The most german soldiers died in the east... 1945 we had not enough soldiers anymore for both frontlines... And for me the germans didnt loose... Wrong, in the battle of Prokhorovka, on permanent basis there were 500 soviet APV and 350 German. The losses each day were huge, but, with reinforcements the numbers remained pretty stable during 10,11,12. The problem for Germans is that they had to advance and not eat grass out there, because they formed the eastern flank of the spearhed to the north. Failing to advance they lost the battle. Great both strategical and tactical thinking by Soviets.
The LSSAH permanently lost a grand total of 7 AFVs. A further 25 were damaged and sent to repair shops. The Soviets, on the other hand, permanently lost at least 134 AFVs, more than 19 times the losses of the Germans. A further 125 were temporarily lost due to damage. There fore total AFV losses due to combat at Prokhorovka come out to 32 German against 259 Soviet. It is no wonder the Soviets had to inflate the size and losses of the German force; they were beaten badly.

Nazis produced 72,000 tanks, other Axis 6,000. In May 1945 they had 0 tanks. LOST in the Eastern Front 69,000 tanks. Therefore Axis and Soviets lost similar number of tanks on the Eastern Front.
Isn't it amazing thing that studies by Germans, Americans, Englishmen etc... are telling the same. German forces lost 323 tanks during the Zitadelle offensive while Soviet losses were 1 614 APV's if we trust official Soviet figures, 1956 if we choose Frieser's studies.
So the kill rate during Operation Zitadelle was 1:5 or 1:6 advantage Germans. Surely not a victory for Soviet. Actually they were beaten very badly by Germans, especially in southern sector.
These were Cold War studies, when Germans totally lost "2.4 million soldiers" on the Easetrn Front, stated by Gehlen, the Nazi responsible military spy for the Eastern Front, then put by USA and Brits as chief of West German intelligence. @imperialwombat as a History major and war enthusiast to be accurate the Germans were defeated by BOTH the Soviet Union and the other Allies together. If not for the fact that Germany had to split it's military to fight a two front war they might very well have beaten the USSR or Britain separately but they were overwhelmed by numbers and material. Soviets were facing only about half of the German forces they might have due to having to fight on the western front too.
To be accurate the second front was opened only when it became absolutely clear the Soviets will rampage through the western europe, not to let it happen. Soviets are responsible for approximately 75% of the german and their ally deaths. Germany didn't split it forces until the very end - concentrating it all on the eastern front - where, their back was broken.

The Allies could have won some battles, operations and so on, but they failed when it was about Germany itself (Operation Market Garden anyone?).
Anyway, both sides lost a lot, but you can't neglect the giant death machine that was the Eastern Front.

The most german soldiers died in the east... 1945 we had not enough soldiers anymore for both frontlines... And for me the germans didnt loose... Hitler the ss and the gestapo were the real emeny of the germans.Not all germans were nazis and a lot german suffered under the nazi regime too. It was a win for germany that the coward Hitler took his own life

Here are the real numbers of Prokhorovka:
10.7.43: Soviet 393 APV's, Germany 109 APV's
11.7.43: Soviet 421 APV's Germany 99 APV's
12.7.43: Soviet 167 APV's Germany 92 APV's
So in 11th of July 1943 at Prokhorovka there were maximum number of just 520 russian or german APV's. So far from the biggest tank battle in history. This is just one example how stalinist myths and fantasies were born.

Not so. Americans won the war when they together with RAF won the Air War over Germany. Remember, 2/3 of Luftwaffe fighters were against just 8th US Air Force even in autumn 1943. Then check how many fighters were in Italy and Balkans and you'll noticed that there wasn't Luftwaffe air superiority left in eastern front.
Perhaps you finally understand now why the west won the war. You got it?

check how many kills were made by the soviets, over 74% of kills of germans and their friends was made by the SOviets, america went in only when it was 100% clear that the soviets would win to stop them from occupying all of europe. BTW check for german divisions which were not dissolved in danish land. they were stationed there to help the "western" armies to attack the weakened USSR after the war

i look at the german wikipedia page on battle of kursk
and see troop numbers: sovj: 1.9million soldiers, approx 5k tanks, ger: 778k soldiers, 2.5k tanks.
These numbers fought on approx 300miles of frontline.
But you´re right, Prokhorovka was only one theatre of that battle thus there may have fought "only" 500 whatsoever tanks^^

Wrong, in the battle of Prokhorovka, on permanent basis there were 500 soviet APV and 350 German. The losses each day were huge, but, with reinforcements the numbers remained pretty stable during 10,11,12. The problem for Germans is that they had to advance and not eat grass out there, because they formed the eastern flank of the spearhed to the north. Failing to advance they lost the battle. Great both strategical and tactical thinking by Soviets.

The LSSAH permanently lost a grand total of 7 AFVs. A further 25 were damaged and sent to repair shops. The Soviets, on the other hand, permanently lost at least 134 AFVs, more than 19 times the losses of the Germans. A further 125 were temporarily lost due to damage. There fore total AFV losses due to combat at Prokhorovka come out to 32 German against 259 Soviet. It is no wonder the Soviets had to inflate the size and losses of the German force; they were beaten badly.

