I bought this piece of crap and from the beginning it froze randomly.... whitch sucks!!!! It just don't reacts anymore and i don't know why -.- . DON'T BUY IT !!!!
I have this!! don't buy it. I've had it for a year now. DON'T BUY IT.
All lenovo laptops have drivers issues. I thought i would be able to fix it but i have yet to make my laptop work at 100% it's performance.
The second issue is that this laptop OVERHEATS. 70-100C easy.
Save yourself the headache and buy something else that is a lot more stable. The hardware is a steal for its value but the computer is built like crap.
@yellowman88 Thanks for the warning, what would you recommend as an alternative? I've looked around but this is the best laptop I've found with these kinds of specs in my price range.
@Flipty11 The thing is this laptop is built poorly. Yeah... in terms of hardware this is a bargain but don't let it fool you. The bios update is weird and it doesn't work well. I had to re-flash my bios to the older update. If your okay with doing a bunch of homework reading lenovo support forums to get it working perfectly then more power to you. But... if your an average user who doesn't care about maximizing its potential then go for it. Lenovo has the worst customer service too.
@yellowman88 I own one also. Its not that bad. You simply have to uninstall all the lenovo junk. Got to ATIs website for updated graphics drivers. You never simply use a machine out of the box. I in the end installed Xubuntu on my Y560 and other than not being able to switch graphics card I havent had one hiccup yet. A good laptop if you know how to properly care for one.
@jimdoesjokes Yes it takes work to fix it. I bought this laptop like 8 months ago knowing i would try to fix it but yeah it took a lot of work stress and anxiety to get it to work to its maximum potential. I'm not a fan of using linux cause it's not compatible with a couple software i use for work.
Interesting though... do you run energy management (lenovo brand)? What are your cpu/gpu core temps?
The build quality is really quite terrible: The screen bezel flexes to such a point that I'm concerned about it breaking. If you get one, reformat and reinstall windows with none of that pre-installed, malfunctioning garbage from Lenovo.
@SergeantLouis72 No. It can do Empire on about medium. That is the Core i7 Q740 with 8Gb of RAM and the Mobility Radeon HD 5730 configuration. If you want to play Shogun 2 on max settings get a desktop beast...
Do not buy this!! really poor customer support. terrible problems with graphics. works well for a little. then when you need to update the drivers you are on your own! and trust me it doesn't allow you to update them. lenovo screwed me over! and i bought the 8 gig quadcore monster
Can sombody tell me if this laptop is quiet/unhearable? B/c i need to pick a Silent Laptop used for video games and school.... My library said my previous HP laptop was to loud and kicked me out so is this quiet?
I'm having a lot of problems updating the drivers on mine, I don't think it allows you to do so. The customer service is alright, but it doesn't come with a software warranty, so if you have any technical problems you will have to pay. Can anybody explain why my drivers revert back to older versions when I try to install the newer ones?
@hustleandsnow hey, what colour is it? I'm thinking about gettin one, but there have been some complaints about it not looking like it did on the website, and being burgundy.
DO NOT BUT LENOVO, I have one and it is junk and when you call for support they will charge you before they will help you , the recovery cd they send with the pc will not work until you call support and then they will charge you 89.00 to guide you thru the process , BUY THIS COMPUTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Being UK based, I am about to buy the Y560 (06465CU) from the USA. Warranty support does not cover UK, my nearest warranty country is Germany, so I want to make sure that the Y560 doesnt have nasty inherrent issues. There have been 2 main widely documented issues: Constant LOUD fan noise, and a pixelation issue. (1)Does this laptop overheat more than it should? (2) What temperature does it idle at? (3) Is the 'dynamic fan control' user-configurable, or pre-programmed? (4) Is the GPU switchable?
it is interesting how many ignorant morons are here on youtube..jiga, giga,so what ? is that pronunciation really most important part of this reveiw ?
Yes, it is good. No problems with this Laptop at all. Solid, and very quick indeed. I ordered this on late evening of 4th, and had it in my hands by lunchtime on the 8th of the month. Y560, win7 x64, 8gb ram, 500gb HDD, i7 quad core. You get a lot of quality for a good price. Very pleased. It outperforms HP Envy, and AlienwareM11x. But I didn't buy it for Gaming - just a lot of (quick) video editing.
Just don't order it from Lenovo! At least not if you want it sometime this century. It says on the website it will ship in 5 days. Its bs. I ordered it on the 13th and now they say it will take 5 or more days to ship from the 15th. Then they said shipping will take 3 to 5 days yet a customer service rep told me the shipping will take 7 to 10 days... Tried to find an email link to complain and that doesn't even work. Very dissatisfied with them so far. Beware!
thank u for the review , dont listen to no life morons that can only speak 1 language .. keep the good work .. its not an english lesson , its a laaptop review ffs . i dont mind jiga , gega , or gaga even lol ..
?? you do know that the proper way to pronounce gigabyte is jigabyte? I'd assume english is this lady's second language and she speaks it better than you apparently.
@Daumex I repeated your post because I didn't know what you meant. Jiga is the proper pronunciation of giga or at least it was before the uninformed read it, saw gig-a and pronounced it as such. Jiga used to be the primary why of saying it. Although, it has now become secondary because everyone pronouncer giga with a hard g. I came to see a review of a laptop I was interested in and I all I saw in the comments were people berating the review because of a supposed mispronunciation.
