I'm glad someone agrees. Hockey is a game won by scoring the most goals, not getting in the most fights. Getting in the most fights doesn't directly translate into winning games resulting in championships. Fighting doesn't show up on the scoreboard...if it even had a positive impact on the ability to hold a 4 goal lead in the third period, I would have a problem with the Wings not doing it. But since it only seems to have a detrimental impact, I don't see any reason to change anything.

You can also see that Stuart stopped skating and committed to the hit long before Havlat got rid of the puck. Anyone who has ever played hockey knows that once you commit to a hit you would pretty much have to do everything short of dislocating a hip to stop yourself from making contact. Plus every coach in the history of hockey tells their players to follow through on the hit. I can understand the passion for the home team but from a player to a fan, there is nothing wrong with these hits.

Probably because of the Winter Classic. If you watch the Kronwall hit you can see that the puck deflected off of Havlat's stick between his legs before the hit was delivered. Watching Stuart's hit you can tell that Havlat saw the hit coming and dumped the puck just to get rid of it.