Now, the numbers: Soviets produced 91,000 tanks during the war and received 8,000 from allies, In May 1945 they had 15,000 tanks. Totally LOST - 84,000 tanks. Nazis produced 72,000 tanks, other Axis 6,000. In May 1945 they had 0 tanks. LOST in the Eastern Front 69,000 tanks. Therefore Axis and Soviets lost similar number of tanks on the Eastern Front.

Isn't it amazing thing that studies by Germans, Americans, Englishmen etc... are telling the same. German forces lost 323 tanks during the Zitadelle offensive while Soviet losses were 1 614 APV's if we trust official Soviet figures, 1956 if we choose Frieser's studies.
So the kill rate during Operation Zitadelle was 1:5 or 1:6 advantage Germans. Surely not a victory for Soviet. Actually they were beaten very badly by Germans, especially in southern sector.

These were Cold War studies, when Germans totally lost "2.4 million soldiers" on the Easetrn Front, stated by Gehlen, the Nazi responsible military spy for the Eastern Front, then put by USA and Brits as chief of West German intelligence. Gehlen is responsoble for atrocious war crimes against Soviet POW, I would believe his numbers as I would believe a serial killer that he is a saint. All these numbers are crap, Axis lost on the Eastern Front 6.1 million dead, not 2.4. LIERS.

Despite the possible more casualty on the Russian side Germans suffered a strategic disaster in Korsk, 2nd only to their Bulge offensive.

Just admit it, at Kursk Soviets outplanned, outfought and outsmarted Nazis, the most those retards from LSSAH, Totenkopf, Dar Reich were able to do was to advance 15 miles into a Soviet trap, LOL. The heavy losses of Soviets in 1941 is picturing an entire dream of Nazi dumbfucks. Yes, Soviets managed miserably in 1941, but they saved EVEN in 1941 Moscow and Leningrad. By December 1941 Nazis were beaten on the Moscow, they were retreating as hell. From 1942 to May 1945 Soviets had FEWER losses than Axis (Germany mainly). All this imagination about HUGE Soviet losses is from June-November 1941. And westerners keep quoting Nazi sources as Gehlen and Manstein. They are LIARS.

With tactical stalemate at Prokhorovka, Soviets launched the strategiacal Kutuzov operation, endangering both spearheads (in north and south), therefore this tactical stalemate is for Soviets like fixing the adversary for a decisive blow elsewhere. The only choise for Germans was to retreat or to be encircled. Germans were very far from reaching even partly the objective of capturing Kursk. Generally, Germans were very far everywhere it's said they were close to victory in USSR.

Not only German forces. Forces from Italy,Romania, Finland, Estonia and Poland were fighting alongside the Vermacht. UUSR faced half of Europe and won.

@imperialwombat as a History major and war enthusiast to be accurate the Germans were defeated by BOTH the Soviet Union and the other Allies together. If not for the fact that Germany had to split it's military to fight a two front war they might very well have beaten the USSR or Britain separately but they were overwhelmed by numbers and material. Soviets were facing only about half of the German forces they might have due to having to fight on the western front too.

To be accurate the second front was opened only when it became absolutely clear the Soviets will rampage through the western europe, not to let it happen. Soviets are responsible for approximately 75% of the german and their ally deaths. Germany didn't split it forces until the very end - concentrating it all on the eastern front - where, their back was broken.

@ReviewrOfGames The reason Russia was able to send its siberian troops to fight germany even before sept. 7th 1941 was that Japan did lose strategically to the Soviets in mongolia, this dettered japan from attempting further aggression so Stalin felt safe to move troops. Pls read your history. It was there that the t-34 had its first mass deployment and victories. Also helped greatly in making a name for Zhukov.

Without USA Soviets and Brits would have defeated Nazis by autumn 1945. USA was not needed at all, neither in Europe nor in Pacific. You got involved in Europe just because of the fear of Soviets. NATO was formed because USA wouldn't stand a chanse against Soviets, Soviet army was three times stronger than USA. Heck, during the Cold War, in 70-80ties even Soviet Navy was stronger than US Navy. Russia even now has 2 times more nukes than USA, check that out.

@anaplastic By Autumn 1945 we held back the German forces that were heading for London. I'm saying before 1954 the NATO was not needed because we had more weapons in it. The only reason the Soviet Union was so large was because it was attacking smaller countries. Germany was headed towards London while Finnish and other countries against the Soviets were holding them back. @ReviewrOfGames It took the USA 2 years to enter WW2, and you only fought a small portion of the German army on the Western front, the USSR faced millions of Germans, And if the partisans in Yugoslavia didn't kill and stop the Germans from the south to return to Germany, you would have faced a much larger army.

@Frki2005 Chetniks are Nazis??? You don't know what you're talking about. The first uprising against Germans in Europe was led by Dragoljub Mihajlovic, general of Royal Yugoslav Army, which disbanded after Nazis took over. Then he formed Chetnik regiments, to fight them in guerrilla warfare. Most Croat fascists, called Ustaše (who killed million Serbs), by the end of the war switched sides, to join Tito's Partisans. After the war Tito killed 80,000 Serb royalists, just in Serbia.
