hey scotiadave thanks for posting these awesome vids. i cant stop watching them. you did a great job on them. can you send me a copy on dvd, i have lots of bootlegs to trade.
great sctoiadave while the clip had to be redone is great sound an longer the filmore concerts were 3 an four hours long thats the way Jams are an were i can understand some of the impatience by some viewing this .The fact is great music dont have a timer
THANKS, Scotiadave!!! This is an awesome video, no matter how it was sourced together. I got to see the ABB 3 times on the 'Enlightened Rogues' tour in 1979, and when many people exited during the drum solos, I stayed. I've always liked good drum solo's, and none are better than The ABB's Jaimoe and Butch Trucks.
ah i love a good drum track! altough im a guitarist its probably my favourit thing to listen to! this is real drumming! loads of groove! not the 1000 beats on the bassdrum per minute garbagde we have today!
In the early 70's every band did a 5 to 10 minute drum solo. We all got tired of them. But it did give the rest of the band a break, which was really the main purpose of extended drum solos.
One of the few criticisms I have with the ABB are the legthy drum solos. Sorry, not to say Jamoe and Butch arent great, they just go on a little too long for my taste. But I can overlook that small matter.
i see where you're coming from. but its different to listen to a tape of a long drum solo than is it to experience the performance. i wish i couldve seen them live in those days
Perhaps, but I've seen ABB at least 8 times, and they STILL play endless drum solos, except more recently, they've had 3 percussionists! Oh well, still a great show. I just wish Dickey were back with them. Dickey, Warren, and Butch, all 3 together, would really be awesome!
Muddy and Howli'n Wolf on Vocals, Buddy Guy on Guitar, Sonny Boy on Harp Willy Dixon on Bass Otis Spann on Piano is one- Clapton and Lennon performing with the stones another, other than that???
I remember reading where Dylan said if he could have been a part of any band one of them would have been the Muddy Waters line-up with Sonny Boy and Otis! Got to shake Buddy Guy's hand once and he hugged my gf, at a great little club called Ella Guru's in Knoxville in the late 80s. Also saw John Lee Hooker, and Hot Tuna there.
Drummers don't even use three piece trap sets anymore, they need 50 toms, 4 base drums, and enough cymbols to hide everything else... and still can't do that.
Hey Scotiadave - thx so much for this phenomenal clip. You have the best Allman stuff on the web - hands down. The thing that set the Brothers apart from everyone else was the rhythym section. Jaimoe's syncopated jazz accents and snare and kick interplay are remarkable. So great to see the next video where thay sync back up with Berry's solo. Is there some where the camera catches Butch soloing? Thx agaon foir this amazing stuff! Any live Sealevel anywhere?
Thank you for this vid. I have always loved the ABB mastery of time.

Awesome, but I only wish the audio was a little more in synch with the video. Incredible footage, though. Historic.
