. He created Yoko, Kamina, the two children, and Simon, who are branded with a number. Their jobs are to 'entertain' LordGenome's guests. Simon takes a liking to Nia, who had previously given him a red gem when she was young, but when the two get too close, LordGenome steps in because he doesn't want his 'star' performer to mingle with servants.

@allenwalker4th Part 2 - Simon wishes for her to be happy and Kamina understands how he feels. Yoko comments on how Nia is becoming more human since being with Simon then apologizes to Simon for bullying his 'important person'. Nia is unable to perform after seeing Yoko and Simon together, and LordGenome finds a replacement. Kamina shows Nia the cruel world she lives in and all the servants know she will more than likely be made a servant, to forever work under his control.
