So I have an intelligent question, but certainly not expecting an intelligent answer here. Why were the insurance companies prevented from crossing state lines in the first place? Is this something the insurance companies wanted? States wanted? Or another? The common ground for both sides is opening up competition and part of that is offering more private options across state boundaries. Why was the competition limited in the first place? What is_ the specific law that prevents it?
I think that it boils down to the fact that each state has it's own laws and insurance commission governing what insurance companies are allowed or not allowed to do in a particular. state.
Each state does have its own laws. And I understand why some are more strict. A lot of people were ripped off by shady front companies. But insurance companies navigate those laws when it comes to auto, life, homeowners, etc. Why is health care different, unless they really do not want to compete?

You report good from VA. I have the opposite. VA bad service BC/BS gave excellent. Many vets have the same as me, I talk to them during the many hours of waiting. VA just notified 11,000 people who had colonoscopy's of possible exposure to HIV & HepC due to improper sterilization of the scopes (rinsed off, not sterilized in 11,000 procedures.) A few months ago, new VA chief shutdown disability claims. Examiners were throwing files away (in the trash) to clean off their desks. Too many files.

Then at the last minute they wanted to give me a mini-colonscopy, but I told the dr I was staying on the gurney til they approved it since I'd waited 3 mons. Then I had to listen to the dr argue w/ THE INSURANCE GUY until they finally said yes
When my VA dr ordered a colonscopy recently it was done in 3 days (had to wait that long because of diet limitations).

Is this something the insurance companies wanted? States wanted? Or another? The common ground for both sides is opening up competition and part of that is offering more private options across state boundaries. Why was the competition limited in the first place? What is_ the specific law that prevents it?

When I had stomach problems - with Blue Cross it took me 3 months just to get a colonscopy.
Later I had more stomach problems - with VA not only did they do a colonscopy but X-rays & ultra-sound as well
Fortunately my tests came out relatively well - but when I went in today they had a panel of 3 medical specialists explain the results to me.

You report good from VA. I have the opposite. VA bad service BC/BS gave excellent. Many vets have the same as me, I talk to them during the many hours of waiting. VA just notified 11,000 people who had colonoscopy's of possible exposure to HIV & HepC due to improper sterilization of the scopes (rinsed off, not sterilized in 11,000 procedures.) A few months ago, new VA chief shutdown disability claims. Examiners were throwing files away (in the trash) to clean off their desks. Too many files.

Your information on "those countries" going bankrupt, is incorrect. Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Germany, Canada, and France are far from going bankrupt. Quite the contrary. First of all, those TWO people you're referring to wearing the shirts were thought to be trespassing. That's against the law.
Secondly, yes the constitution gives people the right TO BEAR ARMS! And the law states that people with licenses are allowed to carry concealed weapons. So yes, that man had a right to carry his weapon, and so does any democrat who wants to.
