  • Great review, just finished watching this about 30 mins ago, still love this movie.Like you said definitely the best training scenes..The fight is great, love when drago says 'hes not human, hes like a piece of iron'..his son kinda of annoyed me,not as bad as the kid in over the top though..

  • @ldeanjr2 Thanks for the comment! I completely agree wtih what you said.

  • I just got started into watching the rocky movies and now I can't stop. I already bought a rocky shirt and rocky 1 on blu ray

  • @trevsworld1 Awesome! I'm always glad to meet a new Rocky fan. :)

  • your wrong bro, Rocky only puts the belt the original belt on Apollo's grave, the belt is merely symbol,...Rocky however was still world heavyweight champion, because when he fights Drago..the american athletic commission do not sanction it, and its stated that the fight is not fot the title''..when if he have of given the title up there would've been no need for that comment in the movie, secondly that fact again of Rocky still being champ is made at the begining of Rocky V

  • @apollonas101 Yes, what you say is true, BUT it is true only because Rocky V screwed up. If you watch the scene again that you are referring to (the commission not sanctioning it), you will clearly see a newspaper that says Rocky gives up the title. Sly ignored the newspaper article so that Rocky would still be champ in Rocky V (Sly ignored plenty of things in Rocky V. Look at how much his son aged!)

  • @rockybalboa101 yeah your very right, from different house...to completly different sports car's from IV, ...Rocky even mentions to his son that the christmas before where they had fun and good time..??? when he was in russia...lol,...so at the begining of IV he was still champ?

  • @apollonas101 Yep, Rocky is still champ at the beginning of IV. But he gives up the title to fight Drago. But then he is STILL champ in part V, lol! The whole Rocky timeline is screwed up. Rocky say's he's been married to Adrian for 9 years in IV. But only 3 to 5 years have passed since Rocky II. Also, Mick says he is 76 years old in Rocky. But his tombstone says his birthday to death, and it doesn't add up right.

  • I disagree about Rocky IV having the best fight. I think Rocky II beats it, just because of that ending.

  • @yanksrule99 I feel Rocky IV has the most "entertaining" fight. Rocky II is probably the best with the ending like you said. :)

  • Rocky 5 is my least favorite

  • @dissmaster1 Rocky V seems to be most people's least favorite. It is my 4th favorite. :)

  • I think Rocky starting to act less like Rocky started in part 3 actually not part 4 he was just kinda pissed off in this movie and wanted to take Drago out. He did start learning to read and write better in part 2 so that could be the explanation as to why he started to talk differently and then in part 5 he got brain damage so he was a little slow again. I know know it might just be a cop out but it sort of makes sense .

  • @mray2081 Well, I agree with some of your points. You are right, in that Rocky was "smarter" starting in part III. You can tell he became more like Apollo by the montage at the beginning of the film. I DO feel however, that Stallone went too far as to the "smartness" in Rocky IV. He almost didn't even have a slur! Then Sly took it all the other way in part V. Maybe Sly was burned out. But we got the return of greatness in Rocky Balboa. Thank you for your comment! :)

  • Great review, man. Rocky IV is a great sequel despite being a bit over the top. Having Rocky outside of his natural environment was a great twist and it's interesting to hear about so many people thinking that this ended the Cold War.

  • @Moviefan7359 This movie is so damn entertaining. Everything works for the film. The Cold War ending because of this film is one thing that always brings a smile to my face. Rocky ended the Cold War!!!!! Way to go Stallone (j/k) ;)

  • Great film. But you are right the worst of the series. The story wasn't really a boxing related story, but more of a political one. I recently bought the newly released Vince DiCola Rocky IV soundtrack. Absolutley superb!!

  • @MrScamman Thanks for commenting! I've heard the tracks of the new album here on youtube and you're right, they are fantastic. Much better than the original album (and closer to the movie).

  • Great review. I have a little different take.. The biggest mistake in the whole saga was killng off Apollo Creed. Carl Weathers was actually very upset in real life that Sylvester Stallone wrote him off. I could hear his disgust on a radio show one day back in 1985. Would have been just too cool to see him at the end of the movie rolling down to the ring in a wheel chair or something and at the end giving Rocky the Eye of The Tiger. ( ala Pat Morita in Karate Kid). But, so the story goes.

