  • I think you mean the 70's. In the 80's, toys used tape players, record playing toys were popular in the 60's and 70's.

  • She is not a Chatty. I have Charmin Chatty, she works similar, but operated with a battery-less pull string. I wonder if your doll's records would fit my Charmin Chatty doll.

  • Oh NO She's POSSESED! O_O

  • its naked

  • I really can't remember what her name was, sorry. She's gone to the big dolls' house in the sky now so I can't even ask her.

    @Gwizdo -- I'm sure she was haunted too! ;)

@cushe83, shreddersdr13 was correct, the mouth didn't move. This must have come from my grandmother in New Zealand (or Australia, I can't remember when she moved there) in the late 70s or very early 80s.

  • @garethjmsaunders why did you get rid of it it may be worth something but doubt it

  • wuts the name of that doll?

  • @spankspank666 chatty cathy

  • @ROFLcop95 Seconded. Very mussed up and missing original outfit, but definitley a CHatty Cathy.

  • I HAD that one when I was a small kid! O_O

    She sang songs and junk!

But I swear she was haunted...

  • REALLY YOU THINK SHE WAS HAUNTED!!

  • This was the first kind of talking toy before the introduction of teddy ruxpin.....

  • Sadly the doll has now been binned, when my Mum moved house.

  • Im pretty sure the mouth is supposed to move right

  • no its not.

  • thats stupid. all the other talking dolls of the 80's gave the aperance of life.

  • can you show us the inside of this doll, record player etc.

  • I had something like this actually 2 things, one was a pound puppy that had this sound box thing in its belly and it has a record in it like the one seen here and the other thing was a red robot and i think its name was magic mike, one time i was curious if i could play the record in the robot on my record player on my stereo no luck but prob nowadays i might succeed, may even have the audio on my ipod

  • This doll was owned by my sister and was a gift from a family member (grandmother?) from Australia or USA.

The voice was recorded on small records (about 2.5" diameter) which you loaded into its chest. You then pressed the button and it played one phrase.

Over time something went wrong so it just played one phrase after another as soon as you closed the record compartment door.

  • That is the weirdest doll I've ever seen. WTF lol

  • WTF!
