This game has obscenely good enemy AI. Play this, then play a game like Call of Duty. Enemies know where to chuck grenades, bouncing them around corners and whatnot. Enemies NEVER chase you around corners. It's incredibly impressive that new games have not gotten AI down as well as this game does.

I remember when F.E.A.R. was the best looking game on PC, back on 2005 and before Oblivion came out, this game was THE benchmark game, after Doom 3.

It went something like this as far as I can remember:

Doom 3 > F.E.A.R. > Oblivion > Crysis (for a lot of time) > Crysis 2 (with the HD textures and DX11 patch) > Battlefield 3 (some will argue that it's on par with Crysis 2, if not worse looking).

I have a very low threshold for F.E.A.R., and expected the worst when playing this game, but the horror really didn't strike me. At all. And Alma (besides being clichèd) never hurting you is like if Carrie only ever pull practical jokes instead of killing people.

I really believe that the F.E.A.R series is the best fps series out there the story is not great but has alot of depth and it is good, the gameplay is just really fun, and the slow-mo ability just makes the gameplay very different from any othere fps out there, the enviroments are really good and add to the already great horror elements, F.E.A.R is an amazing series and I hope they countiune it and don't stop with three but then again I hope they don't ruin it.

I am a Huge fan of FEAR, but I do hear that Alan Wake is really good. It pains me to say this, but I say go for Alan Wake. The psychological horror is outstanding and the atmosphere is engrossing to say the least. I can overlook the ageing gameplay for FEAR 1 because it is really fun and terrifying and the campaign is fairly long. Quite a tough choice you got there. You won't be dissapointed with Alan Wake though... Happy Gaming Friend! :)

Can i ask you something? As a person who haven't play any FEAR game which one i would like more the original or its sequel.. I ain't talking about 3 cause i am buying it anyways for the good coop i've heard it has. But along with 3 i would like to play one more... I would say 2, but many people say that the original is TONS better than 2. Personally i am doubtfull about originals being better than sequels in general. Sometimes we only think so cause the original is more.. well original:D

@topografer Also i say 2 because it clearly has better graphics, but mostly because it seems to have better shooting.. And the atmosphere of 1 is there... Offcourse all my sayings are just from videos i've seen.. But if fear had atmosphere, i think so does 2, but with the second we all knew what to expect.. Same thing with dead space 1 and 2.. On the other hand fear 3 is so much more action oriented and you can see that..

to comment on the review, i guess to each his own on regards to him liking fear 2 more, BUT i like fear 1 better, because it introduced the genre, and gave it an original essence about it. True Fear 2 has better visuals and more colors.... but fear2 just seems so much more arcade style... franchised ... better graphics BUT i prefer the original storyline of fear 1
