  • It depends on your firmware and the folders you have slow everything down i have a iphone 4 and it slows that down even try deleting some folders

  • iOS 3.1.3 and 4.1 are the best if you seek performance on an iPhone 3G.

  • Wallpaper background drinks your memory, and iPhone 3G only has around 128 of RAM i think

  • on iPhone 3g it sucks, but on 3gs it doesnt...

  • I feel the same right now watching this video on my 3G!

  • Actually there's a new update (ios 4.1) which improves the performance in the iPhone 3G so it should run fine after the update comes out.

  • @MrAsh543 apples LIES the 4.1 update barely fixes shit

  • I have a 3gs with ios 4 and its actually about 2x faster now, i love it.

  • Just get the iPhone 4. If you cannot, do not use your 3g anymore. it sucks..

  • great marketing strategy - brick all the old phones out there so they have to buy the 4 or they might just try DROID - lets hope apple does something about this or at the very least makes it easy to downgrade back to 3.1.2 - fortunately 3g users which have the biggest problems can downgrade without their SHSH Blobs apparently but 98% of the people can't do it themselves

  • Theres a way to downgrade without it being jailbroken or SHSH blobs backed up..

  • I think this is exactly what Apple wanted in the first place. "MrTechBox" repeatedly said he couldn't wait to get his hands on an iPhone 4 mainly because of the performance issues with the iPhone 3G! The only difference i see with iOS4 and iOS3 for the 3G are the folders. Everything else is same but a whole lot slower (prompting people to upgrade to iPhone 4). Thankfully my 3GS has enough processing horse power to handle iOS4 with ease.

Shame on you Apple for doing this on purpose to your fans

  • its kinda funny how when people have a problem with a devise (cars included), it seems to mostly behave when said person is trying to demonstrate the problem!

To relieve the performance problems with iPhone 3G on iOS4 do this. Turn off all indexing on the phone (Spot Light) and reset. You'll see a major jump in speed as soon as the phone finishes rebooting.

  • i think this is iphones way of saying fuck u guys get an iphone 4...twisting your arm into buying a whole new fone!!! fuck

  • Same as my 3GS 16GB but about 1/4 as slow as yours but I only have one folder with about 10 apps in there I have about 10 Gb storage space left but I noticed IOS 4 is slower than IOS 3 iPhone 4 should be much faster with the apple a4 processor but apple should offer to sell upgraded hardware EG. A4 processor for iPhone 3G/3GS which they install because my contract ends 7th November 2011!! (iPhone 4g should be out by then)

  • Multitasking, theming, and app categories worked just fine on my jailbroken ipod touch 1g. Either iOS4 sucks or apple wants you to upgrade your hardware. Of course, everything works better on my Droid.

  • OverClocking your iPhone works like a charm if you know how to do it and the limits :) I didn't update to 4 because I sort of hacked my iPhone so I was able to OC it to the max :) I get better speeds than the iPhone 4 when I looked up the specs and compared both of them, I may make a program for iPhone 3GS to OC it easily for people who want to do it with-out hacking their iPhones :)

  • @TeamXS7

hey how did you over clock your iphone

  • @BosnaBG Going into the main Core Clock settings for the iPhone 3GS don't think it work with the 3G but it works with the 3GS, When I get the iPhone 4... (If I do lmao) I will release a program for $1 to allow you to overclock you iPhone 4 to safe speeds and I will enable an advance option if people know how to keep a stable Voltage settings ect.

    -Hackzer

  • @TeamXS7 so wont work with iphone 3g

  • @BosnaBG Sadly no, I don't own a normal 3G iPhone only the 3GS. The 3GS has a little more power over the the 3G so I don't know what will support it.

  • update 4.0.1 fixes performance issues on my iPhone.

  • That's weird. My stepdad and I both have the iPhone 3G on iOS4 and it's faster than ever! (Although when i upgraded i didn't restore from a backup)

  • Also if you go to Settings> General> spotlight search, and turn off all of the searching options, it will free up some memory that archives throughout the ram. It really improves some of the core apps.

  • my phone has started becoming more sluggish and lagging alot more with my 3g on ios 4 i will soon get the iphone 4 but godly this just sucks

  • I have the same problems with my iPhone 3G and it's just frustrating...it makes me not want to use it anymore. :(

  • I've got a iPhone 3GS and an old 8GB iPod touch 2G and i can confirm ios4 is much faster than 3.1 on the GS and much slower on the old iPod. :-/

  • if u restore and update an 3G like a new phone not just update and u dont use wallpaper ull see that is moving very fast and u can even use multitasking. Wtf u need wallpaper when u can use winterboard and btw Backgrounder is a 300% better application than multitasking

    My 2 cents

  • @albnegrulive no background screwed the shit out of my iphone. worst app ever!

  • but the 3G has a very slow OLD ARM 11 Cpu with 412Mhz. No wonder it's freaking slow. The 3G was fast because it didnt had much functions. Like other phones.

Now they want to add functions like other phones and it gets JUST SLOW like most other phones.

With android every update the OS gets faster and lighter!! " android 2.2 runs better on an old phone then android 1.5" because it's more efficient.

So apple didn't make the software more efficient. They just added shit and made it more heavy.

  • I don't know why we can't have a home screen background on the iPod touch 8GB. Its not like it needed extra hardware. Apple can get shifty sometimes.

  • @haiti1800 I have an iPod 3g with 8g, it is just 2 months old. I asked the man of the Apple store if the ipod touch 32g or 64g was better he said "there is a little bit faster processor build in but not really". So I bought the 8g. Now I CAN NOT support all the features in ios4. like this iphone 3g. Also it is much slower but the user interface is very nice. I aspected more from the ios4 on my iPod Touch 8g but unfortunately.....

If I knew that this would happen I would not be so dissapointed...
