I'm sorry, but Anette's live performances are so disappointing.. She changes so many notes from the original songs, and she changes also the way of singing..
I know that she is probably doing her best, but I think she should be more humble and try to improve her singing..
she changes notes, name one artist that doesn't in a live performances, some songs require way to much vocal strain to obtain, and it is all fine for the album, but night after night there is no way anyone would have a voice left if they tried it. Annette is great. And if you listen to her from back when she started with NW to now, you would see she has gotten really good.

I actually have a problem with this group. I do love the music, instrumentaly it's very good but i think they're unable to choose a singer how "fits" with the song. WT went last year to the States, Delain is a band by ex WT keyboardplayer Martijn, brother of Robert from WT. Martijn had to quit the band because he was ill. Delain also has a great singer Charlotte Wessels. She's 19 years now, but she is a great talent. WT are also the support act by Iron Maiden in Holland. This year WT has many concerts over here;-) Last februari they played with an real orchestra, it was awesome! There are video's on you tube (in Ahoy Rotterdam) Look for Black Symphonie

When Nightwish plays live in Europe, they play to HUGE sold out arenas....When they play in the US, they play in little dinky holes. NOT FAIR!! I want to see NW live in a HUGE stadium!
I'll switch with you. You can come see them in the little club I saw them in last year (Masquerade - this place is such a dump, the FLOORS were bowing from the weight of the crowd, I swear I thought I was going to fall thru the floor. Even the band noticed it.
The best song they did was "Wish I had an Angel" and believe me, Anette was AWESOME!! I love Tarja's voice, but Anette really made the song her own. I was SO glad I got to see them. :)
I'm going in two weeks to Amsterdam, at the Heiniken Music Hall. (HMH) It's a great place, (for about 5500 people, but i prefer small places. And for me it's on the other side of the country. I wish they played over here in de "Lantaarn" in Hellendoorn, there only place for 500 people, and i can go by bike;-) I've seen much great bands in Hellendoorn. B.t.w. whas this send out on tv, what an bad sound, they have to *** that soundman!
YOU have SUCH GOOD MUSIC over there. Most of the music in the states is really bad (Britney Spears, etc...) that I'd rather tear my ears off then listen to it. European music is SO much better. DOnt get me wrong, There are a lot of American bands that I do like (Blondie, Ramones, Smashmouth, Outkast), but most of my tastes tend to stray more towards Europe, in particular England. I was HUGE into punk and new wave in the 80's (I"m 44 now) and almost ALL that music was from England.
Well, i'm 46 and i like Nightwish:-) But i prefer the voice of Anette. I'm also a big fan of (Dutch) symphonic metal bands like Within Temptation and Delain. I think you like that too;-) I also like System of a Down, Foo Fighters and that kind of music. You'll never to old for good music LOL
I only discovered Nightwish about 3 months ago. Never heard of them before that. Now I'm listening to Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, Sirenia, Therion, Tristania, and lots of "symphonic metal" that I never even knew existed.
This band is the greatest. I can say I already think the direction Anette is taking them is much better than Tarja's way. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the stuff Tarja did with them, and I love how Tarja had a lot of Finnish mythology influence. I think its sad the Anette doesn't have that quality, but I think she's an amazing singer and she's AWESOME.
AMEN!! I think they are absolutely brilliant, and Tuomas is a frikkin genius (and he looks really fierce-wicked-cool too.) I am SO glad I found this band. I had no idea what I was missing. I'm listening to Master Passion Greed right now - awesome song. I love the Marco-heavy songs...he is so talented.
she didn't sing the soprano part because singing that live and getting all the notes exactly right is a lot harder than singing that alto and hitting all the notes.

Parece esta chica no es nada sin la voz de la soprano que les adorna muy bien sus canciones, como pueden ver este chica desafina y se escucha un desastre, mejor me quedo con el audio del CD en estudio.
Me parece que Annette hara un buen papel con el tiempo en nighwish, admito que en este video no sono muy bien por no decir desastrozo, pero en otros videos se ve que puede desempeñar mucho mejor su voz, yo si le dare un oportunidad.

