There is a Philoso-Raptor meme that asks if Luke is supposed to bring "balance to the Force", why must he destroy half of it? Without darkness and evil there is no balance for good.
You know I really don't care about this religeous debate everyone is trying to make of things. But I rather focus on how Yoda proves that anyone is able to do what everyone sees as the impossible. You see that clearly at how Luke looks like he's straining from trying to lift his ship yet Yoda looks very relaxed lifting it like if it was a simple rock.
I think, in the end, the ability to use the Force is equal to your belief in yourself. If you have the confidence, the determination, and the will to do what seems impossible, then you can do the impossible. Luminous beings, we are.
The Force in the Star Wars series is not so much a belief system as a way of interfacing with the natural world. It's not like religion where people are free to believe or disbelieve. In the series, its existence is unquestioned. The only issue is whether or not a person has the ability to access it.
LOL The force has nothing to do with the Bible. All you die-hard Star Wars fans were crying when George Lucas decided to add a science to the force with the midi-chlorians. Great video, stupid description. I recommend changing it to something more accurate.
Lol, "Yoda derives from principles of the bible". Christians are so funny. "The Force" is almost directly lifted from Shintoism. The entire philosophy of Star Wars is from Shintoism. Even the word "Jedi" comes from it. You're on glue, like all religious people.
@uncahay -- I'm a Christian and think "Yoda deriving his principles from the bible" is a silly statement too. As for the Force being lifted directly from Shintoism, that's false. The force was gathered by taking a primitive look at all religions and finding the common beliefs -- not exclusively Shintoism. Atheists are so funny, you already have God in your heart. Maybe he can "glue" you back together like he did me.
@uncahay lol ummm Christianity is not the only religion out there you know... sure you can relate this scene to it but for people to claim that it was actually intended to represent Christianity is just stretching it. lol It could relate to a lot of things.
I swear Yoda really can teach when you listen. I like how he proved you could do the impossible. Especially how relaxed he looks when he lifts the ship as to Luke who was too forceful.
The description is wrong in that Yoda derives his principles from the bible, George Lucas was secular Buddhist-nothing to do with the bible. He derived the force and jedi training from Buddhism. Google it if you don't believe me.
you see there is a line between good and evil. Good can not survive without evil it brings balance to the universe. George Lucas explained this here in SW he showed that even the greatest hero can fall to darkness. The darkest warrior can be your greatest ally on the side of good. Its not Good and Evil thats only a point of view! ITs dark and light which is also an opinion. But evil implies murder good implies heroes. dark implies anything that isnt light. Light implies anything that isnt dark
If you want to learn more about the force take a look at the transcendental movement of the American Romantic Period. You will find amazing similarities between the force and the writings of Emerson and Thoreau.
Lucas claimed that the Force is a power given to everything, how its stays together and how everything has a purpose. Though he hesitated to say it was 'God' because he didnt want to downplay those who didnt believe in God. Its a spiritual awakening in yourself. Yoda, when he lifted the X-WIng, demonstrated, his comprehension and awakening, Luke had failed to do so. But in ROTJ, after being tempted by the Dark Side, the minute he threw down his saber and said 'no', he became a real Jedi,
@Hermoor Jedism is based off of Christianity or a belief in God and Buddhism. You can tell. The all mighty force which is provided for all but to those its useful for the particulars who can comprehend it. Like the belief in God. Faith is useful and logical to those who can comprehend it, its power. The Buddhism part comes from the light and dark. They will always co-exist with one another. You must understand both to achieve true eternal peace. Ultimately, you must believe in Yourself. Epic..
It's a mixture of like half a dozen religions. That's the only similarity between Jediism and Christianity. They are both hybrid religions of previous beliefs.
Lmao. I love how this troll is like, "Yoda derives from the bible" by taking some vague bible passage and do intellectual acrobatics to make Yoda seem as if he's based on Christianity.
Sorry I'm typing this on an iPad so it keeps messing up. Continuing: it is by this type of faith that Jesus becomes our strongest aly, and grants us the power to overcome all obstacles according to his will.
Theology (life creates the force rather than life being created by God) the message of this scene can still be applied to the Christian faith. Luke fails because he cannot believe what he perceives as impossible, just as followers Of Christ must also believe in what the world tells us is I possible,it is thT by
In this scene Yoda is teaching Luke the way of the Force.
He speaks of the Force as Energy that flows threw the entire universe, that lives in everything and everyone, and can never die. Yoda teaches universal consciousness, that we, the universe, everything and everyone in it are one threw unity. He also teaches the Law of Attraction. Not the Holy Spirit & Faith.

yeah,i think THE FORCE is more likened to pagan philosophy than our modern day religious viewpoint,as yoda said the force is in all things, not just those who belong to 'the force club' so to speak
The force has no consciousness, no will, it is not perfect, it is law, it is everything. The Christian God is an individual with desires, who creates life for a purpose, who has a plan. The force is what allows life to grow, just like sunlight gives plants the energy to grow, it's not because the sun wills plants to grow. In this sense, I feel your comparision is forced (pun noted but not intended), Yodas description of the force has much more in common with Buddhism or Jainism.
The Force is not only about love and hate. It is more like a universal consciousness, where light and darkness coexist, next to our free will to choose in which side we want to live our lives.
@MrFethennour I made that comment as my answer to what some people said about their definition of the Force. And I know it's just a movie, but it takes many elements of ancient eastern philosophy, in case you didn't know that.
there is no evil, or good. Everything is a lesson to learn. What might seem bad (evil) to you, might be otherwise for someone else, and everything might be how it supposed to be,

@jedihunter176 I'm not aware of the Star Wars terminology, however I study in depth spirituality and consciousness and came to a conclusion that the "Jedi force" is in fact very real and we can all use it, if practiced. It's what some call "god", but I don't like this term, as it is perverted by the bible....
We tend to believe that if it's a sci-fi movie, then it's fiction. It tries to move forward a powerful message.
Just think outside the box and be open to new ideas and answers will come...
@riceball23 Xians are chameleons,as is the new age. They will twist everything to conform to their stupid nazarene, who destroyed the souls and minds of humanity by spreading " love."
