In actuality, the humans did NOT do anything wrong; they were brought up with their apparent laziness, and couldn't see what the world was beyond their hologram screens because of it.

As for the robots, only AUTO wanted the humans to stay on the Axiom. His job was to simply follow orders, and keep the passengers safe. Whic was precisely what he was doing.