You can't blame the band for how it sounds in this video. I've played under such circumstances before.. It's real bad mixing and the output is directly from the mixer board without any sort of mastering or compression.
You can have any band in the world playing with these conditions and it will sounds aweful no mather what. I think actually both singers are doing a great job in this performance.
Yes please, anyone who has anything to say about them who hasn't actually SEEN them live in concert needs to shut the eff up. You know nothing about the difference between live music and your perfectly EDITED versions you play on your cheap $20 MP3 players that your mommy's paid $20 for.
So unless you have something constructive to say about this performance, shut up.
And, on a happy note, I'm going to see them in NM this coming Thursday! I'm so excited!

The girl sounds so awful, that's pain for my ears. She doesn't sound better on any of the live clips on YT by the way (especially when she's doing the old songs). Reminds me of karaoke.
Furthermore she looks funny. Hopping and shaking around like a three year old kid making his first attempts to dance.
And somebody should tell her to wear other clothes. Those strapless tops bring out her hunchback so much...

Bands always sound different live. I think both Marco and Anette did pretty well, actually. It's not as easy as you might think, performing. No one can hit every note dead-on when performing live. Both of them had correct pitch most of the time, which is pretty good. Those melodies jump around a lot and aren't easy to sing, especially when you can't hear yourself very well.
Well we can see other live videos and we see that despite of some lack of vocal power, anette is a great singer who just need a bit more live experience... But for this one I'm pretty sure that they had difficulties with the microphone levels that obliged both anette and marco to scream more than singing. Maybe they didn't hear themselves because marco doesn't have voice problems in live habitually... so.. that should explain all

Nightwish rules, who cares about the mix. The Haters are just wanting another excuse to bash Anette. The mix is awful, the acoustics are awful, but Anette sounds magnificent, despite her and Tuomas being sick.
People, I was at this show and you have to keep in mind it was at a record shop that is maybe 500 square feet. It was a FREE SHOW and signing. It sounded allot better in person than in the video, and I was so close to them, the person in front of me almost got sweeted on by Marco.

Im pissed that this video exists, and that they did this concert at all. It makes them sound like shit! I saw them at the House of Blues yesterday (10-27-07) and they were AWESOME! Anette is REALLY good, and they had so much energy! Someone should take the person responsible for the room and sound and shoot them!

Uff...realmente la calidad del vídeo y audio es malisima, pero aun así es cierto que Anette sigue cantando muy mal en directo, dónde se han metido todos los agudos que hace en el CD? XD Bueno.. sigo manteniendo una débil esperanza en que mejore y me gusta pensar que su desafinacón es por falta de práctica al ser novata, que tiene la voz cansada y esas cosas...
The sound quality of this video is terrible, and the acoustics of that room is worse. Not to mention that the feeds appear completely screwed, the bass doesn't blend at ALL with the rest of the music. Anette has a great voice, but anyone can sound bad when the mixing is messy. That's the problem here, all the musicians are great but apparently the technicians didn't do their job.
I love Nightwish, their music it's just amazing no matter who the singer is. I guess we all should give Anette a chance, it's hard to replace a soprano singer as Tarja.
By the way, this alive concert doesn't sound great because it's in a very close and tight room.

i feel that whenever anette sings in a LIVE, her voice is usually disharmonious,not only singing tarja's songs, but also her own new songs in DDP. she keeps singing in high and low, this make the beatiful songs almost become a noise sound. although so, but her voice in DDP CD is pretty sweet, i like the voice in CD. hope she will improve when she sings in a live.
She'll get better as she gets used to singing the songs... Tarja's style and hers are so different there's bound to be a little experimentation before things are sorted out.
Please, try to remember that the mixing there sucked big time, recording is bad AND Anette and Tuomas were sick! Tuomas had to see the doctor and all! Little understanding people!

Tragam de Volta a Tarja a banda perdeu mt com a saída dela, com a voz de Anette as musicas perderão em harmonia e sensibilidade deixou de passar para nós aquela emoção ao ouvir uma musica deles interpretada por tarja. This band is the greatest. I can say I already think the direction Anette is taking them is much better than Tarja's way. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the stuff Tarja did with them, and I love how Tarja had a lot of Finnish mythology influence. I think its sad the Anette doesn't have that quality, but I think she's an amazing singer and she's AWESOME.

she didn't sing the soprano part because singing that live and getting all the notes exactly right is a lot harder than singing that alto and hitting all the notes.
it may have been hard for her to sing those parts...but tuomas, the keyboard player and it was (i think) abot his life

You can't blame the band for how it sounds in this video. I've played under such circumstances before.. It's real bad mixing and the output is directly from the mixer board without any sort of mastering or compression.
You can have any band in the world playing with these conditions and it will sounds aweful no mather what. I think actually both singers are doing a great job in this performance.