  • @djmyers71 Thanks for the comment. I agree completely about Creed's death. It shouldn't have happened. It was a little too extreme in my opinion. It's too bad also that Mr. Weathers wanted too much money for use of his image in Rocky Balboa. Sly called him in an interview "Apollo Greed" lol. Again, thanks for checking out my vid. :)

  • Great review. Rocky IV is probably the most iconic of the Rocky films just because of that image of Rocky with the flag. I mean, even before I ever watched or cared about Rocky, I knew he was a boxer from that one picture with the flag. Rocky IV is my favorite fight like you said, but I also like how he goes to Russia and has the USSR people and politicians as backdrop during the final fight.

  • @Rockyfan10060 Going to the USSR was definitely cool. Rocky outside his element was a good twist.

  • i totally agree with you with everything you say. I think i have my rocky/stallone fan equivalent!

but my fav is still R4.

  • @eccentricness81 Nice to meet another fan of Sly! Thanks for the comment. :)

  • Ha! Okay, sorry about trashing on your reviews, but here I go again :D

This is no way the worst Rocky movie. You could reasonably place Rocky's I, III, and VI above this, but no way is this worse than V or II.... and yes, I'm talking on a story level, not simply in terms of entertainment, action, ect. Rocky V had a mess of a story, & Rocky acts like he has downs syndrome. Rocky II has the longest running time and least amount of story, so its filled with pointless melodrama (Adrian.. coma???)

  • @gabegx No need to apologize. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. We both just like different aspects of the film. ;)

Rocky IV: No Bill Conti, no Rocky score. Sly acts like himself instead of Rocky. Very unrealistic scenes (psi 1850 ibs? bwahaha) Are we watching a movie, or an mtv music video?

As I said in the vid, this is a great entertaining film by itself. But as part of the Rocky "story", it least fits the series.

Man, you really hate Rocky V! (but alot of folks agree w/u)

  • @rockybalboa101

    haha.

No problem. I understand the criticisms of Rocky IV... I don't agree with all of them... however the reason I trash V so much is because I think there's no way its superior to III or IV on any level - including story, characters, writing - like you say in your reviews. I'm glad you made this "Rocky YouTube" channel though. Great work!

  • @gabegx Hey, thanks man! Everyone has an opinion and I like hearing others thoughts. I hope you don't take my comments as an attack. We both just feel differently about the films, which is cool. You make some interesting points.

  • @rockybalboa101 Haha, likewise. Hope u don't take my comments as an attack either. Just like debating and talking about Rocky! :D

  • @gabegx Certainly not. Glad to see someone invested in Rocky with strong opinions. ;)

  • This was my favorite movie of the series and I made a Rocky IV custom figure

  • @xrancid007 I saw your custom. Very good work my friend!

  • you like the 5th rocky beater then this

  • @toyreview Taking into consideration every aspect of the films, I do feel 5 is better. But for entertainment, I put Rocky IV at the top.

  • th best rocky movie

  • @Medialoungereview Thanks Wes. Hope everything is well with you buddy. Thanks for the comment!

  • Hey Dan, what's up bro.. Dude this was awesome, keep doing these reviews with the trivia too. Yeah I remember reading about that injury that Stallone had during the filming---crazy huh? Wow. Anyway I hope your great and I will talk to you later :)

  • @bigdaddry Yo Ryan! It's been awhile. I'm good, and hope you are as well. Thanks for the nice comment. Catcha later.

  • To me, it always felt like Rocky 4 just didn't have enough plot to fill up the alotted time. It's certainly the shortest of all the Rocky films, and there are several parts where it seems like they were looking for ways to fill up time just so it would be long enough to qualify as a feature length film.

Take for example the "No Easy Way Out" scene with Rocky driving in his car. What purpose does that scene serve other than to fill up time?

Other than that, it's a fun watch.

  • @TylerCharlesFisher Agree for the most part Tyler. Some of the movie feels like a MTV music video, lol. But still a great movie.

  • @rockybalboa101

Another thing worth noting: between Drago's superman training, and Paulie's robot gal, this is probably the closest that Rocky ever got to science fiction.

I don't know if that's a good thing or bad.

  • @TylerCharlesFisher lol, I think its a bad thing! ;)

  • How u been. This is a cool review.I didnt kno he got hurt...i guess u learn something everyday!!!

  • @celebrob I'm good Rob. Glad you liked the trivia. I'm gonna put stuff in like that in my other reviews.

  • Awesome review bro.... 5 stars! Rocky 1 will always be my favorite. Rocky 4 is legend though.

  • @MrPunisher2012 Thanks Louis! The legend of Rocky will go on for a long, long time.

  • Good review Dan...Rocky 4 and Rocky 3 are in my bottom two...i just think that they concentrated MORE on boxing then story...but they are good non the less!

  • @MovieReviewTime Thanks Bob! Gotta agree with your points too.