Yes please, anyone who has anything to say about them who hasn't actually SEEN them live in concert needs to shut the eff up. You know nothing about the difference between live music and your perfectly EDITED versions you play on your cheap $20 MP3 players that your mommy's paid $20 for.
So unless you have something constructive to say about this performance, shut up.
And, on a happy note, I'm going to see them in NM this coming Thursday! I'm so excited!

The girl sounds so awful, that's pain for my ears. She doesn't sound better on any of the live clips on YT by the way (especially when she's doing the old songs). Reminds me of karaoke.
Furthermore she looks funny. Hopping and shaking around like a three year old kid making his first attempts to dance.
And somebody should tell her to wear other clothes. Those strapless tops bring out her hunchback so much...

Just by hearing how the drum and bass sound like I don't believe we can really judge this performance. The audio is ahead of a few seconds too... Crappy recording. Aw, a such masterpiece ruined >.>

Bands always sound different live. I think both Marco and Anette did pretty well, actually. It's not as easy as you might think, performing. No one can hit every note dead-on when performing live. Both of them had correct pitch most of the time, which is pretty good. Those melodies jump around a lot and aren't easy to sing, especially when you can't hear yourself very well.

Well we can see other live videos and we see that despite of some lack of vocal power, anette is a great singer who just need a bit more live experience... But for this one I'm pretty sure that they had difficulties with the microphone levels that obliged both anette and marco to scream more than singing. Maybe they didn't hear themselves because marco doesn't have voice problems in live habitually... so.. that should explain all

Nightwish rules, who cares about the mix. The Haters are just wanting another excuse to bash Anette. The mix is awful, the acoustics are awful, but Anette sounds magnificent, despite her and Tuomas being sick.

People, I was at this show and you have to keep in mind it was at a record shop that is maybe 500 square feet. It was a FREE SHOW and signing. It sounded allot better in person than in the video, and I was so close to them, the person in front of me almost got sweeted on by Marco.

Im pissed that this video exists, and that they did this concert at all. It makes them sound like shit! I saw them at the House of Blues yesterday (10-27-07) and they were AWESOME! The sound quality of this video is terrible, and the acoustics of that room is worse. Not to mention that the feeds appear completely screwed, the bass doesn't blend at ALL with the rest of the music. Anette has a great voice, but anyone can sound bad when the mixing is messy. That's the problem here, all the musicians are great but apparently the technicians didn't do their job.

I love Nightwish, their music it's just amazing no matter who the singer is. I guess we all should give Anette a chance, it's hard to replace a soprano singer as Tarja.
By the way, this alive concert doesn't sound great because it's in a very close and tight room.

Tuomas a muchos nos parece que no escogiste bien a la nueva cantante de Nightwish. De 2000 postulantes Anette fue lo mejor que encontraron?? Se imaginan que hubiera pasado si Nightwish hubiera comenzado su carrera con Anette?? Hubieran tenido el mismo exito?? Las grabaciones de Anette en el CD son muy buenas pero, porque no canta bien en directo? ¿es aceptable de nuestra parte que tengan en sus filas a una "novata" que debe aun adaptarse vocalmente a ustedes? i feel that whenever anette sings in a LIVE, her voice is usually disharmonious,not only singing tarja's songs, but also her own new songs in DDP. she keeps singing in high and low, this make the beatiful songs almost become a noise sound. although so, but her voice in DDP CD is pretty sweet, i like the voice in CD. hope she will improve when she sings in a live.

Tragam de Volta a Tarja a banda perdeu mt com a saída dela, com a voz de Anette as musicas perderão em harmonia e sensibilidade deixou de passar para nós aquela emoção ao ouvir uma musica deles interpretada por tarja. Desculpe-me mais Anette está mais para Pop Rock, é uma pena mais sinto que a banda não é mais a mesma. Andei assistindo um videos da banda com Anette, nem a presença deles no palco é mais a mesma!
